Thrilled you posted these Nerdy, thank you, read them earlier and I learnt more about the situation than if I’d read 90 articles by clueless media shills.

That’s the absolute truth, Chips. These tweets lay it all out clearly and simply. The media has no clue what’s going on and so dutifully quote every know-nothing Republican spouting macho bullshit. It’s no wonder Americans are grossly ill-informed.

Can the thugs in congress force a war?

    • 8 jackiegrumbacher
      December 7, 2015 at 11:20 am

Congress technically has the power to declare war, but this Congress is so spineless it won’t even pass an authorization of force. Also ISIL isn’t a state, so who would they declare war against? The President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and is the only one empowered to carry out a war. If the President didn’t think a war was a good idea, I can’t imagine how it would actually happen.

      December 7, 2015 at 11:36 am

It’s rather hilarious. The “war” would still have to be conducted by the CiC. And they say they don’t “trust” PBO, which is why they won’t actually vote to authorize military force.

      They are a farce.

The Islamic State has drawn tens of thousands of people from around the world by promising paradise in the Muslim homeland it has established on conquered territory in Syria and Iraq.

But in reality, the militants have created a brutal, two-tiered society, where daily life is starkly different for the occupiers and the occupied, according to interviews with more than three dozen people who are now living in, or have recently fled, the Islamic State.

    • 22 jackiegrumbacher
      December 7, 2015 at 11:24 am

As PBO said last night, PF, the ISIS guys are thugs and murderers and have no experience in or understanding of how to govern a society. Plus their so-called ‘territory” shifts all the time as they’re driven from one place to another. They are selling snake oil to recruits and those gullible enough to believe become victims of their own stupidity.

  10. December 7, 2015 at 11:24 am

Someone need to remind the racists idiot Donald J. Trump, that Muhammad Ali is a Muslim sports hero that people will always look up too.

Thanks so much for this post, Nerdy. I learned from it.

Last evening, a friend called to say she’d have to catch up with the President’s address and planned to watch it later, but could I tell her if anything new was said. I told her I didn’t hear much “new,” except for some updated parts, but at the end I felt reassured. Told her I believed that’s why the President spoke to the nation.

    This tweet says it better:

  12. December 7, 2015 at 11:40 am

    Well done, NW.

BTW, in case any of you have been wondering why I spend so much time tracking the Peshmerga, YPG, etc …. well, it’s because they are the ones showing the world exactly how you defeat DAESH (and, ultimately, their Salafi Sunni enablers).

    Bottom line ….

#TrustBarack …. yesterday evening was just another example why.

However, the ONLY way America ‘wins’ is to stop being afraid and to stop enriching the War Profiteers and all their proxies including the NRA and our entire corporate media enterprise.

Wishing all of you a fine Monday. Hope to visit again tomorrow.

    • December 7, 2015 at 12:35 pm

Knowing this what must be done is one thing…knowing what to do is another….

i believe that the powers that be were truly worried about what could happen under an OBAMA Presidency…the heights that could be achieved….it was imperative for them to gin up the racist animus that already existed….to keep the so called white working class from seeing that their natural allies are the very folks that they vilified….

using the media and the GOP they tried to undermine the legitimacy of the President…

still after doing all this…the President has stellar accomplishments and he was re-elected….YES WE CAN x 2

now they want to stymie another election of a Dem…they do not have the built in animus of race to use against Hillary…hate and fear unites the GOP base…but what to use….

Muslims….terrorism…immigrants…the GOP has ratcheted up their racist rhetoric to include Nazism…
yeah that ought to do it…

i have yet to understand what role Bernie Sanders and O’Malley are playing here

Here is europe closer the center of crisis and is actually facing the burden of influx of refugees at its borders and yet you don’t see them spewing 24×7 venom against the refugees. But america, sitting safely thousand of miles away from all these chaos and yet to see even one refugee enter its borders, has gone into fully nihilistic xenophobia with the egging and cheering from its gutter press. How does this help its case with the main stream muslims?

I’m obviously not as smart as some.
It never struck me that the remark by Senator Obama was a big deal. Yet, here we are talking about it 7 years later.
Judith’s point that Sen. O made the remark empathetically strikes me as true.

Another big deal was made when the handsome young senator told H she is likable enough. Still don’t see that as the insult the always victimized Clintonista clan claimed it was. Poor put upon H.

Totally agree Jacqueline. Sec. Kerry has accomplished a lot.

      • December 7, 2015 at 3:01 pm

The mileage was legit it’s just the mission statement was different. As John Kerry said her job was to rebuild alliances that had been shredded by you know who and his sidekick Uncle Ugh. That and rebuild the State Department the Mayberry Machiavellians had decimated.

    • 69 hopefruit2
      December 7, 2015 at 1:48 pm

This Goddard guy is very superficial. What’s the point of comparing miles traveled when there is so much more important and relevant comparisons that can be made? We’re interested in the actual accomplishments, and in that regard, Kerry HAS accomplished a lot more than HRC.

But Goddard refuses to look at substance and instead focuses on the superficial – just as he did last night when he made that ridiculous comment about PBO’s “approval rate.”

            Thanks 4more.

Don’t usually engage in troll-like behavior, but this underscores the generosity of most Americans like my white parents (outreach to those affected by war aftermath) versus Erick Erickson’s self-centered personal concern (and unwillingness to change).

Also, think Erickson grew up in small town (not gonna waste my time to look up), and his family probably shunned Cantonese — and China was US ally against Japan during WWII.

Until the 1980s, Japanese restaurants were few and far between in mainland US (outside of California and large east coast cities).

The MSM will aid and abet the GOP by blaming ‘gridlock’ and ‘both sides’.

People need to hear HOW the GOP is causing gridlock and obstruction.

No surprise here, but MSM are shameless GOP shills (aka propaganda arm of GOP).

CNN’s Michelle Kosinski really pissed me off today (my usual reaction, but today more than most days) when she whined “why won’t @POTUS use the words ‘Islamic terrorism?” — as if POTUS’ words aren’t closely monitored overseas, including ISIL public relations.
