You Become President To Do Something; Not Be Something

Ashley Alman: A Boy Who Asked Obama About Stem Cell Research In 2007 Writes To Say It Saved His Life

A young cancer survivor sent President Barack Obama a moving letter thanking him for keeping a promise made during a 2007 campaign stop — a promise the boy says saved his life. Gavin Nore, a teen from Fort Dodge, Iowa, told Obama in a letter shared by the White House Tuesday that he’d had the opportunity to meet the president during his first presidential campaign.

At the time, Nore asked Obama whether he’d continue stem cell research during his presidency, to which the president responded he would. In February 2013, Nore was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. He was 14 years old. Nore said he was “cancer free” by that summer, but was later re-diagnosed. “I had to have a stem cell transplant. I beat the battle once again,” Nore wrote to the president. “I would like to thank you very much for continuing the research. If the research haden’t [sic] continued, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Ok, Don…. I got back home and spent a few hours scouring the web….here is what I need to know:

Do you want a curved or flat (ideal if you are going to mount it on a wall) screen?

Do you want your *Smart* processor to have a good web browser, Android TV, the base software that is built in by the individual T.V. manufacturer (my Phillips has “wireless connect…which allows you to “mirror, project” whatever is on your laptop to the television akin to Apple T.V. & Sony has built-in Playstation streaming…both constantly update their *Smart* hub with new apps [Pandora, Netlfix, Hulu etc.) ….or do you want all of the above?

      Do you want a 60, 120, or 240 Motion rate? I suggest a minimum 120 Hz.

Do you want your set to have UHD upscaling for all your DVD’s, media, pics, etc to (3840 x 2160 resolution) with UHD dimming optional?

What kind of budget are you looking at? Based on that I have identified which models are the best from 50, 55, 60, 65, & a few somewhat affordable 70″ screens.

Figure out what amenities you want b/c I have some already identified the best in each category….try to figure out ASAP because some are on 24hr. sales!

This, all of THIS. My main beef with both Clintons, McAngry, and Rmoney was that the presidency was a vanity issue for them; something that they felt was owed to them or something that is the crown-jewel in lives lived only for themselves and the advancement of their friends (or in the case of the Clintons, the wealthy and influential friends that they wanted to have).i PBO was/is at heart a community organizer who realized that he had to take it up another level if he wanted to bring about the systemic and long lasting change that would transform a country and indivduals lives. He let us know that it was not about him, but about all of us and that we had a role to play in working out our own destinies. He had the self-confidence to truly listen to all voices (one of the reasons foreign leaders respect him so much) and to incorporate what worked. I know he always says that we are the ones that we were looking for, but each group needs a leader. How blessed we were when he come on the scene.

RNC’s chairperson is not appointed, but rather an election takes place and the members of the GOP apparatus consisting of 220 plus elects their chair for 2yrs. Though, a POTUS, GOP one has a say.
DNC chair is appointed by the President when a Dem is POTUS. There was no reason to allow D-WS to remain. Tim Kaine did a lousy job and D-WS is doing an atrocious job. Today, Dems have nearly $20M in debt. They have lost 83 of 95 state and county entities since her appointment.

I hate when people reference “Hitler” or “Nazi” to everything they don’t like but this is exactly what Hitler did to the Jews, he tattooed numbers on them. My landlord in L.A. survived the Nazi concentration camps and he still had that tattoo on his arm to the day he died. If we really had a independent media, Chrispy Crème would be drummed out of politics.

I missed it…..in fact I’ve been missing everything this past week! I’ve only seen half of today’s R&S & I’m slugging my way through this post…will eventually get to the next one. I’ve been so busy all week and then last night I had the most excruciating tooth/gum pain I’ve ever experienced in my life! I almost went to the hospital….I couldn’t fall asleep it was so painful…..have been up for 40 hours straight now. I went to a walk -in dentist today and had to sit there for ~7 hours to get some pain medicine and found out I have an infection in my gums from when I got fillings a few months ago and have to get a root canal Monday 😦

The freaking medicine made me sick and I puked the little food I got down today…so on top of being in miserable pain…my stomach is empty & and it hurts too much to try to eat….I’ve tried passing out 8x….it is not working!!!!!

Saddened to learn of the shooting of a Harris County Sheriff Deputy (Houston) as he was filling his car at a gas station.

I must say, however, that some of the rhetoric from some of the law enforcement members are premature and are really inflammatory.

    it seems from the initial reports that the Deputy Sheriff was shot by “someone of a dark complexion” in what appears to be an ambush;

what is bothering me is two things :

    (a) the way the representatives of the Sheriff department are publicly stating that “the silent majority must stand up and ….. say enough of #BlackLivesMatter …. time to say Cops Lives Matter”; At the same time as they are saying this, the law enforcement officers says that they don’t have a suspect or a motive . If that is the case then why condemn a movement that has not yet been in any way associated by the murderer?

    (b) reading the article about the incident that in included in the Houston Chronicle, the authors seem to be repeating the same lines as the Sheriff’s department without any caveats. In fact I was surprised to read in that article that the police are justifiably worried about “a rash of racially-charged retaliatory shootings” of police officers. Now, I thought I am an average new consumer, how have I missed this “rash of racially-charged retaliatory shootings” of police officers?

Why are people who have power and media megaphones deliberately trying to inflame a tragic and totally despicable situation?

    • August 29, 2015 at 10:18 pm

I don’t like this one bit, Meta. I don’t want OFA sharing anything with the DNC until DWS is gone. For one she is hapless fool, second she still hasn’t come out for the #Irandeal, and finally the DNC/DWS just signed a deal with the Clinton campaign on a joint fundraising deal where HRC’s folks will control all the cash….her terms if they DNC her to do fundraisers with the next $200,000 max limits that SCOTUS ruled was allowed….those are just a few of the things that come to mind….I’ve wanted from Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybeck to be DNC head since 2011. DWS has no clue what she is doing, only cares about statewide office in FL, and I just don’t like her…..end of incoherent rant…..not sure why I’m so upset. I think it is because my teeth/gums are killing me 😦

    Oh, my.
I have been out for hours and now to come back to see that the list has been turned over to the DNC.
How can this be anything but not-so-good news?

Unless, of course, if VPOTUS has confirmed to the President privately that he will be announcing his candidacy and wants to make certain that there can be no “Playing favorites” charges that stick against PBO?

Let the news come out that everyone has access to The List.
    Then VPBiden announces. Perfect.

Wishful thinking on my part, right?

I also believe that Grumpy Cat will suspend his campaign and join the Vice President soon.

i’ve become very suspect of all this. feeling very similar to the scam called “occupy wall street,” which was pumped up by the owners of “the news” to torpedo president obama’s push for American Jobs Act. our president had just invested a ton of time and energy, and was doing a tour to get support for the AJA, which had many things any liberal would be happy about, and that’s when a goofy mess of protests takes over the airwaves?!? since when does “the news” cover liberal protest…oh i know…only when it can be used to “divide and conquer” liberals. this is exactly what happened with that, and the AJA slowly died on the vine.

oh look, “occupy” for started just a week later…go figure (sarcasm):

unfortunately, too many liberals fall into this same trap over and over. isn’t that exactly what’s happening now again with all this supposed BLM stuff? that interruption of the bernie sanders speech was ridiculous, and i’m not necessarily a big fan of bernie as our candidate. the way to tell for me is stuff like this from your link above:
“Black Lives Matter St. Paul is a separate group from Black Lives Matter Minneapolis, which supports the protest and has staged several demonstrations throughout the Twin Cities in the past year, including one at the Mall of America. While the Minneapolis group is an official chapter of the national Black Lives Matter movement, Turner said his group still has to apply to be recognized in the same way.”

what a mess! “divide and conquer” is one of the favorite tactics of republicans/”the news” to break up liberal voting blocs. president obama is such a genius that he was able get people to rise above this dangerous game and stay focused on the big picture. someone needs to do that again, or these political tricks by “the news” and republicans are going to make it hard for us to win more elections. eyes on the prize, people!

4morefor44 – when black people stop getting shot just for being black then I will debate what is appropriate behavior vs. not.

eyes on the prize? How about watching your child, spouse, or sibling leave home and not being worried sick about whether or not he/she will make it back home? Seems that is more important than the President’s ability to rise above games. The big picture is not getting shot/killed simply because of melanin content.

        August 29, 2015 at 9:27 pm

Frankly, 4morefor44 your comment is asinine.

Black people are being murdered in the country that claims all men are created equal and your concern is what’s appropriate or not appropriate behavior?

Do you know how it feels to watch your spouse, child, or other loved ones be murdered by the people who are sworn to protect them? Do you know what it feels like to shake in terror when the cops pull you over?

Your lack of concern and empathy for people suffering one of the worst injustices is appalling.
