    the path one’s life takes is very hard to predict;

    case in point : SoS John Kerry;

    reports indicate that from when he was young, he was very interested in foreign service, influenced in part by his father’s life as a diplomat;

    now he is serving as the US’ top diplomat and racking up great achievements for us all;

    although most people might know SoS Kerry’s interest in foreign service but I think a number may either not be familiar with or have forgotten his great interest in sustainable environment ;

    I remember reading that then-senator John Kerry was one of the people present at the very first huge international climate summit and in the formulation of Kyoto Climate Protocols;

    he is also one of the senators who, during PBO’s first term, was heading up the comprehensive climate change policy formulation that was prevented from proceeding further due to gop opposition;

    now, years later, SoS Kerry is right there leading the US team during the Paris Climate talks;

    it would be really great if he can come home to PBO and the US with a climate agreement;

    keeping all the negotiators front and center in my good wishes

    A German nuclear fusion experiment has produced a special super-hot gas which scientists hope will eventually lead to clean, cheap energy.

    The helium plasma – a cloud of loose, charged particles – lasted just a tenth of a second and was about one million degrees Celsius.

    It was hailed as a breakthrough for the Max Planck Institute’s stellarator – a chamber whose design differs from the tokamak fusion devices used elsewhere.

    The Sun’s energy is created by fusion.

    Physicists are in a worldwide race to create stable fusion devices that could not only mimic the Sun but release abundant energy, without the volumes of toxic waste generated by nuclear fission – the splitting of the atom.

                As a matter of fact I spoke the state health agency yesterday and they informed me that they have a re-determination process (If they have all the information they need already I will be automatically re-enrolled again for next year) and will get a packet by the end of the month. Fingers crossed I somehow manage to stay eligible (I still don’t know why they approved me last year) but I counted it up and saving ~450/month in premiums and not having to spend a single dollar on doctors/medicine this year President Obama saved me a minimum of $10,000 out-of-pocket costs I would have incurred!!!

    “Barack Obama and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers have a profound respect for each other. It was as recently as November when Obama compared himself to Rodgers in the pocket. That’s about as big of a compliment as one can get. Now, the Packers QB is giving POTUS permission to use his famous Discount Double Check celebration. Before doing a mock screen test for the role of James Bond, TSN’s Cabbie Richards asked whether Rodgers thinks the president celebrates like him after a good day. The ensuing exchange was quite memorable (at the 1:20 mark in the above video)…..

    Stock markets sink as oil keeps sliding.

    Stock markets on both sides of the Atlantic fell on Friday and oil sank further as fears about global oversupply mounted.

    In London the FTSE 100 closed under 6,000 points as investors dumped commodities shares.

    The blue-chip index ended the day 2.2% lower, down 135 points at 5,952.7.

    On Wall Street the S&P 500 fell almost 2%, with the Dow Jones down 1.8% and the Nasdaq 2.2% lower.

    Tim Courtney, chief investment officer of Exencial Wealth Advisors, said: “We’re stockpiling commodities and demand is not picking up. It’s kind of a depressing market.”

    The International Energy Agency said the oil glut would worsen in 2016 as demand slowed and the Opec cartel showed no signs of cutting production.

                  When I was a young’un flatting with a friend we had an enormous rat under the kitchen sink – the tail size send me into spasms. Landlord’s wife caught it and removed it. One advantage of renting.

                    A couple years ago, where I currently live, there was a mouse in the kitchen – first day it got cold outside that winter, it thought it could live with me. Uh, no. I didn’t actually see it, but heard it.

                    Was telling my neighbor about it, and I said, “You know what that means. M-O-V-E. Nice knowing you.” (Side note to amk: My son used one of those sticker traps – it was caught by the next morning and I never saw either the mouse running around or the mouse in repose, or the deal would have been off, with staying here.)

                    I remember when my son was about 5, the last time a field mouse came to call! We, too, were in an apartment, but I couldn’t wait for the landlord so I invited the neighbor downstairs to come up and trap the awful thing. I stood on top of the sofa and my son … wait for it … tried to shoot it with a water pistol. Son was cute, but not so much the mouse.

                      So glad when I read “water pistol”. In today’s world someone’s son would definitely try to shoot it!!

                      Our landlord lived across the road – when we went screaming over – he was out – hence the wife. They were post war immigrants – had been through some hard times – no doubt wildlife had been the least of her worries.

    Organisers of the climate talks in Paris say a final text has been agreed after nearly two weeks of intensive negotiations.

    An official in the office of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told the AFP news agency the draft would be presented to ministers at 10:30 GMT.

    No details of the agreement have been released so far.

    The deal in the French capital was reached nearly 16 hours after the talks had been scheduled to close.

    Man, can’t believe I have to CHOOSE just one photo. They are all so beautiful, each with their own story and vibe.

    I finally decided on photo #2, I think because it conveys PBO’s and MO’s love of the fine arts and their lovely support of all the endeavors of youth. AND, it portrays their deep love and affection for each other. Just altogether super beautiful and comforting to me.

    BRAVA and thank you to those who put this collection together. Magnificent.
