Congrats jazz 🙂 And, thank you for sharing the reality that Monticello, today, is as deeply responsible for the lack of #TruthAndReconciliation as are many other US institutions.

Thank you NW for the fun fly fishing outing pictures and for continuing to keep TOD rolling #FORWARD!!

“Whitewashing our history of slavery is not only dishonest but also allows for a disconnect between the horrors of slavery and the current entrenchment of inequality.”

Congratulations, jazziz2 ! Thanks for these marvelous and delightful photos, NerdyWonka. Never saw them and what a treat. The first one is so moving. What a family. What brilliant parents and good dear people they are. You can see it in Sasha’s sweet proud face. And the grins all around on the fishing trip. POTUS is a force for good and joy. He is present, he is open to wonder, he is in the moment, in good times and in hard times, joy and sorrow. We are SO BLESSED!

theyre stil trying to deny Sally Hemings.
woman CAME BACK FROM PARIS PREGNANT.
Just stop and admit that Jefferson was her Baby Daddy.
We won’t even get into that Sally was his late wife’s half-sister.

The comments section go a long way to explain why this white wash exists at Monticello…the white wash is part of the very fiber of America…this denial by white folks of the atrocity of slavery…and its relationship to the present day oppression of blk folks….it is incredible to read..but not really surprising…

i would rank the recent interaction between Sanders and his supporters and the BLM activists…as another example…

I just watched the raising of the flag at the American embassy in Havana on C-span. This is part of my personal history. When I was in college, I worked at the Main Navy building in the summers. I rode the bus down 16th St. past the Cuban Embassy. It was a lovely building with tropical plants in the front, a very graceful place. Summers of ’58, ’59, ’60…..a beautiful sight. Summer of ’61, all was changed. Barbed wire and chains around it, plants gone……a sign of our relationship.

I am thrilled with the reopening of relations and re-establishment of the two embassies. Bravo President Obama and Secretary Kerry.

Seeing Donald Trump zooming ahead in the polls on the GOP side is scary. If he were the Republican candidate and for some unforeseen reason won our Country would be doomed. It would be the biggest contrast ever between an intelligent, respectful, sane President followed by a bombastic, ego driven, bully that is insane.

“An energy company based in the Caribbean has been accused of providing energy products to the Syrian government of Bashar Assad.

Blue Energy of P.O. Box 556, Charlestown in Nevis, West Indies has been slammed by the US Treasury Department, along with 11 other companies and individuals globally, for providing the energy products the Syrian government is using in the conflict there.

Blue Energy’s assets will be frozen and no American will be allowed to do business with them. It is the lone Caribbean registered company accused. The company is linked to Milenyum Energy S.A

The US Treasury said many of those targeted are front companies the Syrian government has used to evade U.S. and European Union sanctions.”
