I’m glad Nancy’s got a gig that gives her more exposure. She’s getting comments at the Washington Monthly and maybe some lively discussion. And the best part is that more people will be tuned into her insights and talents.

This is just a test to see if any of his handlers are open to the possibility someone tweeting him might actually have a clue. I assure you if he (they) DM’d me they’d be blown away about what they’d learn 🙂

By this time next year, it’ll be obvious even to the clueless that we have a vastly more efficient way to communicate – not only the quality of the signal but the substantial amount of energy (electricity) is required to deliver that quality.

    bbl … if I get a break ….

      Before departing ….

Yup … they’re all fully aware of the enormity of the threat.

As I explain to folk, even those who don’t want to listen – if you just focus on 1 fact, that today more than 1.5 BILLION people live within 5 miles of a Coast Line and then realize that that 1.5 BILLION people could, within the next decade or 2, be REFUGEES due to the rise in Ocean levels, you cannot escape the NATIONAL SECURITY, let alone, humanitarian scale of catastrophe that reality represents.

Just look at the scale of challenge 2 MILLION Syrian refugees is. Then, imagine 1500+ MILLION global refugees (btw, several millions of whom live in NY, NJ, NC, FL, TX, CA, OR & WA).

      gotta go …………

The US News Media is Complicit and their duplicity, that is what has produced a cynical Public and a brazen GOPers in their endless willingness to dupe, lie, distort and invent lies 24/7.
Candy Crowley and Chuck Todd both stated publicly that it was Not the Job of Journos to point out the lies. Heck, Chuck Todd in 2012 was the 1st to tweet out talking points for GOPers when POTUS was quoted out of context on You Didn’t build that. The GOPers ran with that and built their 3 days Convention on You Didn’t Build That. Romney earned over 39 pants on fire from Politifact…….yet the US News Media looked the other way.

This drives me absolutely bonkers! It’s not vigilantism, it’s journalism. How do they not know this? Why use the negative question, as if there’s something wrong with doing what readers expect you to do — figure out the facts. There was another similar question posed by the Times before this one, and there was such a firestorm (including me!) they closed down the comments and said the question was misunderstood. Right! If I were prone to despair, this would be one of the ways I’d get there.

70 yrs ago, it was not uncommon for photographers to use props to make a wife taller or to make a husband taller.
I would have said it’s a shrinkage due to old age. Yes, there is some of that. However, the husband should have also gotten the Ageism Shrinkage too.
Hence, A Prop was like it 😉

Since when is the opinion of a 13-year old kid so important that it is reported in the media? Oh, I forgot. As long as the opinion trashes President Obama, it is worthy of MSM.

      November 30, 2015 at 3:03 pm

Where were this kids parents in all of this, and if it took this situation to make this kid turn his back on conservatism, why wasn’t he championing the cause of Liberalism or the Progressive Movement? I’m sorry but you don’t make a video calling President Obama “ignorant” one day and the next day you’re turning your back on conservatism.

      November 30, 2015 at 4:43 pm

Paul Ryan is looking for some attention, I guess…. so much so that he couldn’t even await the President’s ‘formal’ response? He ends his letter dated today – ‘I look forward to your reply’, then rushes to announce the SOTU date on twitter?!!!! Or is the little pipsqueak trying to force the president’s hand? Does he not know the president is out of the country today? smh

      • November 30, 2015 at 4:50 pm

Paul Ryan is not the budget expert that the GOP and media promotes him to be. However, he’s a hell more clever than John Boehner. My heart sank when I realized Ryan would be named Speaker because I knew it meant some trouble. More nastiness, more dirty games. Ryan is mean and dislikes the president. Boehner is an old school politician but he’s not really mean and he likes the president. Boehner is a better human being than Ryan is. And I suspect President Obama much prefers John Boehner as a person than Paul Ryan. Sigh.

          November 30, 2015 at 4:59 pm

Hi, LP2008. I’m confident PBO will handle Ryan and his childish tactics, because that is all this probably is.

IMO Ryan isn’t even cognizant enough to realize that tweeting out such a letter dated today is a signal to any thinking person that he is not in touch, or doesn’t care, about important issues facing government.

“…plenty of people have tried to explain why Baltimore erupted. Few, if any, offer Watkins’ insider perspective. He is a native of “Bodymore, Murderland,” as the city has been called, a 35-year-old man who went from being a squeegee boy and crack dealer to an author and college professor with three degrees. He writes under the name D. Watkins, and his first book, “The Beast Side: Living (and Dying) While Black in America,” offers a take on race relations that has been praised by everyone from David Simon, creator of HBO’s “The Wire,” to Chuck Todd, host of “Meet the Press.”

I am at the point of NOT listening or watching any news, national or local, because of the hatred for PBO, women, minorities, etc. I wish Oprah and other AA’s or other period tired of this corporate crap, who could pool their money and buy a national television & radio station just so America can have REAL news once again.

      He doesn’t b.s. …..

This was your first visit and everyone was concerned about your safety. What would you say to a world that thinks Africa is nothing but a victim of war and destruction?

“Africa is a victim, Africa has always been exploited by other powers, African slaves were sold in America. There are powers that simply want to take Africa’s great riches – it is perhaps the world’s richest continent – but they do not think about helping countries to grow so that everyone can work. Africa is a martyr of exploitation. Those who claim that all adversities and wars come out of Africa have no idea of the harm certain forms of development are doing to humanity. That is why I love Africa, because it has been a victim of other powers.”

What is the Vatican’s position with regard to the current crisis in relations between Russia and Turkey? Have you considered going to Armenian for the 101st anniversary of the Armenian massacre?

“Last year I promised the three patriarchs I would go. The promise remains. Regarding wars: these grow out of ambition. I am not talking about those which are fought out of just defence against an unjust aggressor. Wars are an industry. Throughout history, we have seen on a number of occasions how a country whose finances are not doing too well, decides to go to war and straighten out its finances. War is a business. Terrorists, do they manufacture weapons? Who gives them weapons? There is a whole network of interests, behind which you find money and power. We have been going through a world war fought piecemeal and each time the pieces are less like pieces, they are geeing bigger and bigger. I don’t know what the Vatican thinks. What do I think? I think wars are sinful, they destroy humanity, they are a cause of exploitation and human trafficking. They need to stop. Twice, both in New York and Kenya, I said to the United Nations: your work should not be that of a declamatory nominalism. Here in Africa, I saw how the Blue Helmets work but it is not enough. Wars are not a thing of God, God is the God of peace, he created a beautiful world. In the Bible, we read about a brother killing a brother: the first world war. And it pains me deeply to say this.”

        • November 30, 2015 at 5:43 pm

You have shown many gestures of friendship and respect towards Muslims. What do Islam and Mohammed’s teachings tell today’s world?

“Dialogue is possible, they have many values and these values are constructive. I am also friends with a Muslim, a world leader. We are able to talk. He has his values I have mine, he prays and so do I. Many values; prayer, fasting. You cannot wipe out a religion just because there are some or a number of groups of fundamentalists at one moment in history. It is true, there have always been wars between faiths and we too need to ask for forgiveness: Catherine de’ Medici was no saint and that war that lasted 30 years, St. Bartholomew’s Day massacre… We also need to ask for forgiveness. But they have values and dialogue is possible. Today I went to the mosque, the Imam wanted to come with me. A Pope and an Imam both got into the Popemobile. Think of all the wars we Christians have waged. It wasn’t the Muslims who were responsible for the Sack of Rome.”

Nor were Muslims (or Jews or other Christians) responsible for the genocidal travesties of the Crusades ….

Yes. and I am very optimistic that we will see a great result from these talks.

Prettyfoot—in answer to your dismay that the Saturday night JJ (D) Dinner in New Hampshire received Zero press notice, I offer the thought that the DNC knows that The Candidate they have chosen is a tone deaf dud and they are glad to limit the public’s exposure to her. A few days before the dinner she was advocating no fly zones in Syria and sending more American troops in.
Her opponent is a cranky guy with a foreign policy that sounds more like Ron Paul then the (D) party. (D) choices are bleak and seeing them more is unlikely to improve matters.

In contrast—-today’s news is agog with some endorsement Christie got.

In 2012 the GOP erred in predicting a Romney win. Some RW voters got complacent.
They won’t make the same mistake twice.
The GOP will get record turnout by demonizing the (D.) Fear and hate will give them the win.

Our best chance was to run a (D) candidate that people actually like.

Trump says we should be monitoring everyone of the Muslim faith, keeping some kind of registry, maybe even issuing special ID cards….

Who is next? Catholics? Trade unionists?

Well Donald Trump, when you start your registry of Americans who oppose your backward, neo-fascist ideas,
