Really great post Nerdy Wonka! The so called “mainstream media” is not at all interested in rallies like this. Yet yesterday they were all over a handful of white supremacists gun nuts in oregon who showed up to protest against President because he was meeting with victims of gun violence. Thank you so much for the time and labor you put in to keep the TOD community informed.

Yes Indeed, PF! I am so grateful that NW covered this important event.

Thanks Nerdy for this excellent post. This is a great selection of inspiring photos and tweets.
I guess if there was a shoot-out or a drunken brawl, the media would be all over this event. But without any of that – no coverage. Hmmm….

If media thought the gathering would reinforce racist stereotypes it would have covered and hyped the event. Shows of Black empowerment are a threat to white supremacy and are rarely covered fairly (if at all) by current GOP controlled media. MLK’s strategy of using media to broadcast evil of white supremacy would probably not work with today’s corrupt media. Pro-GOP agenda trumps reporting truth and reality.

Indeed Eric, and as we now see – the rally is now top-trending on Twitter, but not for the right reasons…Basically Twitter waited to find something that could be perceived a negative light before they allowed the rally to trend…

So the million man march is now the top trend on twitter – and the only reason is that it’s featuring an article which claims that a speaker was chanting “Down, down USA.” Hey Twitter, why is this the top trend on a day-long march? Is that the only thing that happened? I don’t think so.

Wow. I’m playing catch-up, and totally forgot all about this anniversary march. The few times I briefly turned on cable news today … well, that’s odd, don’t recall seeing any coverage. Argghh.

    Thank you, NW!

Hello there Jo’B! I join you in thanking Nerdy Wonka for highlighting this historic event. TOD community is blessed with Nerdy Wonka! She posts so much information that is usually neglected, minimized, and blacked out by the so called “mainstream media.” I don’t have cable. But it is not just cable that neglected to cover this story. Network channels (ABC, CBS, NBC) didn’t devote any meaningful time in covering the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March.

The ability of GOP pretenders to rewrite history is bewildering – and still the media will not call them out – guess the pundits all failed history in school.

“At this point, reaching out to me wonโ€™t do any good.”

You are not alone COS! I am not interested in any Democrat who has been going around disrespecting President Obama, or running against him based on distortions about his policies, or who is out there failing to acknowledge his impressive accomplishments. In the general election, I will probably cover my nose and vote for any Democratic nominee for President. But I will NOT contribute a cent, or volunteer my time, to any Democratic candidate running for office who insists on running against President Obama, or consistently fails to acknowledge President Obama’s accomplishments. My meagre contributions will go to Democrats who have consistently supported President Obama and who are not shy about acknowledging his impressive accomplishments during his two terms as President.

Democrats constantly attacking President Obama, or finding an excuse to run against President Obama even if it means distorting his policies, or denying and minimizing his accomplishments have made a choice: they could care less about me as an informed Obama supporter. Consequently, I too had to make a choice: I could care less about any Democrat who is out there running against Obama, distorting his record, or minimizing his impressive accomplishments!

I know there are people who say that my lack of enthusiasm for Democratic candidates running against President Obama, or constantly disrespecting him and distorting his record of accomplishments, will help the Republicans. But as afar as I am concerned, It’s the Democrats who are constantly attacking, opposing, and running against President Obama who are aiding and abetting the Republicans. Instead of going out of their way to show how much they oppose and disagree with President Obama, Democratic candidates, at all levels of elected office, should be out there focused on attacking and exposing the utter insanity that has taken over the Republican party.

      from the article….

“Have you ever had encounters where there was a lot more feeling involved than the words that were said?” Dietz told PEOPLE. “That’s the kind of meeting this was. He’s the president of the United States, but he was very there in the moment with us. It was a good feeling.”

      glad that the President went..

Hay the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals today, to tie the series 1-1. I think they head to Wrigley Field now. I can’t stand the owner of the Cubs, but I am watching them because they usually losers, have been for along time. They remind me of the Boston Red Sox before they finally won the World Series after 100 years. I remember our wonderful FLOTUS talking about her father being a Cubs fan, how she used to watch the Cubs games with him. So it would be nice to see the Cubs invited to the White House.

    • October 10, 2015 at 10:26 pm

I’m not saying the Cubs will make it to the World Series, but if by some miracle they did I would root for them.

      • October 10, 2015 at 10:48 pm

So would I. PO and FL would be thrilled and I have a few special friends here who are some of the long-suffering fans.

        • October 10, 2015 at 11:07 pm

POTUS would do so happily but grudgingly. He is a devout White Sox fan and we have a huge intra-city rivalry here. He doesn’t even follow the Cubs on Twitter when he follows every other Chicago sports team. The Cubs were offended by that. It’s all in good fun but some people take their loyalties very seriously and POTUS is one of them! I can’t stand the racist owner (the Ricketts patriarch). I will cheer for the Cubs even though I am a White Sox fan all the way. I want them to win in memory of Ernie Banks. Let’s play two!

          • October 10, 2015 at 11:29 pm

Look I’m a Dallas Cowboys fan and I can’t stand Jerry Jones. I wish he would sell the team. People will root for the Cubs because when you think of the Cubs you think of losers. You feel so so so sorry for their fans.
