Oh, I came back from supper at just the right time – to see if Chica is trying to influence the voting again by putting two of the same picture.
😉
That angelic look doesn’t work for me, faux-young lady! However, I notice that you are *playing* fair this time around so I will say no more. 😉
Well, if you’re complaining about two photos from the same event in the January post, your hair will be on fire when it comes to Selma 🙂
Okey-dokey, to be warned is to be armed ….with water for my hair. 😀 😀
I like the sunlit Selma when the family is boarding the plane. I like others too! /whisper….cheating on the pics can be overlooked, I think./
Hi VC – congratulations! So many good pictures. I thinks this totally fits our resolve to be positive at least once/day this month!
^5 Judith – in the midst of all the objections and other silliness we sure are blessed to have some truly terrific memories. 🙂 🙂
Yo! VC? Am a little (more than) lost – have missed the vote for the January pic, will you please shine a light into my darkness?? ❤ 😉
GE MP.
Saw that there will be a full moon on Christmas this year, the first in 40 years or so.
Here’s where we voted for January (when I voted my choice was out of the running, at #7 😦 ):

7UP!!!! Merci beaucoup Chiparoo et Joyeux vendredi!!
Vous are tres welcome, Forus!!
thanks a lot for the photo contest => great way to wind down after a crazy week
Congrats VC 🙂
Thank you Chips for the photo selection!!
Just a card for the V day? And peeps here call me a scrooge. / smh
I love the photo of the two women having fun and enjoying each other.
Me too, Bill; it seems so *natural*, so relaxed.
🙂
Thanks Chips! You gave us some good choices 😘
You are most welcome, young lady!
{{{{hugs}}}
Going out in the rain tonight to watch the Christmas ships come into Portland on the Willamette River. She says her condo’s not in the flood plain. 🙂
the path one’s life takes is very hard to predict;
case in point : SoS John Kerry;
reports indicate that from when he was young, he was very interested in foreign service, influenced in part by his father’s life as a diplomat;
now he is serving as the US’ top diplomat and racking up great achievements for us all;
although most people might know SoS Kerry’s interest in foreign service but I think a number may either not be familiar with or have forgotten his great interest in sustainable environment ;
I remember reading that then-senator John Kerry was one of the people present at the very first huge international climate summit and in the formulation of Kyoto Climate Protocols;
he is also one of the senators who, during PBO’s first term, was heading up the comprehensive climate change policy formulation that was prevented from proceeding further due to gop opposition;
now, years later, SoS Kerry is right there leading the US team during the Paris Climate talks;
it would be really great if he can come home to PBO and the US with a climate agreement;
keeping all the negotiators front and center in my good wishes
Thanks so much for the back story on Secretary Kerry’s long-time interests. He’s doing a fabulous job, and does look happy doing it!
He is a good and great man. He unselfishly introduced us to President Obama! ❤️ ☃ 😎
I will be attending the one in Portland. It will be huge!
A German nuclear fusion experiment has produced a special super-hot gas which scientists hope will eventually lead to clean, cheap energy.
The helium plasma – a cloud of loose, charged particles – lasted just a tenth of a second and was about one million degrees Celsius.
It was hailed as a breakthrough for the Max Planck Institute’s stellarator – a chamber whose design differs from the tokamak fusion devices used elsewhere.
The Sun’s energy is created by fusion.
Physicists are in a worldwide race to create stable fusion devices that could not only mimic the Sun but release abundant energy, without the volumes of toxic waste generated by nuclear fission – the splitting of the atom.

Wow! That is cool, I mean HOT!
It is a yuuuge step. Hopefully, our next generation will reap the benefits.
GE TOD! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend 😎
Helllllllllllllllllllllllllo LP!!!
Hi Chips! How goes it?
It goes fine LP, how are you young man?
I’m doing great….I have finals next week and then a month off to finally re-enter the free world 😀
Yiiiiiiiiiikes, finals next week? Wishing you the very, very, very, very best, LP!
It has been a rough few months but I’m really looking forward to wearing out my T.V. remote watching football/basketball and my clogged up Netflix queue
Shouldn’t you be busting your b…s for the finals? Geddouddahere.
And oh, all the very best. Knock’em down.
Sup, desi…yeah I’m on my way out. Had a few spare minutes to drop in and see if anybody was causing any trouble!
S/N I saw Modi/Abe signed a 15B dollar deal to build a bullet train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad….to bad bad you have a Guju running things….maybe you will get toilets as a consolation prize 😕
you mean the 15B that can be better spent on other sorely needed infra projects? fuck gujjus.
best of luck on your final exams;
ps: given how busy you are, did you save time to renew your ObamaCare => I recall the prior hustles so please don’t overlook the timelines
As a matter of fact I spoke the state health agency yesterday and they informed me that they have a re-determination process (If they have all the information they need already I will be automatically re-enrolled again for next year) and will get a packet by the end of the month. Fingers crossed I somehow manage to stay eligible (I still don’t know why they approved me last year) but I counted it up and saving ~450/month in premiums and not having to spend a single dollar on doctors/medicine this year President Obama saved me a minimum of $10,000 out-of-pocket costs I would have incurred!!!
“Barack Obama and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers have a profound respect for each other. It was as recently as November when Obama compared himself to Rodgers in the pocket. That’s about as big of a compliment as one can get. Now, the Packers QB is giving POTUS permission to use his famous Discount Double Check celebration. Before doing a mock screen test for the role of James Bond, TSN’s Cabbie Richards asked whether Rodgers thinks the president celebrates like him after a good day. The ensuing exchange was quite memorable (at the 1:20 mark in the above video)…..
That was pretty cute – thanks for sharing it LP. Good to see you 🙂
Howdy, GGail! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and and an early merry X-mas from me 🙂
The very same to you LP and all the best on your Finals too!
That was fun, LP. Thank you!
Howdy, Meta! You get a chance to see Jessica Jones yet? I’m 2 episodes from completing the final season of Downton Abbey…so sad it is over 😦 …I think I’m going to watch Aziz Ansari’s ‘Master of None’ next….any suggestions on your end 😕
Hey, LP! I haven’t seen JJ yet but it’s on my list. Can’t wait for DA but I’m also sad to see it end. Such an interesting and different show to sink our teeth into. Just started watching AA’s series. Other than that, nothing new to recommend!
Hope you’re having a good holiday season!
This final season of DA is really well done (watched 6/8) episodes so far…(I downloaded it on a tor site I guess it had been airing on iTV and the finally was two weeks ago) I have seen some of the actors on a U.S. media blitz so I assume it will premier on PBS Masterpiece within the next few weeks….I think they may add a X-mas special as well. My next move is to catch up on ‘Luther’ b/c there is a two hour special that airs on BBC America Thursday night http://www.bbcamerica.com/shows/luther/extras/idris-elba-returns-to-bbc-america-in-new-luther-special
Hope you enjoy the holidays as well, Meta. Was nice to catch up!
I also now catching up to Luther. He’s incredible!
LP, you come bearing gifts – THANKS! 😀
I voted for 2 (so far alone) – I find it a photograph that looks like a painting – an amazing photograph, by THE most wonderful of photographers, of the 1st couple doing what they do – I cannot imagine the white house without them.
It’s a beautiful photo 99ts, really loved it too – and ended up with a headache trying to choose between them all. This is meant to be some light-relief-fun!1!1!
Pete Souza could well spend the rest of his life trying to select the “best 100” or TOD could do it for him 🙂
psa. the latest windows 10 update will deny you more than 3hours of your ‘puter time. you’ve been warned.
also. too.
Windows Update: You must restart your computer
Windows Update: Cannot close down because a program is still running
Me: Indeed, Windows Update is still running
😆 You poor thing!!!!!
🙂 I don’t do Windows10 – they will have to pry windows 7 out of my cold dead hands.
Windowsbagger!!!!

Stock markets sink as oil keeps sliding.
Stock markets on both sides of the Atlantic fell on Friday and oil sank further as fears about global oversupply mounted.
In London the FTSE 100 closed under 6,000 points as investors dumped commodities shares.
The blue-chip index ended the day 2.2% lower, down 135 points at 5,952.7.
On Wall Street the S&P 500 fell almost 2%, with the Dow Jones down 1.8% and the Nasdaq 2.2% lower.
Tim Courtney, chief investment officer of Exencial Wealth Advisors, said: “We’re stockpiling commodities and demand is not picking up. It’s kind of a depressing market.”
The International Energy Agency said the oil glut would worsen in 2016 as demand slowed and the Opec cartel showed no signs of cutting production.

If it were so delish, then why only one bite? Shows even rats hate it.
speaking of rats, trapped one today morning. tried the sticky trap for the furst time and it worked. now, what to do with the feller?
O.M.G. I’M GOING TO HAVE NIGHTMARES!!!!!!!!!
I have the pics to prove. you wanna see ’em?
You’ll get a Newtkini every day for the rest of your life.
the damn you-can-use-only-once cost me two bucks. murkan too. now wondering how to remove the feller and reuse it.
I’m feeling ill here…..
wwhhaatt? two bucks is two bucks, ok? It oughta catch more than one, dammit.
When I was a young’un flatting with a friend we had an enormous rat under the kitchen sink – the tail size send me into spasms. Landlord’s wife caught it and removed it. One advantage of renting.
chickenmouse.A couple years ago, where I currently live, there was a mouse in the kitchen – first day it got cold outside that winter, it thought it could live with me. Uh, no. I didn’t actually see it, but heard it.
Was telling my neighbor about it, and I said, “You know what that means. M-O-V-E. Nice knowing you.” (Side note to amk: My son used one of those sticker traps – it was caught by the next morning and I never saw either the mouse running around or the mouse in repose, or the deal would have been off, with staying here.)
I remember when my son was about 5, the last time a field mouse came to call! We, too, were in an apartment, but I couldn’t wait for the landlord so I invited the neighbor downstairs to come up and trap the awful thing. I stood on top of the sofa and my son … wait for it … tried to shoot it with a water pistol. Son was cute, but not so much the mouse.
So glad when I read “water pistol”. In today’s world someone’s son would definitely try to shoot it!!
Our landlord lived across the road – when we went screaming over – he was out – hence the wife. They were post war immigrants – had been through some hard times – no doubt wildlife had been the least of her worries.
You be up late JoB – hope it is calm and peaceful where you are. I like my world when most are asleep – except my new house is in a much more urban area than the old one – too much light – very few stars.
Just seeing this – I’m always up late! That’s what retirementland is all about … no clocks … Yay!
So I love this thread
1. The photos
2. Much better to be discussing rats than …..
3. Rats used to be the lowest form of life. How things change.
also. too. roaches.
two things I hate the most.
I find them both quite appealing compared to that which I am not intending to discuss.
What/Who has the rest of the internet and the US media been promoting for months
Yup, yer right.
Guessing that PBO will probably issue the new round of executive orders on gun control on the anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre next week
Had to be photo No. 9 for me, for all the right reasons.
❤
Ditto.
The Obamas are just good people.
Organisers of the climate talks in Paris say a final text has been agreed after nearly two weeks of intensive negotiations.
An official in the office of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told the AFP news agency the draft would be presented to ministers at 10:30 GMT.
No details of the agreement have been released so far.
The deal in the French capital was reached nearly 16 hours after the talks had been scheduled to close.

Man, can’t believe I have to CHOOSE just one photo. They are all so beautiful, each with their own story and vibe.
I finally decided on photo #2, I think because it conveys PBO’s and MO’s love of the fine arts and their lovely support of all the endeavors of youth. AND, it portrays their deep love and affection for each other. Just altogether super beautiful and comforting to me.
BRAVA and thank you to those who put this collection together. Magnificent.
good morning everyone!
have a fantastic day
Morning!
