Loved PBO’s important speech to African leaders.

You can be sure this will have a lasting impact on many young people who live in Africa.

You can also be sure that PBO and Michelle will be back (many times) after Jan 20, 2017.

    Now for some levity:

Is the President now on his way home? No doubt will have to kick congress into action – nothing seems to get done without him.

  45. 63 globalcitizenlinda
    July 28, 2015 at 8:02 am

I suspect that the majority of the African media (and members of the opposition parties in various nations in Africa) will focus a lot on what PBO said to the leaders who change their nation’s constitutions and refuse to leave power.

PBO said some thing very crucial to these dictators who usually give the ridiculous excuse that “there is no one else who can hold their nation together other than them so this is why they need to stay in power.

In answer to this garbage claim, PBO said that if a leader says this then it means that he/she has failed to train other leaders and build the necessary institutions. such a claim is a sign of failure of this leader rather than a badge of honor

    • 64 hopefruit2
      July 28, 2015 at 8:09 am

PBO was also speaking indirectly to certain US pols who seem unable to understand when their time is up. I’m looking at some relics in congress for example who accomplish NOTHING of significance after serving more than 4-8 terms in office, as well as some others who are always running for “President” not realizing that 2015 is not the ’90s.

  46. 65 jackiegrumbacher
    July 28, 2015 at 8:04 am

Chips, so glad you got up early to present this wonderful speech. I am so proud of our President who is absolutely fearless in confronting truths wherever he goes, but who also brings compassion, warmth and humanity to every country he visits. There will never be another president like him and we will all be bereft in January, 2017. Although PBO himself will not be able to run again, I know he will devote every effort in his considerable power and all of his vast expertise in campaigning to ensuring that his successor carries on his legacy.

G’morning Chips & TOD! Even amk. Happy Tuesday everyone. 🙂

So CNN has now manufactured a poll claiming that 52% want congress to reject the Iran deal. Hey CNN, we’ve seen this movie before – you poll a bunch of Republicans and conservative “Indies/Dems” and then push your propaganda. It WON’T work this time.

The feckless media is harping on POTUS saying “If I ran again I could win.” That’s all they got from an otherwise comprehensive and excellent speech to the African Union.

    • 72 pkayden
      July 28, 2015 at 9:10 am

They’re mad because they know it’s true. If President Obama ran again, he’d win in a landslide like the first two times. The media knows that despite all they’ve done to help Republicans obstruct him, he’s still beloved by a majority of voters. They’re powerless when it comes to POTUS.

Interesting article from TPM (I apologize if this has been posted on TOD ealier, since it was published yesterday morning).

    HEADLINE: Who’s The Greatest?

// I find this sort of fascinating. We surveyed 1800 TPM Readers to find out who they thought was the “greatest president” out of the last five Democratic presidents: Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and Obama.

Probably not surprisingly the overwhelming choice was Barack Obama at 49%. As I wrote a few days ago, we’re beginning to see the full scope and consequence of Obama’s presidency. And there’s some big advantage of just being the current officeholder with familiarity, intensity of current partisan affiliation and so forth. But what got me was the rest of the field. Here are the numbers.

    Obama 49% Johnson 18% Kennedy 15% Clinton 12% Carter 6% //

Anthony Geary Leaves General Hospital: Say Goodbye With Luke Spencer’s 6 Most Memorable Moments

Soap fans, grab extra tissues! July 27 marked the final appearance of Anthony Geary as Luke Spencer on General Hospital. The actor, 68, debuted on the show way back on Nov. 20, 1978 as wicked Bobbie’s bad boy big brother. Originally, Luke was set to be killed off, but reaction to Geary’s portrayal was so strong the character was given a reprieve!

He’s [Trump] winning because the Republican media and Republican leadership made a conscious decision to marinate the brains of their electorate in Stupid Sauce. And the secret ingredient in Stupid Sauce is hatred.
