Grief is no excuse to be disrespectful to your President, nor to not understand how Congress works.
Apparently, he ran for a Delegate Seat in VA. He said he knew both Senators Kaine and Warner. He said they tweeted out something, but none had called him and he knew them both. He said that now, he is going to get a gun for he knows that some might find his ‘Crusade’ for sensible gun control law objectionable. He challenged the News Media to challenge all as Dan Rather had asked in his Op-Ed piece.
He used ISIL on Live presser.
It looks like his daughter is going to be cremated.
I feel for him and his family.
Getting a gun of his own is not going to protect him or assuage his grief. He probably didn’t pay much attention to this issue until his own daughter was murdered, so he doesn’t know President Obama has done every single thing he could do WITHOUT Congress on this issue. I hope he will work with Everytown and Richard Martinez to pressure Congress to finally pass universal background checks. Until legislators get elected/re-elected BECAUSE they vote for gun sense, the NRA will continue to bully elected officials.
If members of congress wouldn’t vote for gun control when one of their own was attacked – what chance now?

It was an excellent dialogue. This si what it means to be President, to discuss issues with clarity, knowledge and compassion.
I have so much respect for the President when he opens up as he did here, revealing such an in-depth awareness of other peoples/nations! I have always loved the way PBO speaks about his opponents, although I know I could not emulate him. 😉
He is indeed a better person than I – although I am growing into one – it may take another decade before I get there 🙂

I just watched the end of the webcast. I am always so impressed by the way the president puts himself “out there” in so many ways. It shows immense intelligence and confidence. What a man!

O’Malley is exactly right.
It’s petty now for he is at 1-2% in the polls.
O’Malley could have easily be where Sanders numbers are today or better had he announced his candidacy long time ago. What he did was to stick his fingers in the air to see how and where the winds were blowing.
A Party makes it’s own rule. He knew that. Crying over a done deal is petty.
Good for Martin. DWS is a lousy DNC chairman and should have stepped down or been asked to leave a long time ago. She is the wrong person to have in place in a presidential election year.
I agree, I think DWS is more interested in sucking up to the Clinton machine that promoting anything productive or worthwhile. DWS has put the democratic party on the back burner imo, in order to gain ‘favor’ with Hill.

There was a story circulating that she threatened to scream anti-Semitism if PBO got rid of her. The fact that she failed spectacularly in 2014, and didn’t support PBO enough in 2012 should have shamed her enough to give the job to someone who gets it. I have come to loathe her. When I tweet her, I make sure she knows it’s coming from a 65 year old American Jewish Democrat.

Martin was more than scathing.
He accused the DNC of rigging the debate schedule to make sure that Democratic voices weren’t heard.
Not only the small amount of debates prior to the Iowa and NH caucus and primary, Martin said that one of the debates was during the height of Holiday Shopping season deliberately so that nobody would watch it.
Martin O’Malley said that the GOP had All the attention now and that the DNC intends for that to continue.
Then Bernie said what we here at TOD have been saying. That Dems lost in 2014, not that the GOP won. WE LOST. We gave it away.
And if we continue the way we are going we will repeat the loses in 2016, not only the Senate and the House, but even more Governors and the WH. Bernie said that the enthusiasm he’s been generating is what we need. NOT that we need Him, necessarily. We need a campaign that inspires Democrats to participate.

My 2 cents is that they are both right. All the bogus polls declaring the races competitive or whatever do not matter if Dems are put back to sleep by a candidate we don’t care about.
And the cherry on the top today was the Clinton Camp announcement that she’s already got the election delegates sewn up.
In 2007-2008 the Clinton operatives kept assuring themselves that they had it all “wired.” yeah, right.

Announcing that you’ve got a large portion of delegates sewn up before one single primary vote has been cast is a very stupid tactic. I know they’re trying to blunt the onslaught of Biden stories but it’s a very amateur move. We will not be intimidated and we will not be silenced. Let the primaries happen. Let the people vote. And then let’s unify behind the winner. But it MUST be a democratic process where voters feel included and necessary to the final outcome not an elite coronation because we own her something for some reason. This will backfire.

Just saw GWB dancing with some woman down in New Orleans today and the top of his head is balding. Ugh!!!
I google that just to see if he looked uncomfortable there. What I noticed was at the end of his dance he turned one of the (cute?) flute players around to take a ‘selfie’ with her while she was still playing. Right beside her was someone in a wheelchair and tho he spoke to her briefly he didn’t ‘offer’ to take a selfie with her. *Our* president would have been more tactful, I think.

I watched part of the DNC introductions and passed most of it. They had a message from President Obama and the Mayor of Baltmore and Donna Brazile didn’t clap at all. It was the most disgusting thing. I feel bad for R.T. Rybak who loves out POTUS to sit up there and watch all the disrespect for this President. It is no wonder they have no money. (DNC) I refuse to contribute at all until we have a candidate or there is someone that I can get behind.
This is especially galling, Roberta, since PBO is doing fundraiser after fundraiser to help increase the DNC coffers. Total ingrates is what they are.

but i fault myself re my role as a Democrat…i did not push the local machine to do more…i just stayed on the outside…in order to have impact on the local party…you have to agitate from the inside and the outside….,,the President had the wherewithal to create an outside structure to the Dem party….he had to…and perhaps they have not forgiven him for going around them…but he could never have built the kind grass roots structure that he did if had not gone around them….so here we are in 2016…facing the same issues within the DEM party that existed before the advent of Barack Obama…i am not sure what we can do about it
