Happy Ftiday evening, lp. Need to go back and check these out. ๐Ÿ˜˜

‘The Indian city of Cochin is now home to the first international airport that is completely powered by solar energy. Local officials in the Indian state of Kerala marked the opening of a Cochin International Airport’s massive solar plant Tuesday. The massive solar plant providing power to the airport is made up of more than 46,000 solar panels spread across a 45-acre stretch of land near the airport’s cargo complex. All in all, the airport will have between 50 and 60 thousand units of electricity a day, thanks to the plant โ€” enough to make the airport “absolutely power neutral,” according to a statement.

The airport first began using solar power in 2013 when it installed solar panels on the roof of one of its terminals. This was followed by another, larger, installation, which eventually lead to the current 46,000+ panel plant that totals 12 MW of power overall…The overall impact of the solar project will be significant and long-lasting, officials say. The airport’s solar facilities are expected to reduce 300,000 tons of carbon emissions over the next 25 years…continued’

‘The cost of solar power is at a record low. A typical solar home can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars per year on their electricity bill. But, as a volunteer with the Boston-based solar program Solarize Massachusetts and a solar homeowner myself, Iโ€™ve always been surprised at how many people I encounter who think that โ€œmy roof isnโ€™t sunny enough for solar,โ€ or โ€œsolar is just too expensive.โ€ Certainly many of them are missing out on a chance to save money and be green. Enter Project Sunroof, my recent 20% project. Project Sunroof is a new online tool weโ€™re testing to help homeowners explore whether they should go solar.

Available in the San Francisco Bay Area, Fresno (in central California), and the Boston area for now, the tool uses high-resolution aerial mapping (the same used by Google Earth) to help you calculate your roofโ€™s solar energy potential, without having to climb up any ladders….Google has always been a big believer in zero-carbon energy, and solar power has been a central part of that vision — from accelerating the growth of rooftop solar, to helping finance the largest solar farm in Africa, to building one of Americaโ€™s biggest campus solar arrays here in Mountain View. While Project Sunroof is in a pilot phase for now, during the coming months weโ€™ll be exploring how to make the tool better and more widely available. If you find that your address isnโ€™t covered by the tool yet, you can leave your email address and weโ€™ll let you know when Project Sunroof is ready for your rooftop’

      Hi LP, Great Toons. ๐Ÿ™‚
Actually, we just completed the installation of solar panels, batteries & inverter in our home in West Africa this very week. Together with purifying our own borehole water with reverse osmosis machine to bottled water quality, we are off grid completely with utilities. Hubby and I feel very accomplished. ๐Ÿ˜€

Wow you should…that is amazing, Zizi! When I eventually have enough money to build a house….not only am I going to predominantly use solar for electricity, but I’m going to use a geothermal heating & cooling system under the foundation too.

I saw that the other day, Meta! PBO was giving him the death stare forcing him to put out 4 footers ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ….Tiger is leading the tourney he is in at -11 after today too…if he comes in 2nd or better it will allow him to play in the FedEx championship and if he wins it will be his first since ’13 ๐Ÿ˜Ž ….Serena also advanced to the semifinals today over Ivanavic in a warm up for the U.S. Open beginning next week!
