    Re: Constructive actions on #ClimateChange

    People can say whatever they want (per 1st Amendment), but allowing what is effectively threatening to kill massive numbers of people to be spewed over public spectrum should not be allowed – and, that’s precisely what #ClimateChange deniers/propagandists are currently being enabled to do.

    They are literally threatening to destroy not only millions of people, but the entire biosphere.

    Thus, 2 of the most constructive actions I can propose to POTUS and CSPAN ….

    Yes We Can

    I don’t know if the Dems (especially those in the leadership positions) who are opposing the #IranDeal have really pondered the fact that their reasoning is in line with scumbags like trump, cruz, and glen beck (the trio hatemongers who are planning to lead a NO Iran Deal rally)

    September Is Here! Time for Republicans to Get … Um … Something About Donald Trump.

    —By Kevin Drum

    | Tue Sep. 1, 2015 12:23 PM EDT

    It’s September! Hooray! The kids are back in school and Donald Trump’s reign over the silly season will soon be coming to an end. Finally, we can start to get serious about choosing our next presi—

    Wait. WTF? Trumpmentum’s sagging fortunes have turned around? He’s now even further in the lead? Well crap.

    The Republican field really needs to get its act together. They can’t go on being afraid of him because he’s “tapping into something real,” or whatever the latest excuse is. It’s time for some nuclear-level attack ads. The problem, I assume, is that everybody in the race wants someone else to waste their money attacking Trump, so they’re all left in a weird kind of prisoner’s dilemma where no one is willing to go first. They better figure out soon that this is a losing strategy.

    This is the title/summary I liked the best….

    ‘How the Iran Nuclear Deal Weakened AIPAC, Washington’s Most Powerful Interest Group’.

    IMO no group should be so arrogant, and powerful, that it can force elected officials to vote in its favour against what is best for the nation as a whole. This may have been an unintended consequence of his actions but I’m happy a principled and prescient PBO has managed to shake AIPAC’s stranglehold on Congress. They and their leader, Bibi, have just been too full of themselves over the last few years.

    NerdyW, thanks for bringing these particular tweets together at the end of the day.

      VC, not only were they full of themselves, they underestimated their opponent. Our President anticipated their every move and checkmated them at every turn. AIPAC and Bibi didn’t even have enough sense to know how much they were risking. Now they have sunk tens of millions in a losing proposition and have shattered the myth that they’re an all-powerful lobbying group. I hope Dick Schumer feels like the damned fool he is.

        September 1, 2015 at 9:57 pm

        Yeah for shattered myths, JackieG, and for a leader who has superior leadership skills, an excellent knowledge of where he wants to go, and the character and persistence to keep moving forward through the noise of incompetence perpetuated by his many naysayers!!! 🙂

          hope the elected officials can take advantage of this and get rid of their fear of AIPAC;

          working with J-Street is more relevant to the times we live in => given all the changes taking place in the Middle East

    Well, I look at the list of undeclared (I won’t say undecided because if they haven’t decided by now they don’t deserve to be Senators to begin with) and I see another 6 yes votes at least coming out of the group and another 2 probably yeses. That would make 41. I think the noes are waiting for the declared yeses to reach 41.

    • September 1, 2015 at 9:50 pm

      Agree, John. What is going to be most interesting is to watch if scumbag Schumer is craven enough to change his vote in order to remain a contender for Senate Dem Leader. At this point, I think his chance of rising to that position in Jan 2017 is close to zero, and if (when) VP Biden becomes President, it’s definitely zero.

        don’t hold your breath about Schumer – he has the same entitlement mentality that most of us despise;

        he will still delude himself that he can get away with his NO vote and then other Dems will “run” to his side to support him as a leader

    “Statement by the Press Secretary on Alaska expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act

    Governor Walker made the right decision to expand Medicaid to tens of thousands of Alaska residents, including Alaska Natives, beginning today. Alaska is the 29th state in addition to the District of Columbia to implement this option and prioritize the health of the state’s citizens over narrow political interests. Hospitals and businesses throughout Alaska will save on uncompensated care costs, and hardworking families will gain the peace of mind that comes with health security. Today’s news is an important step in ensuring that all Americans have access to quality, affordable health insurance, and we’ll continue to work with the 21 states that have not yet taken advantage of Federal funds to expand Medicaid eligibility to over 4 million Americans who needlessly remain uninsured.”

    This will work; the data as to why is abundant:

    We need to change the ownership and stewardship of our information and power infrastructure, particularly if we want a way more effective means of averting further degradation of the biosphere.

    You know, it’s almost as though President Obama knows RWNJs might understand better if he does a little “show and tell” about every issue. Like go to Alaska and “point” out to them what’s disappearing due to climate change. Their little pea brains might get it. Anyway, he never stops trying, does he?
