        How is Danny doing?

        • October 5, 2015 at 4:40 pm

He’s doing great 57, was laughing at him today as we approached the scene of waspgate and he climbed up the riverbank to take a VERY large detour! The paw seems to be fine, but I’m still keeping a close eye, it seemed to clear up the first time but came back. How are your beauties doing, are they recovering from their recent ordeals?

Have you been back to the vet if the problem came back? Are we still sure it was wasp-gate induced?

Kasper’s on the special food to see if the stones dissolve. He was always a “challenge” in the housebreaking dept. (read: never get a bichon frisee) but the food makes him drink more, so he pees more……… We’ll know in two weeks if the food is dissolving stones. If not, it’s another kind of stone and he’ll need surgery!

            • October 5, 2015 at 5:04 pm

I didn’t take him back in the end because after the limp returned that time he hasn’t had any trouble, but definitely if it reappears I’ll take him.

Ah, poor auld Kasper, this must be a deeply uncomfortable time! Give him a snuggly hug for me.

Kasper LOVES the new food. He thinks he’s getting something really special. He doesn’t seem uncomfortable at all. Of course at any time it could become an emergency. He is, however, uber-pissed that his trick of putting his pretty little head on my knee while I’m eating, looking up at me with the most beautiful eyes you’ve ever seen, is not getting him a piece of steak. He absolutely cannot have one crumb of anything other than this food for at least three weeks.

Been enjoying yet another PBO victory today in regards to TPP. Thank God OUR president doesn’t stick his head in the sand and allow china to dictate global trade for the next 30 years. I’ve doubly been enjoying tweaking the ‘feel the bern’ crowd as well over this. His supporters online are so ridiculous. My comment that his stance on trade should DQ him from running for prez got a lot of response, hah ha!

Wasn’t Prez Obama supposed to be a lame duckie or something?

Be nice if large numbers of (D) come out to support him.

My theory on this is that the resistance of the anti-trade crowd indicates that they are legislators from yesterday.
Instead of seeing current reality, they are addressing trade as if the old balances in the world still hold.
The World is changing and will continue to do so. Our President is legislating for tomorrow.

Hillary Clinton faulted her former boss, President Barack Obama, for his strict enforcement of deportation laws in a Telemundo interview that aired Monday. She said as president she would be “much less harsh.”

Clinton was pressed on immigration during the interview with Maria Celesta Arraras that taped on Friday in Miami, especially on her claim that she would “go further” than Obama on immigration. When asked if she thinks Obama has done everything within his executive power to improve the current immigration system, Clinton cited the President’s increased enforcement of deportation laws as a mistake by the administration.

      • October 5, 2015 at 7:45 pm

What really infuriates me is she is reinforcing the misnomer “deporter-in-chief” to Latino audiences. He clearly stated what he was doing and why.

        • 71 vcprezofan2
          October 5, 2015 at 8:07 pm

If this is really what HRC said, as opposed to an interpretation by the reporter, it is a perfect example of one reason I do not feel any great sense of loyalty towards *her*, especially in the primary stage. I see no reason why HRC cannot run a clean, supportive campaign on the strength of what her party has done in the past 61/2 years, looking for strengths to highlight as opposed to seeking out perceived *flaws* and highlighting them. It’s also why I find it difficult to agree fully with those who were suggesting earlier that she should be given a pass, or that we should go easier on her. In my opinion she has been, and probably always will be, a back stabber in pursuit of her own coronation. Quite frankly while she is better that the best Republican, IMO she lacks the political character and leadership that would merit uncontested coronation. Honestly, though I would vote for her if my options were between her and the GOP *devils*, I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing so because I have little respect for her. It’s a pity – she is what she is – but were she to win, and with more votes that PBO, I can already see her gloating, whereas I can’t imagine him doing that.

          • October 5, 2015 at 8:11 pm

I completely agree with all that you said.

There’s no reason for her to be nitpicking at PBO. There are plenty of ways to highlight her views and contrast them with the freakin’ GOP! I really don’t get it beyond what I’ve already said about what I think of her.

            • 73 vcprezofan2
              October 5, 2015 at 8:20 pm

She makes me mad because while we are trying to prepare ourselves to stand with her *if* she wins is awarded the nomination, she is out there weekly *not standing with* the Democratic president. To my mind, the irony is that HRC is trying to do to PBO what we are being asked not to do to her…..AND she deserves it, whereas IMO he doesn’t.

Hang tough, Meta; don’t let this get you down. HRC may be persistent, and pugnacious, and female, and all those other lovely characteristics hers supporters extol, but my bottom line is that she lacks (political) character, and clearly hasn’t learnt much in this regard from the excellent modeling that’s been in her face over the past 6+ years. Some of us might have wished that after 2008 and the years in between she would have come back with more nuance to her political persona but she *hasn’t*. Sadly.

“It’s also why I find it difficult to agree fully with those who were suggesting earlier that she should be given a pass, or that we should go easier on her.”

Excellent point, vc. I believe I also read those comments you’re referring to earlier, and shared similar thoughts as you – that we are currently in the primary phase of the election, and we need to let the democratic process play out – there should be no coronations, or letting people off the hook until they have won the nomination fair and square, and are running the against the GOP in the general.

And as you say, HRC’s own style of campaigning makes it rather difficult for me to want to support her, or come to her defense when she’s attacked. Her constant undermining of this President is not only ill-advised for her own success as a potential nominee, but it ultimately empowers the same parties who spent the last 6-7 yrs obstructing/hating him and hurting this country because of it.

            • October 5, 2015 at 8:21 pm

              THIS.

We are in a primary process. Remember 2008? Because I sure do.

I would hope that this is a place where we should be able to air out our differences and share our arguments and agreements. Once the primary is over, then we coalesce behind the Democratic nominee.

/I’ll say this in a whisper because it might be “unfair” – Sometimes her actions as they reference PBO make me wonder if she doesn’t share similar sentiments. I think it in particular when she/her people mention how much more effective she would be working with the Repubs./

                October 5, 2015 at 8:35 pm

Yes, sometimes I do feel that there is still a part of her that strongly resents PBO, and feels that she needs to one-up him whichever way she can and whenever she can. E.g., the Chelsea pregnancy announcement at the same time PBO announced an important ACA milestone. Then just recently, she tried to rain on his parade by putting out an announcement on the Keystone pipeline, while he was giving an important speech/presser or some such.

                • October 5, 2015 at 9:33 pm

She resents him indeed. However, I think that what we are witnessing is, mainly, PANDERING.

ALL she is doing has to be seen from an electoral point of view. She panders to everybody. She wants to win the Latinos so she will use every simplistic, distorting rhetoric to woo them. Same thing with the TPP. I’m sure she is FOR it but since it’s politically difficult right now , she has “evolved” and is against it. Last week it was Syria… she had to please her allies in the national establishment.

Hillary Clinton has no political courage. And she always thinks short term; what position is easier politically, what is less risky for her electoral prospects, what can help her NOW… And if she has to “evolve” again on a subject, she thinks she’ll find a way. She’s exactly the same as Bill. Electoral considerations before anything else.

I don’t know if Joe Biden has the stomach to run against her, but she surely makes it tempting for him with all her criticism of the administration.

Yes, yes… if she wins the nomination, all democrats have to rally behind her. But she makes it more and more difficult for the Obama supporters to be happy about it.

The Vicki duo at TOD agree.

Instead of acting as if PBO as been sleeping on gun regulation—-start with a mention of all that POTUS has done—- 23 Executive Actions for example— Then promise to work with President Obama to get the job done and vow to carry the fight forward.

Same thing with Immigration. Acknowledge the successes of PBO, then identify what both of you are working towards.

It is not that hard to figure out how to expand on Winning.

Whoever is advising HRC needs to remind her first of all that she’s not running against PBO’s two terms – which by ANY standard have been nothing short of spectacular. And simply uttering words that sound appealing to audiences, but is constitutionally unfeasible or impossible, is not going help her bid for President.

PBO is a constitutional scholar with respect for the rule of law. His thinking is that laws CAN and SHOULD be changed through a democratic process of debate, input from voters/public, and votes through the legislative body – the idea that you enforce some but not others just based on your ideological slant at the moment is not only lazy but sets a very dangerous precedent.

        • October 5, 2015 at 8:19 pm

I agree with everything Hopefruit, Meta and VC have said here.
It seems so obvious. PBO won twice and is doing a sensational job.
Run to demonstrate you understand this and want to keep it going.

        • October 5, 2015 at 10:33 pm

Well said, hopefruit2! Somebody also needs to remind HRC that almost 70 million people voted for PBO in 2008 and another 66 million in 2012. A great many of those were first time voters who were inspired by President Obama. Running against President Obama is, IMHO, a guaranteed recipe for turning-off Obama supporters. Speaking for myself, right now I am not at all enthusiastic about either HRC or Bernie Sanders (BS). They both seem to be running against President Obama instead of running against the insane Republicans. If HRC and BS keep disrespecting and denigrating PBO’s accomplishments, then I see absolutely no reason why they deserve my respect or my enthusiastic support.
