So Hastings does not understand that all bomb-making chances are PERMANENT? Can he effing read?!?!?! Or is Fox and Schumer feeding him lies so he doesn’t have to think for himself?
Does he know that Iran is moving pro-West and jettisoning this deal will do harm to those efforts?
I don’t know his District…….well. Perhaps, those TODers in FL could help Us out with his bio.
I do remember that he was a Judge…..a Federal Judge, I believe and he was Impeached by Congress and had to Vacate his Judgeship. Then he ran for Congress and won.
He had made a number of fiery speeches in the House of Rep…..especially, during the ACA passage. I do believe that the AIPAC money machine has paid and purchased his No Vote in advance.

Happy Belated Birthday to you Donna Dem! I was lurking on threads to late to comment that day. Thank you for all you do to inform and inspire! Your info and push on the Schumer boycott has been a wonderful asset. I’ve been too busy to comment much, but trust me, I have been passing the info to F&F and heard back from many that they called/wrote their Reps and Senators on both the deal and not supporting Schumer as Senate leader.
Republicans Routed As House Democrats Set To Give Obama Total Victory On Iran Deal
President Obama has a liberal firewall in the House of Representatives as Nancy Pelosi has kept her Democrats together, and they are ready to deliver total victory for the president on the Iran deal.
Thank you to Bill and Bob for their helpful info on the Iran deal vote on the previous thread.
Re; Cong. Hastings. Who joins Steve Israel, Nita Lowey, Eliot Engel and another handful, at least, of confused and unreliable (D.)
Nancy Pelosi will hold together more than the minimum we need so if various greedy or grandstanding dopes want to get a little press which reflects much more badly on theselves than it does on the President or his Administration, Oh well…..
TOD, I took a test a few weeks ago and got the results yesterday which were inconclusive so I have to have an additional test done on Sept 2nd. I’d very much appreciate your prayers for a good result this time around. 😯
Donna, I have been through this so many times these last few months, I truly can identify. All my positive thoughts and prayers are sent your way that the waiting brings you good news at the end.
Happy Birthday Chips. May all your wishes come true!
Good morning folks. Did you see an article about Carson’s plan to tax us according to our sins? Yes, the man said that. I wonder how he plans to do it. One thing I know he better not charge me more for my sin than someone who did the same thing. He also wants a billionaire with ten billion to pay one billion in taxes. Good luck with that. But seriously is something wrong with this man?
pretty funny if it wasn’t so sad. He was my son’s neurosurgeon and I had a lot of respect for the man. smdh!!! couldn’t believe it when he started spewing bullshit.

Hello TOD on a TBT.
Waving from MN. Partly Cloudy, Thunder Storms, intermittently………Hot and Humid…….So is Aug 13th, 2015 in my neck of the woods 😉
Au ⭐ winners, Allison. Congratulations.
Congrats to the Au ⭐ winners 2-3 posts back.
Just want to thank Nerdy for all of her hard work while Chips is away and throughout the year! It is in large part because of TOD that I am able to be well-informed on how brilliant and effective PBO and his administration have been.
I just need to briefly vent about a conversation I had yesterday, not unlike many others I have had during PBO’s presidency. I was visiting a friend yesterday and was chatting with her and her husband. I don’t remember how we got on the subject, but I was talking about our electorate not being engaged enough in the process and I echoed PBO’s words that “too often we disenfranchise ourselves” Well….. this guy starts by saying (I kid you not), “Well, I’m kind of disenfranchised with Obama.” (no, he wasn’t speaking of his voting rights, he meant “disappointed”). Then he proceeded to go through a vague laundry list of far-left wish list items of his that hadn’t been met. He said, “He’s been bad on food – he appointed that Monsanto guy to the food thing.” When I asked what “food thing” he was speaking of, he couldn’t remember. Then he complained that PBO hadn’t gotten a better healthcare deal, you know, the usual far-left unicorn of the perfect, completely government-run system. I told him, “you have great insurance,” (he works in the film industry and is unionized) “After paying thousands of dollars a year and not being able to go to the doctor, I know have wonderful insurance, thanks to PBO and Nancy Pelosi.” He argued that I would have had a better deal if PBO had “not caved to the insurance industry” I looked at him incredulously and asked, “Do you know how hard it was to get what we got?” He ended the conversation by asking me, “What do you think of [you guessed it] drones?” Sigh.
I’m so tired of ignorance and disengagement that’s still full of opinions. This is from the left, right and center. The sad truth is, those of us at TOD, who pay attention to what is ACTUALLY happening with policy, are in the minority.
Again, thank you Nerdy, thank you Chips, thank you to all of my fellow TODers who share, inform and pay attention. I think I would lose my mind if not for you all.
P.S. He thinks HRC is unelectable and doesn’t know who Bernie Sanders is. He’s another Gen Xer, like me. To me, this guy is representative of a lot of the electorate. Told him if VP Biden runs I’d be donating the same day. He seemed surprised – said something about gaffes. He hadn’t even considered him as an option. His thoughts on HRC and Sanders make me think even more that VP Biden is definitely our best choice/chance for 2016.
I. am. so. fed. up. with the narrative of “Joe Biden the gaffe machine”. I don’t know about his chances at getting the nomination, but I would love Joe to run anyway, if only to silence the critics, and demonstrate how COMPETENT he is , and how shallow the media has been towards him, creating this cartoonish version of him that bares little resemblance to reality.
When he said he didn’t know who Bernie Sanders was, he just proved your point about ignorant electorate…end of discussion. All he had were LW talking points. Plus he needs to understand definitions of words he uses.
Some of those people who is supporting Trump is so stupid as to believe that Trump can get ISIS oil, make Mexico pay for that wall, and he is going to send 11 million illegals out of the country and then let them come in legal. Stupid racists people.
One of the military’s most profound culinary inventions was cheese powder.
“[They] took the powder and sent it overseas to Army cooks where it was used as an ingredient. After the war ended, there was a whole, little cheese dehydrating industry that had sprouted up and it had excess product and it also had no customers,” Marx de Salcedo said. “So it quickly turned to the grocery manufacturers like Kraft and Frito-Lay and Nabisco. It provided this cheese powder as an ingredient where it soon began to appear coating things like Cheetos and as an ingredient in things like mac and cheese and cheesy crackers.”
So I just saw this video of Howard Dean being asked if VP Joe should run. He said no, Joe is too old. WTF? He went on to say that even though Bernie is old he’s captured the youth in a way that Joe couldn’t.
We know that Dean has already endorsed HRC. He must see VP Joe as credible threat. Hey Howard, YES WE CAN.
What I think is that Howard Dean doesn’t seem bothered by the age of Bernie Sanders because he knows Mr. Sanders is not in the race to win the nomination and is not in the least interested in becoming the President of the United States. Bernie Sanders entered the race convinced HRC would get the nomination. He won’t tell his supporters, but Senator Sanders just wants to make a statement, and push Hillary to the left.
On the opposite, Howard Dean knows that if Joe Biden enters the race, it’s because he really wants the job.
Hence Dean’s remarks about age.
I would love for Joe Biden to run. We have to acknowledge though that the “age” factor would be used against him.
If he was ten years younger, he would be unbeatable in my opinion. He still could win because of his competence and character, no question about it. It would just be a little harder.
The biggest factor for Biden as he explores a potential campaign appears to be his late son, Beau, who reportedly urged his father to run while he was dying of brain cancer earlier this year. His death left the Biden family in visible turmoil, and it’s unclear whether the vice president is emotionally ready to enter the rigors of the campaign trail.
“Biden is not calling people asking ‘if’ he should run, but saying, ‘I am thinking about it but I’m also thinking about Beau,’ according to a source close to Biden,” NBC reported.
“I think he is doing the analysis and homework,” the source who spoke to Biden told NBC. “I can’t emphasize this enough: He is distraught over Beau’s passing and working through the grief.”
“From a White House official, we have the president’s summer reading list:
All That Is, James Salter
All The Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doerr The Sixth Extinction, Elizabeth Kolbert The Lowland, Jhumpa Lahiri Between The World and Me, Ta-Nehisi Coates
Washington: A Life, Ron Chernow
At the moment we don’t know if he’s reading actual books or using a digital device, but a source with a good memory recalls that POTUS actually bought the Lahiri hardcover book during a pooled event when it first came out a while back.”
Ms. Dudette,
What a grateful feeling to have a president who covers all the bases! I mean all the bases…….
It feels like not only is he in your head but your heart as well.
That’s truly amazing!
Hello Everyone!!
UGH
Whatever, Alcee.
Anyone know if he was on the list of supporters that Pelosi is relying on?
What a jerk!
I’m furious.
A corrupt creep…
He probably sold his vote.
Alcee, you are not needed in regards to the IranDeal, please proceed with your life.
Alcee L. Hastings, the way I see it if you vote against, then you are voting for war. I don’t give a dam about your op-ed.
Congrats on 1st Allison 😉

She has been married 3 times…..I guess her ” deeply held Christian beliefs ” don’t include being divorced and remarried.
Hypocrite !
Jeb! just said that the FBI ” TOOK ” the Clinton server, when in fact her attorney turned it in.
Jeb and Huckabee should not make any statements about Clinton’s emails. Total hypocrisy.
Still… Best TV Series EVER!!!
For sure….
