I spent three days on the beach in Carlsbad, CA but came home just in time to hear our magnificent President’s speech on the Iran Deal. He brought the details to a level that anyone could understand. What is not to like? I am looking forward to hearing that all Dems are on board with the deal. If they aren’t, we need too vote them out.

No Check, No Sale? Where Do Gun Retailers Stand?
According to federal law, anyone who purchases a gun at a federally-licensed firearms dealer must
undergo a background check. In most cases, the background check is completed within minutes, but
in rare cases a check can take longer than three days. In those rare cases, there is something in that
potential buyer’s background that is uncertain–something that requires a little more investigation.
This was the case with the Charleston shooter. But due to an NRA-backed loophole in federal law, the
firearms dealer had the legal authority to sell him a gun after three days had elapsed—even though
the background check was not complete. The shooter used that gun in his attack on the Emanuel
AME Church on June 17, 2015.
The FBI only gets three days to complete potentially life-saving background checks before a gun
dealer has the authority–not an obligation–to complete the sale. Shockingly, between 2010 and
2014, 15,000 prohibited people were able to purchase a gun because a background check was not
completed. And while some states have laws that give authorities longer than three days before
moving forward with a sale, most do not. Some retailers, like Wal-Mart, have instituted policies to
prohibit the sale of a gun to a customer who hasn’t actually passed a completed background check.
We have reached out to the top firearms retailers in the United States to see whether they have such
a policy in place, and we are providing this list so that consumers can see which retailers are putting
public safety first with a “No, Check, No Sale” policy.

“So why is Trump regarded as ludicrous, while Bush and Walker are serious? Again, on the substance they’re all ludicrous; but pundits are taken in by the sober-sounding personal style of the runners-up, while voters apparently are not.”

      • 42 desertflower
        August 5, 2015 at 3:05 pm

Cracks me up that all the pundits slobber over Trump and call him “authentic” There is not a single thing “authentic” about him! He even stole his slogan from Reagan, but he’s authentic!! Lazy fucking MSM.

Trump not only gave Cruz a hard time for being born in Canada, but also claimed that Cruz ripped him off by using the line, “Make America Great Again.”

        He said:

“The line of ‘Make America great again,’ the phrase, that was mine, I came up with it about a year ago, and I kept using it, and everybody’s now using it, they are all loving it,” Trump said.

“I don’t know I guess I should copyright it, maybe I have copyrighted it.”

Donald Trump must never have heard of Google. Every campaign trail reporter has heard that line at least ten million times, in years prior to last year, from a depressingly large number of other politicians.

But let’s just start with the obvious: Ronald Reagan made “Make America Great Again” a backbone of his campaign. He and Bush even used it on a button:

We would all be better off if there was no MSM at this point. They are mute.

I remember seeing one lady being interviewed as she was going in to hear him speak (don’t remember where), but the reporter asked what did she think of Donald and she said “he’s saying what we are thinking”. She was then asked if she was going to vote for him and she shook her head and said “Noooooooo he’s too extreme to be in the White House”

So in my opinion, Donald is putting on a show for the public, they know it and he knows it. The only people who are clueless are the MSM.

I have some popcorn with extra butter just waiting for tomorrow evenings debate. It’s gonna be a hoot & a hollar

there was a blurb of a quote in star tribune a week or so ago and they both seemed a bit wishy washy. It was a surprise to me as they usually are pretty good defenders of the admin. I think they got spooked by the own shadows a bit on this one, but I think with a bit of pressure and time they will come around, IMO.

I think they will. But frankly, I won’t forget the wishy-washy anytime soon. Franken should be a voice of reason to stand up to AIPAC on this. And Klobuchar should just know better.

WASHINGTON — If the president saves his Iran deal from the critics trying to kill it in the United States Senate, it will be in large credit to one lawmaker.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) emerged this past week as the chief organizer, White House liaison and public cheerleader for the controversial agreement.

    • 92 Vicki
      August 5, 2015 at 5:07 pm

Donna, I have been discussing the same question since I heard of Schumer’s idiotic position on Iran Deal.
Durbin should be the next leader after Reid retires.
My guess is that this has a lot to do with DNC/Clinton preferences.

      • 93 donna dem 4 obama
        August 5, 2015 at 5:13 pm

I just don’t like him at all. I’ve felt this way even before his potential No vote on the Iran Deal. I can remember when we were trying to do a comprehensive immigration reform bill he went on TV and said that he was Okay with a piecemeal type deal. He makes me sick. I’m sorry but he doesn’t seem to represent me and my values. I’m going to try and figure out how to start a petition to have Durbin installed as the new leader next year.

        • 94 57andfemale
          August 5, 2015 at 5:37 pm

Schumer drives me nuts. When he has the mic he’s always wasting time, giving deference to Republicans. He’s happy to blame his party when it suits him. That is NOT acceptable in a Leader in the Senate. Not acceptable at all.

Vicki, Donna Dem, and 57 give some thought the Patty Murray of Washington state. She has been a strong supporter of our President and core democratic values.

If there is a fight, and unfortunately I don’t expect the Dems to fight like they should, seniority says Durbin, and he’d be good. I personally would prefer Murray, but Durbin is very good and it would be “his turn”. That being said, Dems don’t fight that way.
