Alice…i am soo discouraged..by The Dems…but i suppose it has really always been this way,,The President has been the hopeful light for our country…i wonder what his role will be in the 2016 presidential campaign..

Pf, President Obama has already told us what his role will be in the 2016 presidential campaign. He said he would do EVERYTHING in his power to elect a Democratic president. If that person is Clinton, Sanders, O’Malley, Webb, Chafee, or, preferably, Joe Biden, he will raise enormous sums, stump, rally the ground troops and call in all the very considerable political capital he has in every state. And you can be sure FLOTUS will be right beside him. PBO is not going to risk his legacy and the destruction of his achievements on one of the Barbarians running on the Republican side. He loves his country too much to see it slide into disaster. He’s holding his fire right not because he wants to give Biden the space to jump in. But once a nominee is assured, you can bet that PBO will pull out all the stops. And that’s my signal to jump in as well.

If Bernie wins people wont vote and will instead stay home so a republican can win the white house?

    • 14 jackiegrumbacher
      September 13, 2015 at 2:37 pm

Jeff, Bernie will not win the nomination–of that you can be sure If bernbots decide to stay home, then the rest of us will just have to work harder to recruit voters who will come out. A lot of Pumas decided to stay home in 2008 and 2012 and I remember hoping the door would hit them hard on the way out.

      • 15 Jeff
        September 13, 2015 at 2:38 pm

I hope you’re correct because I am worried more than ever about a republican winning the presidency.

          September 13, 2015 at 2:58 pm

Jeff, the answer to that is in our hands–literally. We pound the pavement to knock on doors, hit the phones until we get hoarse, contribute everything that we can and make sure we correct every lie and distortion that appears in the media. That’s how Dems get elected in this country and we know we can do it because we’ve already done it twice–in 2008 and 2012. When push comes to shove, I don’t need to be “inspired” to work for a Dem presidential candidate–I will be working from fear, which is a pretty good motivator.

The global markets will not allow a Republican win. The US has to remain stable and if a GOPer wins, the US will descend into chaos.

I’ll vote for any Democratic Presidential candidate just to ensure that a Republican doesn’t get into the White House. Given how the Republicans hate minorities, women, immigrants, etc., I have a personal stake in the next Presidential election.

If Hillary wins, I’ll support her and if it’s Joe Biden I will do it with my whole heart. But I’m not going to stand around while somebody tells me that the charlatan Trump is “authentic” or that Sanders is more real than Hillary. But are both BS artists in their own sphere.

      • September 13, 2015 at 2:34 pm

Joe Biden can show that idiot Trump the real meaning of authenticity any day of the week. Give me a break.
        Hillary seems to need handrails.
Right now, I’m just fed up with all of it.

        • 38 jackiegrumbacher
          September 13, 2015 at 2:43 pm

Meta, now is really a good time to get fed up because it’s many months before we cast a presidential primary vote and we will be worn to frazzles by then if we don’t pace ourselves. There are important local and state elections in 2015 and that’s where I’m putting my energies in the immediate future. I am not a fan of Hillary Clinton’s, but Hillary holding on to handrails, walking with a cane or supporting herself on crutches is about one million times better for all of us than any one of the demented, hate-filled bozos on the Republican side.

Anyone who attacks Joe Biden for his grief has announced him/herself as sub human. Every single person in the US has known grief from the death of someone they love–a family member, a friend, someone they looked up to. Mocking a man whose heart has been broken is a sure way to create support for Biden and alienate yourself from the rest of mankind.

      • September 13, 2015 at 3:42 pm

This paragraph sums up the challenge pretty well. I believe he can do it if he so chooses:

“He wears his heart on his sleeve and his rosary around his wrist. His story is well known. The politics of personal tragedy have pulled Joe Biden out of the shadows in the late autumn of his career and into the glare of a potential contest with Hillary Clinton who appears to be the direct opposite of the Vice President: stage managed, rehearsed, mechanical, accomplished but always cautious, somewhat duplicitous, often secretive and entitled.”

          September 13, 2015 at 3:59 pm

Meta, I love the good things this article says about Biden, but I’m getting uncomfortable with the constant Hillary bashing by the media. We have absolute buffoons, idiots and flagrant bigots running on the Republican side and the media decides that daily dumping on Hillary is the way to go. Meanwhile the most outrageous lies, hatred, stupidity, and economy and climate destroying proposals issue daily from Republican candidates and go unchallenged by so-called journalists and pundits.

First, he decided that drafting Dr. Cornell West as his most prominent black surrogate would somehow be a good idea, which would have worked if Sanders had a flux capacitor and a DeLorean set to 2007. Here in the present, Cornell West is about as appealing to black voters as a Rand Paul lecture on black party identification. West has been among the most unhinged of Obama critics.

Some people may not want to hear this, but Hillary is going to have a hard winning the general election in 2016. There is a segment of the country that simply don’t like her and don’t trust her. Her high negativity is a problem, and a losing number for a candidate of her caliber. I was one of the few people that predicted way back in 2011-2012 that Hillary is going to run for President in 2016, but that eventually she will self-destruct. She is a terrible candidate PERIOD. Democrats better pray that Joe Biden decides to run, otherwise Hillary will end up winning the nomination only to have a difficult time against the republican nominee. I’m not saying she will lose, but don’t be surprise if election night turns into another 2000 or 2004.

The polls that have Bernie beating in Iowa and New Hampshire are spot on. The guy is leading her in the polls right now mostly on the basis of people not feeling Hillary and not trusting anything she says. It doesn’t help that she screwed up regarding the email situation. She should be grateful that blacks and hispanic democratic voters are not feeling Bernie Sanders, otherwise we will be looking at the democratic primary basically over before Super Tuesday.

Ironically right now, it’s the black voters in South Carolina that are likely to save her candidacy, thus preventing history from repeating itself.

    • 75 pkayden
      September 13, 2015 at 5:15 pm

So would that segment of the country prefer to put a nutty, racist, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic bigoted Republican in the White House where he can stack the Supreme Court with his Rightwing Justices who can undo the progress that President Obama worked so hard to achieve?

Unfortunately, we only have two major parties in the U.S. So if we sit at home and don’t vote for Secretary Clinton, we’re turning the White House over to the horror which is the Republican Party. George Bush should be the last Republican President in our lifetime after what he did to this country (and the world).

I really hope that people put aside their feelings about Secretary Clinton and vote for her and consider the harm that will be done to people of color, LGBT, immigrants, women, etc., if Republicans get in the White House again. We have to be sensible about this and not get personal about our feelings in regard to Mrs. Clinton. She will be a much better President than any of the Clown Car Occupants.

    • September 13, 2015 at 5:19 pm

I never believed she was not going to run. All that nonsense about not knowing was just for press attention. She’s been preparing for this all her adult life.

    Who Deserves a Nobel Prize?

The Nobel Prizes were created by Alfred Nobel for promoting outstanding achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and for work in peace. In his will, he dictated that most of his fortune should be used for prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind. Who do you think has made an important benefit to mankind?

USA in 239 years has never had a Coup.
The Civil War that took place in the Mid 1800s was Not a Coup. It was Treasonous Secessionists wanting a continuation of Slavery.
The Military in USA is under the POTUS.
With 3 CO-Equal Branches of Gov’t, Coup d’etat is impossible. The GOPers since Nov 4th, 2008 have been trying a form of political Coup d’etat with the support of the US Media and they have failed miserably.

Aloha, Nena. BS wanted President Obama primaried in 2012. It was pure lies and demagoguery on BS’s part.. shocking!

“SANDERS: Brian, believe me, I wish I had the answer to your question. Let me just suggest this. I think there are millions of Americans who are deeply disappointed in the president; who believe that, with regard to Social Security and a number of other issues, he said one thing as a candidate and is doing something very much else as a president; who cannot believe how weak he has been, for whatever reason, in negotiating with Republicans and there’s deep disappointment. So my suggestion is, I think one of the reasons the president has been able to move so far to the right is that there is no primary opposition to him and I think it would do this country a good deal of service if people started thinking about candidates out there to begin contrasting what is a progressive agenda as opposed to what Obama is doing. […] So I would say to Ryan [sic] discouragement is not an option. I think it would be a good idea if President Obama faced some primary opposition.”
