I’m going to have to agree with GGail about the stupid update to the iPhone that now makes you sign in with your email/screen name…etc whenever you want to post a comment from your iPhone!! What in the WIDE DAMN WORLD is your problem Apple??!! Change it back to the way it was! Honestly, these people just need to invent something new and quit dorking around with things that work fine already..STOP IT! THIS IS ANNOYING!

Got that off my chest. For now.

Well, my iPhone4 officially died this afternoon, around 1:45, so that is that. Sighs audibly. Now I guess it’s time for a new phone, it will not be an iPhone. No. Sighs audibly, again. ;( ❀ {{ MP }} ❀ 🐻

Hello TOD friends. These are pictures of our lovely Tally from Saturday night from the Huntington Library, Drama After Dark: A Night of the Macabre with Poe and Gorey. You can see Tally in the background on some of these. The evening was perfect, a full moon and very pleasant SoCal fall evening. GGail, Sue, Purpleshoes, my friend J.C brought along a friend for a wonderful evening.

Oh Donna, I only saw about this in the last hour, I feel physically ill after watching it. There are so many aspects to it that are beyond shocking, but even in the two short clips I saw you could sense the fear when he walked in the room, the silence, some of the students were actually cowering. They knew his history. And the teacher stood there and did and said nothing. It’s not enough for this scumbag to be sacked, he needs to be charged and locked up, God knows what else he has done in his time when there was no video.

When will this ever ****ing end?

my goodness. i knew a lot about the egregious liability of king BUSH the 2nd in allowing the twin towers to come down – things such as some the specific warnings made by richard clarke (clinton appointee) and george tenant and the fact the dumbya stayed at his fake ranch for what ended up being the longest vacation presidential history despite all the major warnings, but had no idea the warnings were this bad:
    http://www.nybooks.com/blogs/nyrblog/2015/oct/21/bush-responsibility-twin-towers/

this article alone should put georgie and some of his administration behind bars. unbelievable “the major news” actively keeps this info from the public/voters. feels strange seeing actual journalism, but thankful nonetheless.

    How would they know?
Have they and the other group since 2011 restored the AAA+ Credit Ratings of the USA?

  15. October 26, 2015 at 8:37 pm

And that’s what they are getting ready to do again. One final time. One final time, because this time, the deal is for 2 years, and it is raising the debt limit to March of 2017, safely past President Obama’s time in the Oval Office. And this time they are actually increasing spending on domestic programs, in violation of everything holy in Paul Ryan’s Path to Poverty. I guess even the Republicans get exhausted of losing to this man at some point.

    http://www.idahostatesman.com/2015/10/25/4053206_life-in-coverage-gap-turns-tragic.html?rh=1

IDAHO FALLS β€” On the last weekend of August, Jason and Jenny Steinke talked about their future. For the first time in a while, it looked positive. Jason had just landed a good-paying mechanic job with benefits. Jenny was set to be a grandmother.

That weekend, they found time to escape for a quick Island Park camping trip, one of their favorite activities. Several weekends prior the couple drove from their home in Idaho Falls to Grand Targhee Ski Resort, where they listened to music and rode the chairlift to the top of the mountain.

β€œWe just enjoyed each other’s company,” Jason, 43, said recently. β€œI’m grateful for those three weeks, because they were three really good weeks.”

Yet something weighed on the couple. During the Island Park trip, Jason and Jenny talked at length about her worsening asthma. Nearly a decade ago the 36-year-old had been diagnosed with the condition that inflames and narrows the airways.

The asthma flared up every so often, once requiring hospitalization, but hadn’t usually required much attention. Without insurance, Jenny sometimes obtained short-acting inhalers from a community health clinic. Other times, she bought them off friends who had extras.

The inhalers usually helped. But over the summer months Jenny needed them more frequently. On the camping trip she was using her inhaler every hour, Jason noticed. The more she used it, it seemed, the shorter the duration of relief.

Still, the Steinkes didn’t panic. With Jason’s new job at Utility Trailer, they would finally have health-care coverage. The insurance was set to kick in Sept. 1, two days after they returned from the camping trip. Surely Jenny could wait until then to see an asthma specialist, they told each other.

β€œNow that I had insurance, we were going to try to get the asthma under control,” Jason said.

Pro life my ass. Can you guess what happens next?

    // …………………………….

As someone who has followed the words and actions of President Obama extremely closely over the last 8 years, all of this sounds extremely familiar. It is basically a recitation of his approach to politics. From what I’ve read about Justices Sotomayor and Kagan, it also seems to capture how they approach their work on the Supreme Court as well. Here’s what Sotomayor wrote about that in her book, My Beloved World:

“I could see that troubling the waters was occasionally necessary to bring attention to the urgency of some problem. But this style of political expression sometimes becomes an end in itself and can lose potency if used routinely. If you shout too loudly and too often, people tend to cover their ears…

Quiet pragmatism, of course, lacks the romance of vocal militancy. But I felt myself more a mediator than a crusader…Always, my first question was, what’s the goal? And then, who must be persuaded if it is to be accomplished?…If you want to change someone’s mind, you must understand what need shapes his or her opinion. To prevail, you must first listen…”

And so it prompts a few questions for me. If this is an approach to democratic processes that is embraced by some of the most brilliant minds in our midst, why is it not a strategy more consistently discussed? ……………………………
    …………………………………………………………..

Is it possible that it is the combined efforts of Justices Ginsburg, Sotomayor and Kagan that have kept the Supreme Court from devolving into the same chaos as we’ve seen recently from a Republican-controlled Congress?’

    What changed, one may ask?
Money made from Books, targeting exclusively, the conservatives.
In the 1980s, The Reader’s Digest did a profile on Dr. Carson. His resume was quite impressive.

agree to this wholeheartedly! even despite solid economic numbers for the most part. should of been able to parlay that into an al gore win, but with bill and his sex with an intern in white house, ‘the news” and republicans were able to vilify democrats in general enough to overcome any good news.

I think one of the reasons that donald dreck and the head case of a doc resonate with the rw’ers is that they see the hypocrisy of their own cong critters and then they see the ‘successful, self-made’ people like these two.

I’m starting to believe that the extremist language of the R presidential candidates could actually have a big impact on Latino turnout next year. Today we got feedback from volunteers who have been canvassing Latino neighborhoods that Donald Trump is deeply feared by many Latino voters. In fact, many wanted to come out and vote against him this year, as if he were an actual nominee and this was a presidential year. Puerto Ricans especially expressed fear that Trump would take away their citizenship. Trump, Carson, Bush, Cruz and the whole sorry bunch may think they’re talking to the crazy Republican base, but other people are listening and the fear, anger and repugnance are growing.
