Good grief, df. Is there a form of mental illness required to run as a Republican Congressman? This Salmon guy was so far out of line, the parents should sue him for causing their children emotional distress.

I wish they would!! In this state, how crazy you are, no matter how far gone your ideas…if there’s an “R” behind yours name, you must be fine! This guy is batshit crazy…along with just about every other R rep in this state….and the state lege is filled to the brim with Teabaggers…. I am in the wrong place. Truly.

Just FYI, there is not a peep about this in any online local news site…not a one. We have storm news, shooting news, and mom drowning her kids in the tub news, but nothing about the US Rep that visited an elementary school to talk about how a bill becomes law and ends up talking about suicide bombers and death….wonder how much he paid them to bury that story? Should have shown the Schoolhouse Rock version and called it good. At least they would have always remembered it and not been terrified in the process. All they have is fear. Even when little kids are involved. Shameful.

What? Calif didn’t get any rain. Wawawa not fair 😦 😦

Good morning TOD family. Everyone have a wonderful day.

Parents would’nt allow their kids to hear a message on first day of school but congress men can frighten young kids about the Iran Deal. I think kids from that school visited the WH garden once the name sounds familiar. I am glad the parents spoke up.

Hhahaaa! Good morning, GGail, Chips and TODers.

      Yes, it goes like this:

      1:00 Pacific
      4:00 Easter

3:50 AKT: Participates in a boat tour of Kenai Fjords National Park; Seward, Alaska
      4:50 Pacific
      7:50 Eastern

I don’t see any lifestream info up so we’ll probably have to rely on local media.

Morning all. Our local weather has returned to the worst of the hot, humid days typical of August. I pity the school children who have to go back to all day classes on days like this. On the plus side, it looks as if our soon-to-be three years old granddaughter will be celebrating her birthday with us this Saturday. Fingers crossed that it all works out.

I’m so overwhelmed by this trip, all the good PBO is trying to do for our planet and for native people. The conference is really terrific and the terrain is incredibly majestic. I’ve only ever gotten as far as the Canadian Rockies and Mt. Assiniboine and was bowled over by the beauty there. I know POTUS will be so thrilled. Really looking forward to Pete’s photos as he journeys along with PBO.

This is a historic and emotionally significant trip. And it’s a trip that will produce real and POSITIVE results for all parties involved. No wonder the corporate media is blacking it out (MSNBC I’m’ looking at you).

Yesterday while our President was delivering important remarks on climate change at the GLACIER conference, MSNBC found it necessary to not air his speech live and instead run useless recycled PPP polls on Republicans’ racist beliefs. And that was after they falsely claimed that no one in Alaska wanted PBO there….

INot sure if this has been posted before, but Charles Pierce expresses a lot of our collective frustration over DWS’ chairmanship of the DNC and wonders why she hasn’t been fired. I had no idea that Jennifer Granholm was a potential replacement. Has anyone else heard about this?

      Um..supposed to read “Not sure..”

    • September 1, 2015 at 9:47 am

I haven’t heard Granholm’s name floated before I read that piece. But she’s very close to HRC so that makes sense.

The move to get rid of DWS is now a petition at the WH. I don’t think it’s actionable because I don’t see POTUS removing her when it will look like retaliation. But perhaps it will send a message far and wide. DWS is tone-deaf to this so she needs to be pressured unrelentingly. The petition currently has 6,484 signatures. 100,000 are needed.

Here’s the wording. Note that it was submitted before it was known that she refused a DNC vote on the Iran Deal.

Remove Debbie Wasserman-Schulz, effective IMMEDIATELY, as chairwoman of the DNC, Democratic National Committee
We are asking President Obama, as the current leader of the Democratic Party, to please remove Debbie Wasserman-Schulz as chairperson of the DNC, Democratic National Committee, due to her very apparent bias as former 2008 presidential campaign manager for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Ms. Wasserman-Schulz has scheduled only 6 debates between Democratic Party 2016 presidential candidates, scheduled AFTER some states such as New York have already closed their voter registration process. In 2008, the DNC allowed over 20 debates between Democratic presidential candidates, including YOU, Mr. President, which actually helped you win the Democratic Party nomination for President. This is an obvious attempt by Ms. Wasserman-Schulz and her close friend, Hillary Clinton, to unfairly treat other candidates

I was about to post that one jackie, Pierce has it right as usual – it is insane that the GOP has taken over the airwaves. Mr 99 is thinking Trump will be the next President because it is all we are reading. We hear nothing about the democrats other than a note that one of our ex PMs made a fool of himself in relation to a Clinton email.

Maybe the lack of fundraising will get rid of DWS – democrats don’t seem to care that their senior folks don’t support the President.

    • September 1, 2015 at 10:52 am

I’m not ready for JG as DNC chair. I like her, but she’s in Hillary’s camp right now and I don’t think she could refrain from being bias.

If Trump builds his wall & Mexico refuses to pay for it – will he declare the US bankrupt?

      • 73 0388jojothecat
        September 1, 2015 at 9:57 am

will he declare war on Mexico? why would Mexico pay for a USA wall anyway because it has to be on US side. I can’t see the UN not saying something about this….just goes to show you that there are really GOP voters that would prefer to elect someone who has NO idea what they are doing than someone who is supposed to know the constitution and how our government works. If Trump or Carson get elected they have to take a crash course in government and history or hire people who will tell them what to do even if it’s wrong….like it’s ok to torture people.

I keep hearing from VPOTUS but…he isn’t saying what I want to hear, like, I’m running. It made me angry to hear HRC say she has a political machine and a ground game that will last way after she’s out of office. Really! It took some time for OFA to formulate a solid 50 state ground game. It didn’t happen before the first primary. And if I remember correctly, POTUS didn’t have 20 super delegates before Iowa. Sorry for the rant, I just feel like my vote is being locked in a box I don’t want it to be locked into.

      • September 1, 2015 at 11:40 am

She said that? Well, that’s funny because it’s really PBO’s machine and ground game that she’s emulating. If she didn’t have that along with so many of PBO’s staff, I don’t doubt she’d be running her same old playbook from 2008.

      • September 1, 2015 at 12:43 pm

Hillary just thinks she lost last time cuz he had a better ground game so getting PBO’s people to be in charge and playing the same game in her eyes makes her the winner this time. She seems to ignore the better person winning meme.

Scott Walker Campaign Says He’s Not Advocating For A Border Wall With Canada
He just said it was “a legitimate issue” to consider.

After critics mocked Republican presidential candidate and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for saying a wall between the U.S. and Canada was a “legitimate” idea, his campaign said Monday that he is not pushing for such a policy.

“Despite the attempts of some to put words in his mouth, Gov. Walker wasn’t advocating for a wall along our northern border,” Walker spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in a statement.

The controversy followed the typical politician walk-back formula: a quick uproar over his comments to a reporter — in this case, made Sunday during NBC’s “Meet the Press” — followed by parsing of his words and, eventually, a clarification.

Depending on how you parse those comments — and much of politics depends on this — the Walker campaign is right: He wasn’t advocating for a border wall between the U.S. and Canada. He didn’t bring up the idea at all. “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd pressed Walker on northern border security, asking why it’s discussed so little when candidates like Walker speak so frequently talk about the risk of terrorists crossing into the U.S. from Mexico.

“Do you want to build a wall north of the border, too?” Todd asked.

“Some people have asked us about that in New Hampshire,” Walker replied. “They raised some very legitimate concerns, including some law enforcement folks that brought that up to me at one of our town hall meetings about a week and a half ago. So that is a legitimate issue for us to look at.”

In other words, Walker wasn’t out there demanding a wall be built between the U.S. and Canada — he just said the equivalent of “maybe” when asked about it.
