Trump is the personification of the racist backlash the election and reelection of the nation’s first Black president has unleashed. Trump is the result of the many years of the media attempting to mainstream the racist hate emanating from the GOP and its base regarding the Obama presidency. His outrageously hateful and dangerous statements would be unthinkable by a presidential candidate (not named David Duke), but the steady rise in hateful rhetoric from the right made Trump an inevitability. The steady diet of racist red meat made the base hungrier for redder and redder “meat”. Trump is a nightmare for the GOP in that he is exposing the hate that has existed within the GOP toward non-white males since its modern incarnation. To win on a presidential level, the GOP has to trick a certain percentage of Black, Brown and Muslim folks as well as women into voting Republican and Trump is making that increasingly difficult. This is bad news for the GOP because its “base” is not big enough to elect a president by itself. This is why after the primaries, GOP presidential candidates run to the center to broaden its appeal beyond the base (remember Mitt lying his ass off to distance himself from the insanity he was forced to spout during the primaries?). The media presents everything through a GOP-centric lens which leads to the impression the country loves Trump when in reality his support is among a loud and hateful minority.
The media thinks it is quite normal to have a different set of values during the primaries as to during the main election campaign – as long as you are a republican. If a democrat changes a position – bad very bad.
And then are prepared to switch back to your true (primary) colors after you are elected, when all of the stuff you spouted in the general will go up in smoke.

for each insult I hear about PBO and other people the clown candidate insult, it will be an indication to encourage more people around me to get their citizenship and register to vote;
During the activities to get people registered for ObamaCare, I have met a lot of people who fit this classification and know their networks so it will be a pleasure to “kill two birds with one stone”;
living in the ultimate swing state that also has a senate race, these new voters will come in as vital – the secret weapon for democracy

If he walked away and enjoyed the remainder of his life with his family, I could live with that.

Good morning, friends. I’ll be leaving mid-morning for the almost three-hour trip to my brother’s who happens to have moved back “home” to our family farm in a little community in northeast TN. Tonight and tomorrow night is my 50th class reunion!!!!!! I am only doing the tonight event. Participate in a ‘little’ parade through the village, hot dog picnic, then all attend the homecoming football game.
Won’t do the dinner/program tomorrow night. As much as anything, I am looking forward to spending time with my brother and his new wife. My brother had a 46-year marriage “from hell” and that’s not an exaggeration. His new wife is the widow of his BEST friend from childhood. He has been dead almost 11 years. Seeing the two of them together is like watching two 20 year olds, newly married. Am SO happy for them. 🙂 🙂
