What difference will that make in people’s lives, exactly? Except to see Snowden and his cult followers take a victory lap….

        November 29, 2015 at 8:36 am

Snowden can take as any victory laps as he wants to from Russia.

He and his cult followers will use this development as an excuse to advance his request for a pardon by the US government….

I never even THINK that about traitor and he can rot in Russia for all I care. I’m very happy that this will be happen and a warrant will need to be gotten. Americans generally have no idea that this had ever gone on (yet another GWB cleanup). I don’t believe that PBO ever thought this was alright to begin with. An individual’s right to privacy is an important one. I could care less about Snowden and this particular issue. It’s not WHAT he did, but HOW he did it and WHAT he did with the info that pisses me off! He can rot over there.

          November 29, 2015 at 8:59 am

Agreed df. Also, Snowden was not the first to raise the issue – the administration had brought it up in 2009 (There was a NYT article).

Whatever information the Government was obtaining through phone logs or whatever never really bothered me for some reason. As long as I can remember I always thought that the government was spying on its citizens, I guess if that were true then the divorce rate would sky rocket. I guess in essence it really doesn’t bother me what the government knows or doesn’t know. As long as my 401k gets a reasonable return every year I’m okay.

I remember when the Patriot Act first came into being…while I was on the phone, I would say something like ” FU, George! I know you’re listening!” and continue on with my conversation…… Privacy is important to me…If you want to hear what I’m saying on the phone, then go through the proper channels and get a warrant to listen, otherwise, stay the hell out of my business. Just me. I have nothing to hide, for me, it’s the principle of the thing. We’re better than that…or should be.

    • November 29, 2015 at 9:35 am

Snowden still committed a crime, and he don’t need to come back here acting like some hero. Let him stay in Russia.

Morning all. All the little rituals of the President’s family on the holidays– from the turkey pardoning to the father/daughter shopping to the lighting of the National Christmas tree–have become so important to us during these years. I honestly never cared what other presidents did and will no longer care after 2017. But I will miss something precious in our holidays when I can no longer see the Obama daughters’ faces and the joy their father has in just being with them.
I’m still sore from all the outdoor Christmas decorating yesterday. At this point I think the number of lights on our house could guide a small plane to land. These days I overdo the lights and the decor thinking of what will make our little granddaughter’s eyes light up. l

    • November 29, 2015 at 9:09 am

you are so right Jackie…we clutch to our memories of the President’s time in the WH…but i must say that i think that best is yet to come…

another article in the WP about what the DEMS need to do…to win the WH specifically…Clinton…as always…they fail to mention the GOP Obstruction Strategy and racism lobbied against the President…and that the DEMS lost bad 2010 and 2014 because of their own ODS….

the article fails to mention the historic wins of the President…and to admit..that when it comes to winning…PBO know how to WIN…..

it is rather pathetic and tragic…

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/for-democrats-its-not-just-demographics-as-destiny/2015/11/28/199d3a18-9539-11e5-a2d6-f57908580b1f_story.html

      here is the article…

Pf, this article is a mess. It dismisses the miraculous economic recovery PBO engineered as “just getting us back to where we were.’ It ignores every piece of legislation offered by the WH that would have improved the lives of workers that were flatly rejected by the Republican led Congress to the point of not even being brought to a vote. It states that Republican prospects in 2016 are bright without saying why. It posits Republican control of all branches of government without mentioning the destruction this would wreak on the economy and the world. It praises Bill Clinton’s presidency to the sky without examining the racist hatred stirred up by the GOP against President Obama. You’re right it’s a pathetic and shallow article.

Interesting read, but the candidates must know that they are playing a dangerous game by trying to imply that they are Christian Soldiers. I have no problem if the person Iโ€™m voting for declares or declines to declare their faith. But what I do have a problem with is a politician that comes out trying to preach brimstone and hellfire. I donโ€™t think a politician can effectively serve two masters.

    Good morning TOD.
The NY Times had an in depth article on POTUS and his climate policy . I learned a lot and want to share some of the things that Douglas Brinkley who is a presidential historian, said.

.”He (PBO) comes to Paris with a moral authority that no other President has had on climate change. No other President has had a climate change policy. It makes him unique.”
Brinkley again, “If his domestic regulations and a Paris accord withstand efforts to change them, climate change will become the heart and soul of his Presidency.”

(The GOP opposition is predictably fierce. Even if it goes well in Paris they will vote 100 times or more to repeal and destroy the progress made. Same old party of utter destruction.)

I am cheering POTUS and the world on as they convene in Paris.

Wow..Fierce article….he does not predict what the outcome will be…..but he does not offer hope and inspiration… that we can beat back the darkness of fear and despair….

i am not going to let the talons of gloom in this article pierce my heart or spirit….

it is time for white folks of good will to stand up and fight the darkness of fear and despair…

(i am encouraged that some will do so…i was encourage by much of the push back from some of the white bloggers on twitter: re the terror killings at PP)

…blk folks will continue to struggle as we always have…this is not new to us…we have no choice…

      *****************
a lot will be told in 2016…as the DEMs select their Candidate…and of course the role of the President…

it should be rather earth shattering

Carson after tour: Syrian refugees don’t want to come to US
    Nov. 28, 2015 4:46 PM ET

AZRAQ REFUGEE CAMP, Jordan (AP) โ€” After touring refugee camps in Jordan, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Saturday suggested that camps should serve as a long-term solution for millions, while other refugees could be absorbed by Middle Eastern countries.

“I did not detect any great desire for them to come to the United States,” Carson told The Associated Press in a phone interview from Jordan. “You’ve got these refugee camps that aren’t completely full. And all you need is the resources to be able to run them. Why do you need to create something else?”
