    Hello TOD 🙂
Sunny. Hot. Humid. Blue Sky, though 😉
    Fantastic R&S, NW. Brava!
I have missed the ceremony in Cuba with the reopening and the Flag raising of US Flag as SoS Kerry leads the Historic Event. Thanks to TOD, I am covered. Unbeatable.
Congrats to Roberta from MN on her Au ⭐ win on the R&S post and Congrats to Don on his Au ⭐ win on this Post.
The Tweet caught my eye……I ❤ it 🙂

Worth a Read by Josh Marshall.

      August 14, 2015 at 12:30 pm

I don’t always agree with Josh Marshall, Nena, but he’s absolutely right on the mark this time. Schumer surrendered his common sense and integrity on this one so as not to rock the boat with his backers. He needs to pay a stiff price for this act of moral cowardice.

    • August 14, 2015 at 12:31 pm

“Take all this together and I think it is possible that Schumer believes this to be a free vote for him personally – that he can vote in opposition, either knowing that it will pass (sustain a presidential veto) or at least that he won’t be blamed for it going down.”

That’s my take. This is classic Schumer like exhibit b: his Obamacare blatherings. All very convenient after he voted for it. Bet you that doesn’t stop him from showing up early to take credit for a new healthcare facility in his neck of the woods.

He’s a smoothie I’ll give him that. I wasn’t surprised when Senate Democrats rallied around him a few days ago. Schumer is well connected and knows how to (or so he thinks) cover all the bases.

        August 14, 2015 at 12:36 pm

I get that and to a large extent, I agree with your analysis. The only thing that Sen Schumer is and has forgotten, in the Age/Era of Pres Obama…….many of Us on the left are tired of his political back-stabbing.

        • August 14, 2015 at 12:51 pm

You’re right about that but I just don’t know how we can get it to cost him. From what I know he’s pretty much entrenched as New York’s Senator. Dems have already signaled (although it’s still early) their not going to abandon him for Minority Leader. How do you reach a guy like this?

          • 40 Nena20409
            August 14, 2015 at 1:14 pm

Since 58% plus in NT support the #IranDeal…….as the NY press continues to highlight this…..and hopefully, a challenger emerges to go against Schumer…….then a de Blasio grassroots candidate can defeat Schumer no matter the size and pocket of the money backers.

            • August 14, 2015 at 1:32 pm

I don’t think half of that 58% would be willing to get rid of Schumer on one issue. Granted it’s an important one but my guess is if he’s bringing home the pork which he’s very good at then saying no on the Iran Deal won’t really hurt him. Everybody and their uncle in New York knows Schumer has always been Israel’s and specifically Bibi’s errand boy. That hasn’t stopped them from giving him three terms so so his decision was probably less a surprise to them than it was to the rest of us.

But he might have to lose to get the message. Sometimes a good scare can do a world of good 😉

      • August 14, 2015 at 12:55 pm

His vote is to please his backers and his friends. And his senate colleagues are not outraged at all. They themselves often put politics before policy. He’s “one of them”; they have plenty of sympathy for someone who votes with his self-interest in mind.

Tells you a lot about Washington culture, doesn’t it ?

      • August 14, 2015 at 7:59 pm

Derbingle2, he is not smooth at all. He thinks his shit doesn’t stink. He is running out of victim cards. I have no more of PBO fucks to give for these coward Dems. They really think after PBO era we will automatically vote for them.
I am NOT donating a dime to DNC until and unless VP Biden runs.

Just finished watching the ceremony for the re-opening of our embassy in Cuba and I am so filled with gratitude, pride and amazement. What manner of man is this POTUS Barack Hissein Obama with whom God has so richly blessed the world? So many who were once considered to be enemies, Hanoi, the former USSR, and now Cuba, all the boogeyman men of my growing up years, have been vanquished by principle diplomacy and the understanding that the world is too small, that we are too inter-connected and inter-dependent to continue years of fruitless animosity. Our president is a great statesman and a man for the ages. We are so blessed and my heart is overflowing.
I am also currently grooving to PBO’s summer playlist. This man is everything!

    • August 14, 2015 at 1:10 pm

Next to PBO, I love and admire SOS John Kerry. His smarts, strength, integrity, unselfishness and loyalty are unlike anything that I have seen in any cabinet member, senator, or politician on any other level. How can a man in his 70’s (a handsome silver fox with a full head of hair, yum!) with an injury keep this insane pace? He is everywhere helping to make the world safer. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”. I hope that’ve an get home to rest and relaxation with family and friends soon.

      • August 14, 2015 at 1:15 pm

Having a hard time typing on this IPad. Should be: I hope that he can get home to rest and relaxation with his family and friends.

Off to continue rocking out to PBO’s very eclectic playlist.

Senator Schumer puts politics first. Plain and simple. His comment on ObamaCare didn’t take into account AT ALL the fact that the law has saved lives and has helped millions of people. No. Schumer was whining that it made things more difficult POLITICALLY.

He is rich and navigates in a world of power and money. He is out of touch with the daily lives of ordinary americans. Oh… he will promote good policies and will be on the right side of things many times. But ONLY IF IT IS EASY POLITICALLY.

Frankly, he’s not the only one. The Clintons come to mind. After their defeat on “Hillarycare” they became much, too much timid and averted to risk.

        August 14, 2015 at 3:08 pm

Statements and positions by him and other Dems are the reason ACA was “difficult” politically! If they had been the wholehearted supporters that PBO had a right to expect, perception would have been very different. And there wouldn’t have been the 2010 and 2014 bloodbaths. So the political calculation was actually dead wrong.

American flag goes up in Havana.
    Good trend going on here.

And for an extra smidgen of interesting goodness, somebody on Laura Rozen’s twitter feed mentioned that repair work was going on in Tehran at what used to be the American Embassy.

Been coming into work earlier than usual, so I listen to Bill Press in the a.m. Not one of my favorites, but at least a progressive view. The other day he had a reporter on who has been covering the Sanders campaign. She affirmed what I suspected: that bombastic, angry persona? Yeah, that’s him. All the time. She said to be charitable she would call it “grouchy”.

    Gee. How inspiring.
