Great, Laurie! I also wrote to every Washington resident in my address book and asked them to call Murray and Cantwell, email on their Senate.gov site, and tweet them if possible, I really think that your two Senators and Merkley will come out for the Iran Deal sooner or later. I just want it to be sooner so our allies don’t think we are all untrustworthy megalomaniacs. Now Wyden is a different kettle of gefilte fish!

Thanks Senator Reid.
I ❤ ❤ ❤ the way Dems are daily issuing out their support for the #IranDeal.
The Corporate News Media may continue to willfully not Cover the YES Votes with as much Gusto as they have covered Schumer and Menedez. The Victory is Ours, the PEACEmakers, who dared to Imagine, Hope and Make Change Happen.
The way the yeses are rolling out reminds me of how then Senator Obama saved and timed out Democratic endorsements to be announced during the 2008 Primary campaign. It seems too familiar to just be a coincidence to me.
Ah yes. I well remember how Candidate Obama rolled out the John Edwards endorsement the very night of Hillary’s biggest win by 41% in the West Virginia primary. Edwards had been playing coy with who to endorse, literally asking the candidates to fly out to his digs in North Carolina. Then Bam, PBO kills Hillary’s victory party w/ Edwards endorsement performance. T’was pure joy
My theory was right on the timing for Sen. Reid’s announcement to coincide w/a fundraiser for his Senate replacement @CatherineForNV http://www.emilyslist.org/candidates/catherine-cortez-masto ….President Obama will be in Las Vegas earlier than I thought…He we be there tomorrow for the 2015 National Clean Energy Summit.
It looks like there is a decent chance now that the repub resolution on Iran can be defeated in the senate- no veto overide necessary
he has gone a long way in making me to lean towards optimism that we may not only be going for senators that would prevent a veto over-ride, but that we could in the end be able to have Dems mount a filibuster
This should be further reason for optimism that blocking cloture is an achievable goal…notice his RT’s & the not so veiled shot at Sen. Schumer, fence-sitting D’s, RWNJ, and Bibi “It is fantasy to say that if Congress rejects the agreement, the Administration can simply GO BACK AND GET A BETTER AGREEMENT” ….

By the way, has anyone here seen any communication from e.g. the “Code Pink” people demanding a vote for the #IranDeal? Who can forget how often and loudly they would get into PBO’s face demanding : Stop The War, or No War with …. (fill in a country).
So if they are quiet now can we assume that their prior confrontations were just against PBO and not for any real substance???

I agree with you on Kim Dickens. in Deadwood and Treme she played forceful competent women. Never watched Sons of Anarchy.
Cliff Curtis was in a short series called Gang Related where he, too, was a competent strong leader, although a bad guy. Seems like these 2 will be the Rick and Carol type leaders.
I’ve read that the 2 stories will not meet up any time soon and there will be no CDC revelation in this one.
To refresh your memory, at the CDC the director whispered in Rick’s ear that every living thing on the planet has the virus. No Hope.

Life can be full of grief, and hurt, and pain, and disappointment. However, life also offers small pleasures that sooth our hearts, put a smile on our faces, and remind us that it is worth living, even when all seems bleak.
I love to put a video when I go about household businesses. So, I put on the Alabama spectacle of The Donald because of the “huge” numbers. I wanted to see what the man had to say to all those that seem to follow him blindly.
I have to admit, the man is a show by himself. There was nothing else but how great his campaign was, how huge his numbers have been, how fantastic he was doing, and how horrible everybody else was. He doesn’t let 2 minutes pass by without complimenting himself for one deed or another. There was no plan in the speech (if one can call that a speech). It’s just hot air, anything that goes through his mind just like a stand up comedian picked up at random from a bar of half-brain drunkards.
He jumped from one topic to another, from his wealth to his buildings, from his rich son to the pitiful Senator Session (with a scare look on his face) that supports him, from illegal immigrants to POTUS. More than once, the clown made me laugh.
The gullible people found reason to cheer him, to praise him, and to clap even before he finished a rant. Not because he amused them, but because they believed in him. As a savior. They believed in him with hope that he would lead them to the promise land, a land away from the other Republicans they used to vote for.
That let me see what’s ailing politics in America. There are just too many of half-brain people around. People who use the loss of factories, their grief over abandoned rural towns, their hurt because the rich Republicans they voted in office left them behind, their economic pain, and the disappointment over what Bush did to them as a compass to guide them in the next elections.
There are just too many of these people who believe in political ads and take them at face value. There are just too many people watching Fox News and not reading good newspapers. There are just too many of those gullible people that confuse their Bibles with the conservative lies politicians tell them. They are just too many.
The Donald will continue to attract huge crowds because he is the only one (surpassing the Teabaggers) that offers a platform to these people of which there are just enough in every state to fill a stadium. As for me, I enjoyed looking at The Donald leading the Fools.
These people would be more laughable if my heart didn’t pity them.
NCLB….these people who follow the Donald and his racist demagoguery are not new….I see Them…what concerns me is what will DEMs do…what kind of campaign will they mount that will inspire folks to work for them…to organize…to register folks to vote……to GOTV…..who is organizing the ground game…..be in Sanders …HRC….O’Malley…..or VP Biden…..this is where my concern is…
I posted Joe’s ‘must read’ LA Times OP-ED in the previous thread and truly hope either Chips or NW will feature it in an upcoming TOD ‘front page.’ Joe must have been as amused as I was, because he RT’d this response to his analysis ….
Seriously, folk – follow the link in that tweet to Joe’s article and read it and share it with anyone foolish enough to think the downside of America trying to block @TheIranDeal is anything less than the total isolation of America.
GWB & Cheney gave it their best shot and if weren’t for 6+ years of President Obama’s leadership they might have succeeded.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid: Trump Fans ‘White Americans Who Feel Left Out of Obama’s America’
11:27 am, August 22nd, 20152229
Prior to Donald Trump‘s (not-so-) massive Friday evening rally at an Alabama football stadium, MSNBC’s Joy Reid offered her take on who composes the majority of the billionaire developer’s support base.
“I think what you have with Trump, and what I see as his base, is not just the far-right, but the right,” she told Hardball host Chris Matthews, “and it’s a lot of Republicans who are disgruntled with the Republican party.”
According to Reid, there’s a racial element here as well:
It’s white Republicans. It’s mostly white male Republicans and it’s basically white Americans who feel left out of Obama’s America; who are peeved with the fact that their preferred party can’t seem to beat Obama; and who want to hear a guy be able to stand up and be as politically incorrect as they can’t be. They’d get fired from their jobs if they put on Facebook some of the things Trump said. But here’s a guy who can say what he wants to. Be a man’s man and get out there and be the kind of Ronald Reaganesque kind of America where we what we want, said what we want, pushed the world around, and told them to go to hell if we wanted to.
Joy Reid is telling the truth, they are right wing white racists Americans. And they are left out of Obama’s American because they want to be left out.
GOP struggles to replace ObamaCare without losing voters
By Sarah Ferris – 08/23/15 02:30 PM EDT
Just before Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal revealed his plan to replace ObamaCare last year, he sat down with 15 of Washington’s top conservative healthcare wonks to discuss it. They didn’t approve.
“Near the end, they said, ‘You make a good point, but what you’ve put forward, we just don’t think it’s politically viable,’” Jindal’s long-time adviser Curt Anderson recalled in an interview this week.
To his surprise, he said the group agreed the next GOP nominee couldn’t entirely roll back ObamaCare for fear of losing votes from millions already with coverage. In other words, even ObamaCare’s toughest critics say that parts of the law are here to stay.
The 2016 election will mark the first time Republicans will be running against Obamacare since its biggest pieces have gone into effect, including billions of dollars of subsidies that have helped millions to gain coverage.
Already, GOP strategists are getting heartburn about how to fight against ObamaCare without turning away those who are benefitting.
We were fortunate that the golf tournament didn’t go to a playoff (Davis Love III won w/ a score of -17 w/ 2 player ending up at -16) ….if that would have happened Count Knoller would have gone into a tizzy b/c that would have meant 60 minutes would be starting late…and nothing pisses him off more that Golf tournaments ruining his Sunday viewing schedule 😀 😀 😀 😀
Witnessed a lot on twitter the beginnings of a freak out if/when VP Joe jumps into the race. HRC diehards are seeing it as betrayal of her rightful assumption of the office and Berniestans are saying he’s no different than HRC and PBO, a corporatist sell-out. LOLz.
Good evening Chips, Danny and TOD! Chips, so nice to see you back. We missed you although NW did a spectacular job in your absence. Managed to get away for a bit for some beach time with the grandkids before they start school here tomorrow. Had a wonderful time and a nice break from politics although I couldn’t resist checking Twitter once a day;-)
So glad to see Harry finally came out with full support for the Iran deal and will be whipping. PBO can lose 3 more Dems and still hold the bill of disapproval up. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is a spectacular loss for Bibi and the Rs.
Not sure what to think about the Donald but I think all of these pundits who think he is going anywhere are dreaming. After decades of whipping hatred there are plenty of Rs to keep him around. I also was shocked to hear him hit the hedge fund managers hard this morning. Rience must be pulling his hair out. But if he expands into this type of rhetoric he will be able to broaden his base. At this point, I no longer think it is impossible for him to win the nomination although he loses the general. And I also am keeping my fingers crossed that our dear VP will in fact decide to run. I think Hillary once again demonstrates that she is a terrible campaigner and terrible manager of crises. I will vote for her if necessary but it will not be a fun vote.
Still much to catch up on between laundry etc but always good to come back here!
Congratulations NCLB! Thanks NW, great news!
Thanks, Carol.
🙂
Really is that necessary, Mr. Knoller?.
The Count must count. For him, it is count or die! 😏
😀
Congrats No Child Left Behind! And good wishes TODers!
I am so glad Sen. Reid has finally come out for the Iran deal. Now if he would only agree to never mention Schumer’s name again!
Thank you, NW, for bringing us over!
Have a great afternoon.
Smart exchange for a beautiful sunday afternoon.

Yes, yes! Thank you Nena.
Ron Wyden needs to heed Senator Reid’s last tweet (the one about the enforcements and monitoring of Iran).
Absolutely! Going to a rally this Wednesday in front of Wyden’s Portland office to present a petition and call for sense!
Way to go Judith! ^5

Congrats NCLB on your Gold ⭐
Merci Nena!
does anyone know when the President arrives at the WH
Ask Count von Knoller! He knows everything and in detail.

As for Trump, it’s way past time for EVERY American to ask him how he’s going to deport 11 MILLION people ….
I can’t wait to see the plan to refoule en masse the 11 million people, some of them children that will be taken from their classrooms, others will be pulled from an emergency hospital bed,
We face the same choice the ‘good people of Germany, Austria, etc.’ faced in the 1930s, NCLB.
We are the ONLY ones who can stop the mob that Trump is so easily manipulating and, it’s obvious, he’s got the bulk of corporate media on his team.

Wow! Mr. Ken Burns does not mince words here. Clearly we have a lot of work to do.
by the way, I would not be surprised if he is vilified by the usual racists after they see and listen to what he has to say here
Now, Mark is thinking about what they’re thinking about, when he thinks.

Ha!
Witnessed a lot on twitter the beginnings of a freak out if/when VP Joe jumps into the race. HRC diehards are seeing it as betrayal of her rightful assumption of the office and Berniestans are saying he’s no different than HRC and PBO, a corporatist sell-out. LOLz.
oh, I have already seen some of that – pathetic
The HRC PUMAs were quiet for a bit, there.
New post.
