Morning, AMK. I wish this were really something we could laugh off, but millions of Americans are brainwashed to think and vote against their best interests. The right wing propaganda over many decades has been very effective.

    Meet H&M’s First Hijab-Wearing Model

Check out the latest campaign for retail giant H&M and you’ll catch Mariah Idrissi, the chain’s first ever hijab-wearing model. With the fashion industry directing more of a keen eye towards diversity, this is a really exciting development.

The importance of her casting isn’t lost on the 23-year-old London native, who told BuzzFeed Life being included in the campaign “means a lot.”

Even more importantly, Idrissi felt like H&M was incredibly considerate in terms of making her feel comfortable on set.

“(H&M) asked how much in terms of neck I could show, but to be honest, they were very respectful,” she said. “If the cameraman noticed something not quite right, they would call a woman over to fix me. One of the watches was dangling in the wrong way, and rather than just twisting it on my wrist, the cameraman asked a woman to come over. It just showed that little bit of respect.”

He only got 21 years for murdering all those people!!!!! Last night a woman was murdered by the state for killing one man 18 years ago. There’s something drastically wrong with the world’s justice system.

Death penalty is illegal in the European Union. It had been for a long time in most western countries. In fact it is outlawed in all western countries, except United States.

Africa, that’s a truth that we have to keep hammering home to voters. It was the President alone who turned this country around–not the GOP led Congress, which did everything it could to put a drag on the economy.

Morning and thanks so much, Chips, for that wonderful photo. I used to love visiting the UN as a young girl, which was only a short train ride from my home. There was something about the rooms there that instilled a sense of peace. I was so inspired by those trips that I founded a UN club when I got to high school so we could learn about and support what the UN was doing. Ah, the idealism of youth.

We don’t like folks who suggest murder because “abortion!”

“Terri Butler, a Labor Party lawmaker, asked Peter Dutton, the immigration minister, to deny a visa to the “anti-choice extremist” because, she warned, Newman could “cause significant harm to our community” because he had previously called for the execution of abortion providers.”

dictator putin knows the war profiteer games as well as the bush family. that’s why they had him to the family compound in maine…
    http://www.businessinsider.com/george-w-bush-describes-going-fishing-with-putin-2014-12

president obama has neutralized many of their go-to boogeymen that they would use to justify military spending and action, so vlad was willing to step up in time and be a tool republicans use to try and steal another presidential election. “the news” will play along breathlessly whipping up fear about russia takeovers and such, and how president obama “is losing” to the strong-willed putin. only a tough-talking daddy figure will be able to save us now, is what we’ll see incessantly on upchuck todd’s 6 times/week republican talking point delivery vehicle called “meet the press.” we’ll be seeing more and more “the news” focusing in on that daddy figure being jeb BUSH!. second verse, same as the first.

    • September 30, 2015 at 11:03 am

The meeting is making us suspicious indeed.

You know what ? I’ve become so cynical that I wonder WHO is funding the Talibans in Afghanistan. Could be Putin. (Payback for the 1980s). OR could it be some criminals allied to the Bush clan ?

Let’s say I find it curious that when a war is avoided, a new big “problem” suddenly appears in another part of the world.

Iran war avoided. Merely a few weeks after, a Taliban victory in Afghanistan… There had only been some terrorist attacks, bombs, etc. But suddenly the Talibans are strong enough they take a whole city ?? WHO is arming them ?

“Let’s say I find it curious that when a war is avoided, a new big “problem” suddenly appears in another part of the world.”

yep. perpetual war means perpetual profits. it’s especially good for them when a liberal is in power, since they can add on the “weak” tag to try and win elections on top of the profiteering. only the strong macho patriots (meaning republicans according to “the news”) can save us when that happens!

I watched part one of Charlie Rose’s interview with President Putin last night. Did anyone else ?

I found it very interesting, but Charlie Rose acted like a juvenile imo. At one point Putin said : I have answered that question 4 times already. Then asked Rose how long he had been a journalist. Rose had the nerve to ask Putin is PBO is ” weak “. Putin said absolutely NOT. !

I am paraphrasing. Rose always tries to TELL people what they are thinking instead o ASKING what they think on a matter.

    • September 30, 2015 at 10:49 am

He used to be a good interviewer about 20 years ago. Over time, when he guests are related to politics, he’s leaned right and mostly projected his opinions, made it more editorial.

    • September 30, 2015 at 11:14 am

And they’ll fall in love with the Pope all over again…

I find it interesting that the Vatican spokesman seems embarrassed about the whole thing, and doesn’t want to talk about it. Not sure the Vatican knew the whole story when the Pope accepted to see her. Not sure the Vatican understood that it was much more than a “case of conscience”. That Kim Davis was the symbol in America for HATE of the gays ?

      They screwed up big time.

      • September 30, 2015 at 11:30 am

Or she was invited by the Bishop, she was part of a group, and the Pope didn’t have any choice but to talk to her when she was presented to him ?

        I HOPE it’s something like that. I mean…

The Pope was obviously not interested in feeding the controversy. He has said multiple times that catholics should not make it all about abortion and gay marriage. He came to the USA to talk about poverty, and climate change.

So either the Pope was played by the Bishops, or he totally miscalculated and didn’t know how big a symbol Kim Davis has become.

Uggh x2! Seems to be too much “shading” going on:

“The Pope also quietly met with the Little Sisters of the Poor, the order of nuns suing over Obamacare’s contraceptive mandate, during his U.S. visit, signaling support for their continued resistance.”

      • September 30, 2015 at 11:19 am

“signaling support for their continued resistance.””

The spinning of the Pope’s meetings is hilarious, he’d probably meet the devil if asked, doesn’t mean he’d approve his message 🙂

Apparently, pope did meet with that kentucky rwnj secretly. Wonder it’s the entrenched vatican clergy’d tactic to bring him down a notch or two before the eyes of the liberals.

he meets with all kinds of people with all sorts of different backgrounds. because “the news” turned her into a 15-minute celebrity to try and gin up republican polls, she probably has some connected people helping her get to someone such as the pope, and they’ll use that now to try and keep her in “the news” as long as possible.

      • September 30, 2015 at 11:23 am

“he probably has some connected people helping her get to someone such as the pope,”

That’s my hunch on this, it was arranged by church conservatives (American and/or Vatican) to make it seem like she has Papal ‘approval’, I seriously doubt he asked for this meeting himself.

With all the ‘publicity’, I am sure he or at least the vatican minions were aware of her and what she stands for. Some one dropped the ball big time, may even the big guy.

Not to Equal, but excelling is my late Dad’s Motto.
They should all be aiming to do better.
What I sincerely have issues with are using the Verbiage: Naive.
Stating that Pres Obama didn’t do much on that or this.
Belittling the efforts by Pres Obama with a wall of Nos by the GOP and a News Media that decided long time ago to abandon their Constitutional Obligations…….to Truth, Accuracy, Science, Data, Holding All Accountable…..especially, the Obstructionists, etc, etc, etc.

  37. September 30, 2015 at 12:02 pm

REPUBLICANS aren’t big fans of Karl Marx, but perhaps they should ponder his observation that history repeats itself first as tragedy, then as farce. As preposterous presidential candidates dominate the polls and extremists topple congressional leaders, the Republican Party is headed for a replay of the catastrophic Goldwater revolt of the early 1960s. It may be an entertaining spectacle, but it’s dangerous.

    ************************

    Good Read…

the only difference is that districts are now gerrymandered…it will be a heavy lift to unseat the GOP in the house…
the GOP has rode the back of the extremists to victory…the DEMS have sat on their hands and not voted…even now the DNC allows the GOP to fill the void with noise with no come back ….even now the DNC chooses not to ride the crest of the wave created by the superlative accomplishments of the President…

so as we watch the disarray of the GOP….the DEMS seem to want to repeat the failures of 2010/2014
