    Way to enter, Bill!

Chips, are you sure PBO wasn’t photo-shopped into a Bernie crowd?

Which is a definitive indication that his decision was NOT about his constituents in MD – it was about his allegiance to AIPAC or some similar lobbying agent….

How come I’m only just learning that HRC has two younger brothers? I have never seen or heard of them before flunking the question in the Hillary quiz I completed a few mins ago. Learned some interesting little tidbits too. Of course I failed miserably. :/

    • September 8, 2015 at 9:35 am

One of them was married to Barbara Boxer’s daughter and he’s been a bit of a scoundrel. He’s always been involved in weird fundraising schemes, some odd involvements with foreign governments and some run-ins with the law. I think he was also a deadbeat dad after divorce from Boxer’s daughter. Hillary & Bill were always trying to give him jobs and he kept finding trouble.

The other brother was involved in FL politics for awhile, ran for the Senate but lost badly, even though both Bill & Hillary campaigned for him.

I think both brothers were involved in some kind of controversy over Bill Clinton’s pardons at the end of his term. Weird stuff.

A very ‘Good Morning’ to you, Meta!

No wonder they are rarely seen/heard of. I was surprised by the answer in the quiz as I had assumed she was an only child. She speaks about her mother (never a father or brothers) and I had never seen either mentioned in relation to her campaigning. There just seems to have been her, Chelsea and Bill, and her mother when she was alive. Of course, if they are deadbeats I can understand her reluctance to draw attention to them.

        • September 8, 2015 at 9:57 am

Yeah, I think you’re right. That is why we never hear about them!

Did you see her interview with Mitchell? I stumbled upon it after someone shared a Rachel Maddow segment and I was struck by the tone of it, in contrast to interviews with PBO. Mitchell asked some persistent questions about emails-gate but never once did I get the sense she was being snarky or negative….and she gave HRC space to answer. I thought to myself, why don’t you guys interview our president in the same manner? I raised my eyebrows a couple of times when HRC made sure to point out *her* involvement in laying the seeds for the IranDeal. I have to admit that because she always brings out the skepticism in me, I was muttering ‘why weren’t you highlighting this earlier in the process?’

            • September 8, 2015 at 10:44 am

I don’t watch her stuff. I’m just not that interested because I feel manipulated by everything both she and the media do and say. So much calculation goes into HRC’s every move. I’m sure her speech on Iran this week will be full of “I”. It angers me that this puts our Sec Kerry in an awkward position because what can he say after her attempts to take a lot of credit when it’s clear that it is he who sat at the table for days on end, hour after hour.

This may not be true but I read yesterday that HRC refuses to apologize for the email snafu and says it hasn’t changed her campaign at all. That sounds like a lie on the face of it.

I don’t normally watch Maddow, Mitchell nor Hillary, but I have this bad habit of exploring the clips at the end of videos that are suggested for viewing here. Sometimes I ‘discover’ some fun or informative bits of info. This was how I stumbled onto the HRC interview and decided to give Hillary a bit of objective viewing – was experimenting to see if I could watch her spiel like I’d never seen her in action before. She came across to me as composed, somewhat decent and looking well-rested. If I hadn’t known anything about her I’d be inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. What bothers me a lot about her is, as is often said here, that she and Bill repeatedly leave themselves open to scrutiny that could have been avoided. Should they make it back to the WH I can easily imagine the pattern continuing, and #wethepeople haven’t the time for these kind of avoidable distractions. For all their years of ‘experience’ you’d think they’d have begun to minimize these types of scenarios by now – too entitled to adjust, maybe?

I know what you mean about the suggested videos at the end!

Yeah, I don’t know. We’ll see how all this unfolds. If she’s our nominee, we are required to vote for her. But I will not look forward to either of them back in the WH.

Nessun Dorma ( No One Sleeps) by Pavarotti Totally wonderful……. my favorite ( I went to a concert in Portland, Oregon where he performed. What a pleasure!)

One of my favorites as well, Bill. Was able to be present for a couple of his performances in Manhattan. Among the most memorable, moving music experiences of my life!!

O this was the only opera star I enjoyed listening to, in English of course. Thanks Bill, brings back memories. Luciano actually got me listening to the three tenors and enjoying it – when they used to be on PBS. Great memories! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

When I was a sophomore exchange college student in Pavia, Italy, one of the professors who was involved with our program was Prof. Lido Botti. He had two young children, a boy and a girl, who were with him along with his wife. The boy was a little guy, kindergarten or first grade age and was fluent in Italian. His name was Chris. He went on to have a stunning career playing the trumpet as you may well know Chris Botti’s world renowned work. Here’s a recording of him accompanying a beautiful and talented vocalist who sings “The Look of Love.”

    Thank you, Bill.
I am having a difficult time sleeping and came here to do some more catch up and wandered into a musical explosion.
    This was fantastic!
The band and singer were absolutely powerful.
    (who are they?)
    Botti is great!

This is from a 2009 concert in Boston, uploaded 2 yrs ago. The YouTube description of the video says the singer is Sy Smith. Another version of this performance on YouTube shows Chris introducing her as cousin of the guitarist, Mark Whitfield.

Republicans lie so calmly even when confronted with facts that they are scary. They simply write their own story and stick with it without any shame or sense of remorse – like psychopaths I guess.
