Apparently, he ran for a Delegate Seat in VA. He said he knew both Senators Kaine and Warner. He said they tweeted out something, but none had called him and he knew them both. He said that now, he is going to get a gun for he knows that some might find his ‘Crusade’ for sensible gun control law objectionable. He challenged the News Media to challenge all as Dan Rather had asked in his Op-Ed piece.
He used ISIL on Live presser.
It looks like his daughter is going to be cremated.
I feel for him and his family.
Getting a gun of his own is not going to protect him or assuage his grief. He probably didn’t pay much attention to this issue until his own daughter was murdered, so he doesn’t know President Obama has done every single thing he could do WITHOUT Congress on this issue. I hope he will work with Everytown and Richard Martinez to pressure Congress to finally pass universal background checks. Until legislators get elected/re-elected BECAUSE they vote for gun sense, the NRA will continue to bully elected officials.
I have so much respect for the President when he opens up as he did here, revealing such an in-depth awareness of other peoples/nations! I have always loved the way PBO speaks about his opponents, although I know I could not emulate him. 😉
😀 😀 I won’t pretend I’m growing into a better person, though I will admit PBO has taught me a lot about how (not) to respond to the taunts of friends/frenemies.
Oh Thank you Chips! Was just about to work on my taxes and saw this post.
Noticed that PBO referred to the friendship between the Israeli people and the American people (ahemm… smoothly skipping over Bibi in that statement 🙂 )
Don’t think so, Don. Molly Cyrus is actually pretty liberal. She probably sent this out as a joke. It’s pretty creepy when you consider what this old man was saying to Molly, who is younger than his daughter, Ivanka.
she didn’t say she was proud. She simply said, in 2013 after the concert she was at one of Trump’s hotels and he called and told her he liked her twerking.
She is probably shaking her head thinking…and now the man running for POTUS.
I just watched the end of the webcast. I am always so impressed by the way the president puts himself “out there” in so many ways. It shows immense intelligence and confidence. What a man!
Bringing this over from last. Environmental contamination is a subject very near and dear to my heart; my health issues are directly linked to water contamination at Camp Lejeune.

Another one of those times when the post doesn’t update, even when I refresh, unless I post a comment? WordP, I just do not believe no one has commented since 3:18pm!
It’s petty now for he is at 1-2% in the polls.
O’Malley could have easily be where Sanders numbers are today or better had he announced his candidacy long time ago. What he did was to stick his fingers in the air to see how and where the winds were blowing.
A Party makes it’s own rule. He knew that. Crying over a done deal is petty.
Good for Martin. DWS is a lousy DNC chairman and should have stepped down or been asked to leave a long time ago. She is the wrong person to have in place in a presidential election year.
I agree, I think DWS is more interested in sucking up to the Clinton machine that promoting anything productive or worthwhile. DWS has put the democratic party on the back burner imo, in order to gain ‘favor’ with Hill.
I don’t care for her either. She takes money from the Private Prison Industry and refused to help stop a prison from going up in a residential neighborhood
There was a story circulating that she threatened to scream anti-Semitism if PBO got rid of her. The fact that she failed spectacularly in 2014, and didn’t support PBO enough in 2012 should have shamed her enough to give the job to someone who gets it. I have come to loathe her. When I tweet her, I make sure she knows it’s coming from a 65 year old American Jewish Democrat.
He accused the DNC of rigging the debate schedule to make sure that Democratic voices weren’t heard.
Not only the small amount of debates prior to the Iowa and NH caucus and primary, Martin said that one of the debates was during the height of Holiday Shopping season deliberately so that nobody would watch it.
Martin O’Malley said that the GOP had All the attention now and that the DNC intends for that to continue.
Then Bernie said what we here at TOD have been saying. That Dems lost in 2014, not that the GOP won. WE LOST. We gave it away.
And if we continue the way we are going we will repeat the loses in 2016, not only the Senate and the House, but even more Governors and the WH. Bernie said that the enthusiasm he’s been generating is what we need. NOT that we need Him, necessarily. We need a campaign that inspires Democrats to participate.
—————————————
My 2 cents is that they are both right. All the bogus polls declaring the races competitive or whatever do not matter if Dems are put back to sleep by a candidate we don’t care about.
And the cherry on the top today was the Clinton Camp announcement that she’s already got the election delegates sewn up.
In 2007-2008 the Clinton operatives kept assuring themselves that they had it all “wired.” yeah, right.
Did not work then
Will not work now.
Announcing that you’ve got a large portion of delegates sewn up before one single primary vote has been cast is a very stupid tactic. I know they’re trying to blunt the onslaught of Biden stories but it’s a very amateur move. We will not be intimidated and we will not be silenced. Let the primaries happen. Let the people vote. And then let’s unify behind the winner. But it MUST be a democratic process where voters feel included and necessary to the final outcome not an elite coronation because we own her something for some reason. This will backfire.
I google that just to see if he looked uncomfortable there. What I noticed was at the end of his dance he turned one of the (cute?) flute players around to take a ‘selfie’ with her while she was still playing. Right beside her was someone in a wheelchair and tho he spoke to her briefly he didn’t ‘offer’ to take a selfie with her. *Our* president would have been more tactful, I think.
Haven’t seen our TOD sports reporter, so I’ll share this here. I saw it on the same news page when I googled Dubya, and I liked the tone of Bolt’s comments. {I don’t often pay attention top athletes – too much hype.}
Announcing the Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs
AUGUST 28, 2015 AT 3:13 PM ET BY LISA MONACO
Summary: President Obama appoints Jim O’Brien to serve as the first Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs.
On June 24, 2015, President Obama approved Presidential Policy Directive 30, U.S. Nationals Taken Hostage Abroad and Personnel Recovery Efforts, and signed an Executive Order on the recovery of U.S. hostages taken abroad. These steps directed key organizational changes to ensure that the U.S. Government is doing all it can to safely recover Americans taken hostage overseas and is responsive to the needs of their families. Among the changes the President announced was the need to enhance our focus on diplomatic efforts to ensure the safe return of American hostages to their families.
In signing the Executive Order, the President outlined our whole of government approach to hostage recovery and announced that a new Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs would engage at the highest levels of foreign governments to secure the safe return of U.S. hostages. Today, the President has appointed Jim O’Brien to serve as the first Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs. In this role, Mr. O’Brien will report to the Secretary of State. ……………..

Why does this “journalist” still have a place to spout from? Here’s How the Federal Government is Working with Local Communities to Create Change, in One Map:
AUGUST 26, 2015 AT 9:00 AM ET BY SHAUN DONOVAN
// …………………………………………..
This week marks ten years since the neighborhoods of New Orleans were left devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Since then, community partnerships with the federal government have helped revitalize those communities. They’ve made sure the city’s vital health clinic system stays funded and delivering high quality services. They’ve laid the groundwork to open the Loyola Avenue-Union Passenger Terminal Streetcar Line in the city’s business district. They’ve brought the number of homeless veterans in New Orleans to a functional zero by December of 2014 – more than a year ahead of the proposed goal. (Hear straight from a New Orleanian about the role open data played in the city’s transformation.)
There are projects like these at work across the country, whether you realized it or not.
Over the course of the past six years, this Administration has been steadily creating programs in partnership with the communities they intend to serve – from southeastern Kentucky to Fresno to Detroit.
While there are a lot of things we have been up to from addressing climate change to poverty alleviation, we are taking a new approach — one that relies on communities developing plans that best fit their needs rather than the laundry list of programs the government has. It’s pretty simple. First, we partner with communities by seeking out their plans or vision. Second, we take a one-government approach that crosses agency and program silos to support communities in implementing their plans for improvement. Finally we focus on what works, using data to measure success and monitor progress.
Construction and development of the Loyola Avenue-Union Passenger Terminal Streetcar Lines had stalled out, leaving low-income areas underserved for decades. A $45 million TIGER grant ensured the streetcar expansion was completed by 2013, and has connected residential neighborhoods — including low-income communities — directly with Amtrak and intercity bus service.

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaackie!
I hope the glow of your vacation is still with you!
Congrats J4O on First !
Do you have AT&T U-Verse? The network that $arah $alad Palin is interviewing Rumpt on is One America Network.
I’ll have to check jojo 🙂
Thank goodness TWC doesn’t have that dreck.
😀 😀
Thanks Missy.
Congrats on 1st Jackie!!
TY Chips!!!
Way to go, Jackie!
Allison Parker’s father says that neither Virginia Senator has contacted him……
So little class in the US Congress anymore.
…..and they won’t. They suck at the teete of the NRA.
Is he upset that they haven’t responded to his attempt to reach them?
I’m not happy with the way he addressed President Obama in his interview “You have nothing to lose” “You can make…”
Grief is no excuse to be disrespectful to your President, nor to not understand how Congress works.

Until legislators get elected/re-elected BECAUSE they vote for gun sense, the NRA will continue to bully elected officials.
If members of congress wouldn’t vote for gun control when one of their own was attacked – what chance now?
Thanks Chips!
I have decided.
he really has grown into the peppering of his hair. it’s added even more depth to his handsomeness.
Whole heartedly agree – no haggard, dropping, baggy demeanor with this man. Oh, JER? Dear? You know what I’m askin’? ❤
What are you askin’ MP? ❤
JER is a dear to lift the photos from Instagram for those of us who do not twitter.
Oh, so you’re asking JER for more pictures – I understand now 🙂
*drooping
Another GQ photograph.
The man has the LOOK 😉
PBO is so knowledgeable on so many topics.
Yes he is GGAil. He is amazing. I am so proud that I voted for him twice.
Me toooooooo Jackie 🙂
EXCELLENT Webcast! In my considered opinion, any politician who listened to that and then votes ‘no’ is an idiot!
Or has an agenda other than a peaceful resolution of the issue, VC. Thus, …
…. wanted to keep it positive.
#TrustBarack
Cool, I like positively worded tweets (even when the carry negative message/undertones). 😉
🙂
Thanks for the RT, VC!
back to work … see you folk in a couple of hours ….
A real ‘couple’ or a Bobfr couple? 😀 😀
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.
William Shakespeare
It was an excellent dialogue. This si what it means to be President, to discuss issues with clarity, knowledge and compassion.
I have so much respect for the President when he opens up as he did here, revealing such an in-depth awareness of other peoples/nations! I have always loved the way PBO speaks about his opponents, although I know I could not emulate him. 😉
He is indeed a better person than I – although I am growing into one – it may take another decade before I get there 🙂
😀 😀 I won’t pretend I’m growing into a better person, though I will admit PBO has taught me a lot about how (not) to respond to the taunts of friends/frenemies.
Believe me when I admit that I am a much better person than I was in the past. And I also admit I have room for improvement.
I don’t understand why I’m only now seeing your response. WordP doesn’t like me. O well.
😦
I like you vc ❤
Me, too, GGail! President Obama has always modeled the behavior he wants to encourage in others.
Oh Thank you Chips! Was just about to work on my taxes and saw this post.
Noticed that PBO referred to the friendship between the Israeli people and the American people (ahemm… smoothly skipping over Bibi in that statement 🙂 )
I may barf a little bit.
And she’s proud because Trump told her he liked the way she shakes her ass?
Miley has a little substance.
She acts out to push a cause or to monetize her craft.
Don’t think so, Don. Molly Cyrus is actually pretty liberal. She probably sent this out as a joke. It’s pretty creepy when you consider what this old man was saying to Molly, who is younger than his daughter, Ivanka.

She is probably shaking her head thinking…and now the man running for POTUS.
From the article, she seems to be calling out his hypocrisy, since on Twitter he’s very critical of her.
Can’t stand either one of them. UGH.
By the way Chips, did you get Danny this for his 2nd Bday?
I just watched the end of the webcast. I am always so impressed by the way the president puts himself “out there” in so many ways. It shows immense intelligence and confidence. What a man!

Horrifying!

Anything is possible on the wild wild web.
🙂 🙂 🙂
Don’t be petty, sir.
You took too long to announce, hence you allowed Sen Sanders to get ahead of you.
Sanders is pissed about the number of debates as well.
how is it petty to not agree with them limiting debates or crowning anyone king or queen before the race has even begun?
O’Malley is exactly right.
It’s petty now for he is at 1-2% in the polls.

On my list of things I’d like to un-see:
Just saw GWB dancing with some woman down in New Orleans today and the top of his head is balding. Ugh!!!
I google that just to see if he looked uncomfortable there. Well I can bet that I know more Latinos than this journalist and Trump is universally loathed.
I’m not sure but I certainly don’t want to see 28 debates but I figure 10-12 would probably have been good.
Martin O’ Malley answered that question definitely, in my view.

Well that’s gonna make quite a few people happy here in the DC area. 🙂
Wow, DWS has declared motions for support of PBO’s Iran deal and the question of more debates are out of order.
WTH?
Really? You’ll have to keep us posted. I’m at work and cannot watch right now.
Sorry if already posted but we need a FLOTUS break:
I guess Mom is busy getting the girls ready for school. Do Malia and Sasha go back to school after Labor Day?
I agree with this:
Oh. I am out of sequence here. I offered an extended take on Martin’s speech up-thread.
It’s an excuse.
The DNC and Dems’ elected officials in general have been SILENT while GOPers, Fox, Talk Hate Radio and MSM plus Emoprogs have been tearing Pres Obama down for years.

Go to 29 min and watch Martin O’Malley rip the DNC, I mean RIP …..

😀 😀
I went back and checked, Bfr – yep, a regular ‘couple’! 😀 😀 😀 🙂

Thanks Bobfr I just watched that clip, he was on fire and DWS was not happy.
Both of which made me very happy, Roberta!!
I watched part of the DNC introductions and passed most of it. They had a message from President Obama and the Mayor of Baltmore and Donna Brazile didn’t clap at all. It was the most disgusting thing. I feel bad for R.T. Rybak who loves out POTUS to sit up there and watch all the disrespect for this President. It is no wonder they have no money. (DNC) I refuse to contribute at all until we have a candidate or there is someone that I can get behind.
This is especially galling, Roberta, since PBO is doing fundraiser after fundraiser to help increase the DNC coffers. Total ingrates is what they are.
I know, it is enough to make you want to scream. On another note, how was your doctor appt?, did anything new come up? Are you feeling better? If you posted something earlier, I am sorry I missed it. Just head me the right direction. 🙂
I will never understand this. Not ever.
What is hard to understand?
When DWS and the DNC have showed us over and over what their agenda is, why not believe them?
It is not that hard to see they do not like the blk man in the WH. They especially don’t like him empwrng all those folks of color. THEY WANT TO TAKE THEIR PARTY BACK!
This is why they did not want him to campaign for, why they never tout his accomplishments. It is unfortunate that they are the only game n town.
I get that it’s racist. It’s just very hard for me to understand why they think it will fly with all of us.
They know it won’t fly. This is what throwing the game looks like in political terms.
It’s a stupid and dangerous game.
