Acting like an important member of the current team.
        And a future POTUS.

SO, our Peace Trio+ FLOTUS are still in NYC. I hope they all take a long weekend after the breakneck pace they’ve been operating at.

Joe Biden has an experience NO one can match. He knows world leaders, knows the issues and can discuss complex international concerns with anyone on the planet. He also has credibility and gravitas. I really feel as if our very future as a nation depends on Biden’s decision.

Those so few days when the President gets to sleep in must be such a delight for him. Don’t know how he keeps going at the pace he does.

Macarthur grants – so pleased to see intelligence and scientific endeavor being rewarded – and they come with funding to allow the research to continue.

Wonder if the media will recognize these people or continue to prefer dumbing down society

    Congratulations to Coates.

It’s fair to say that both Ta-Nehisi Coates and Lin-Manuel Miranda were already having a pretty impressive 2015. Coates, a journalist lauded for his insights into race, politics and culture, launched his memoir, “Between the World and Me,” straight to the bestseller lists. Miranda, already a Tony-winning composer, wrote and stars in the season’s hottest ticket on Broadway, the genre-crossing musical “Hamilton.”

Their year just got better. Coates and Miranda are among the 24 people awarded MacArthur Foundation fellowships on Tuesday. The so-called genius grants are an annual vote of confidence given to some of America’s best and brightest scientists, writers, artists, academics and entrepreneurs. And the big check that comes with the fellowship doesn’t hurt, either…

“I take it as a mandate to, excuse my French, go out and kick [butt],” Coates said. “I’m supposed to go out and do something beautiful, something remarkable and great. That’s the meaning of the award, for me. They say, ‘We expect big things from you.’ I expect the same from myself.”…

He is working on his next book but declined to share any details.

“For writers, the hardest thing in the world is space and time to write,” he said. “Hopefully, [the grant] will give me that.”…

      Repeating myself from previous thread:
Ta-Nehisi’s book is #1 on the NY Times bestseller list this week.
Making it the 9th week “Between The World and Me” has been either #1 or #2.
Extraordinary reception for this wonderful work.

morning all! I am going to a hospital class shortly due to an upcoming surgery a week from tomorrow. I am having a hip replacement followed by a knee replacement next spring. Not sure if the results of the hip replacement will be typical since the bad knee is on the same side. Getting nervous. Can use your positive thoughts and prayers for the October 7th surgery.

      September 29, 2015 at 11:19 am

We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. My husband had both hips replaced within 6 months. He couldn’t recoup from the first one because his other hip was so bad. It’s been 2 years now and he is doing great. It will be tough for you but in the long run you will be in great shape. I will add you to my special TOD mediation.

Morning, OG. Will definitely add you to the list of those I remember with positive thoughts and prayerful vibes as you prepare for your surgery next week. Good luck – may your surgeons, nurses and other caregivers have loving and sure hands throughout the entire process.

Today the medical technology has vastly improved and hip & knee replacements are being routinely in my part of the ocean with a great success rate. All the best wishes for you for the same successful result.
