        VC, thank you.
        Each day is a blessing to wake up. Sweet sleep is truly appreciated.
        NW is doing an excellent job! Ms. Chips is missed.
        Our President is definitely shooting three-pointers in the 4th quarter!
        Life is damn good. I am grateful to share it here.

            VC, (please don’t tell Ms. Chips) but I do like some of Billy Joel’s music.
            Someone had posted of the L.I.E. being name after him and wanted to know NYers opinion.
            I personally do not have to travel there unless going to the airport, Queens or Long Island.
            It is amazing how they go through all of this trouble to rename a landmark and most NYers don’t know or give a damn.
            In due time it rolls off your tongue effortlessly but as long as you get where you are going in a hurry it is no concern.
            All I know that they go too fast on the L.I.E. which I heard is the norm for California. Whew!
            (If you tell, I am going to deny it)

              😀 Like you I am not into this business of renaming places! Re the singer whose name shall not be mentioned – trust me, LDS, I won’t say a word to Ms. Chips! See, I happen to like some of his music too. He’s one of the few musicians whom, if you mention his name I can name you *one* of his songs. Also, too, I’m not sure I’m still talking to Ms Chips; she was *supposed* to call me before she left and I’m still sitting by the phone waiting!

                Danny Boy probably chewed on the phone before she left.
                Let’s give her the benefit of doubt that she was running late and forgot to pack something……
                You know how that goes. I do it every time.

                  I don’t know about benefit of the doubt, LDS; I was supposed to be the chauffeur for the trip! How can you forget the chauffeur??!!! Maybe I’ll have calmed down by the time they both return; time’ll tell.

      Thank you Mr. Bobfr.
      It is so good to know that we have a President who is concerned about every breath we take.
      No one has ever cared about the whole person and this is so unbelievable. Sometimes I feel like it’s a wonderful dream.
      I don’t even feel sad about his presidency coming to an end. It seems like to me he is setting us up for the next “Big Game”.
      He will be able o do more once he leave but as he leaves he is strategizing.
      If that means VP Biden is getting ready to step in…..
      Let’s Do This!

            Bad News.
            My local TV just had David Axelrod weighing in against a Biden run.
            David said something along the lines of Joe not wanting to end his career with an effort which was unlikely to succeed.

              August 3, 2015 at 7:23 pm

              Well…luckily this isn’t UP to David Axelrod. I’ll wait to hear it from VPBiden…like we all wait for POTUS to confirm or deny. Mr. Axelrod is simply making a guess…for all intents and purposes, he’s a pundit now. I’ll wait. If VPBiden says no, I’ll respect that and regroup…otherwise, they are all just postulating.

              The media is TRULY afraid of a Biden run – and they will start bringing out the naysayers as soon as they can. David Axelrod is not calling the shots. The voters are.

        • August 3, 2015 at 7:24 pm

          DF, I am speaking it into the atmosphere. Period.
          I strongly believe if you want to make something happen you have to see it. Believe it. Claim it.
          Who else can stand toe-to-toe with ( I can barely type the name)Donald Trump?
          Do you want reaL? Let’s get real.
          I think that VP Joe has watched and taken clear notes from POB and POB has taken good sound advice from VP Joe.
          It was and is a perfect match. They have complemented each other very well. A friendship based on loyalty love and respect.
          That whole clown car GOP is a “jinx”.
          If Georg Bush can become president twice and Ronald Reagan Hollywood style and money backers bring him to the WH, why the hell can’t Donald Trump? He knows a lot of dark secrets about a lot of people that and his money is powerful. J. Edgar Hoover played that card well. Donald Trump has nothing to lose….. not even his hair.
          Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if he shaved his head and start acting like Ko jack lollipop and all!
          He loves ALL of the attention.
          Susan Rice would make an excellent VP.
          Finally, we will be done with those Clintons forever!

      Excellent reply to this post:

      Li’l Piyush just crapped in his own mess kit.

      Federal regulations prohibit his action, since PP is an approved provider for
      Medicare, and no federally approved provider may be denied Medicare funding unless HHS rescinds PP’s status as an approved provider.

      But, of course, we all know that Republicans ignore any law, rule, or regulation that gets in the way of their sense of victimhood or their current poutrage.

      (I’m pretty sure he meant Medicaid not Medicare)

    My birthday is this week, but not excited about it at all. Thought I would be because I hit another birthday despite cancer. Friend says it’s just part of getting older. Meh, I guess.

    Jane Kirtley, professor of media ethics and law at the University of Minnesota’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, said in a email that she found the agreement “outrageous — on the part of the media organizations, that is. The organizers can ask for whatever they want and think they can get. I don’t like it, but it is up to the news organizations to draw the line and to refuse to attend under these circumstances.”
    As “the restrictions could stop journalists from reporting what’s right before their eyes,” she added, they reflect “a profound contempt for the role of an independent press, and by extension, the public.”
    “The idea that reporting something like a donor’s attendance would be forbidden unless the donor agrees sounds like the European right to privacy on steroids,” Kirtley quipped. “When I think back to how hard the news media fought to avoid restrictions on combat reporting, I really despair. At least in the case of combat reporting, there was a plausible argument that national security was at stake. What’s at stake here is press independence.”

    Funny how NBC/WSJ polls are trying to manipulate things…….if PP is at 45% and Pres Obama is at 44%, etc…….why not either list the results in a cascading fashion Up or Downward for easier consumption?

      This article smells like Libertarian propaganda. It’s chuck full of anti-government “Democrats-and-Republicans-are-all-the-same” ideology. The funny thing is that this study is using data from 1981-2002 so its most recent data point is over 12 years old!

      Now I bet you, none of these folks will want to do a study of who runs the media….

    I don’t know the identity of the African American lady in the video featured.

    I don’t know the circumstances that led to that confrontation;

    but I can say I know when a person (especially a male law enforcement officer) hits someone so hard on the head that it almost spins on it natural support system (the neck and its vertebrae);

    Please forgive me if I appear judgmental after watching just a few second clip but it seems to me that this is not the first time that policeman has hit a woman or someone much physically weaker;

    it is very hard to try and combat the bitterness that rises inside one’s gut and soul when one watches such videos;

    I need to find some soul music now otherwise I may still be too upset to fall asleep later tonight

    “Rouhani: ‘Merchants of sanctions’ upset by nuke deal

    In an interview Aug. 2 with Iranian television, President Hassan Rouhani sold the achievements of the nuclear deal between Iran and five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (P5+1). The interview with two journalists — a man and a woman — resembled a speech with long-winded answers to questions. However, the setting, and the camera angle placed between the two journalists to make it appear Rouhani was speaking directly to the camera, provided Rouhani an opportunity to promote the nuclear deal to Iranian families who are eagerly anticipating the economic benefits from the deal.

    Rouhani said the sanctions were so limiting that Iran was forced to pay extra amounts for banking transactions and the shipment of goods. As an example, he said, “If 100 billion [toman, or $34 million] worth of goods entered the country, whether it was essential goods or something else, 25 billion [toman, or $8.5 million] were wasted. This is from the pockets of the people.”

    He continued, “Of course, for the merchants of sanctions, there were a lot of profits for them. There were merchants of sanctions in Dubai, Europe, China, in Tehran; the merchants of sanctions were everywhere and they are upset by the agreement. But our people were paying a cost. We had to lift the sanctions so that the gates of the world were opened to the people. … If someone cannot enter through the door and they have to enter through the wall, there are dangers, but sometimes you are forced to. But the doors must be opened. One of the goals of the negotiations was to open the gates of the world to us.”

      You know Trump has some problems because he thinks everyone loves him. The Mexicans loves him even though he has called them scums of the earth. The blacks loves him because President Obama has not done anything for them. And common sense says that Trump hasn’t done a dam thing for blacks either, including give them jobs or rent apartments to them. But blacks will vote for him, because after all he’s Donald Trump.
