Really hope this comment is liberated soon. Want to be sure all of you see Cruz doing a Jeff Davis on McConnell and the ‘establishment’ GOP!! He’ll make a fine VP candidate on the Trump 2016 (GOP or Independent) ticket!
I wonder what the consequences of this tirade will be for Cruz. He’s shown without any doubt that he can’t function in the give and take of the Senate. He’s a spoiled little boy who will have his way or throw a very public tantrum. He’s also shown that he’s completely unfit for leadership of any kind. If the Republicans had any coherence as a party or an ounce of foresight, they would quietly work to undermine this volatile creature at every turn. There are ways to do this and a smart leader, which McConnell probably is not, could exact slow and tortuous revenge. If Cruz is allowed to get away with this, a very bad precedent has been set within the GOP caucus. It would be fun to spend the next year watching R senators fight each other, especially if they try to outdo each other in nastiness.
my concern about is that this represents a continued breakdown in the chamber of the Senate….McConnell himself led the team in 2009 in which the official policy of the GOP was Obstruction and malfunction…..
this latest mishap in Senate only creates disgust among the citizenry…esp when you have the press touting every distortion that they can without telling it like it really is…
a disgusted citizenry is a cynical citizenry that begins to believe that it is not worth voting or being involved….to me this is the greatest danger of a Trump….and his cohorts of extremism… and not too inspiring candidates on the DEM side….
I share your concerns, pf58, however, for me we are steadily moving toward a major inflection in American politics and I’m more and more encouraged by millennials, as well as, broader demographics of the awareness that their participation in the outcome is essential.
McCain v Obama and Romney v Obama represented campaigns of considerable differences in values and perspectives, for sure.
But, a campaign of Trump v Biden or even Trump v HRC would be so stark and totally motivating for the ~ 70 % of Americans who are not certifiably nuts —> to participate in landslide removal of GOP from the House, the Senate, and lots of State Governments, as well as protecting the WH.
And, if the GOP candidate to emerge from their primary is not Trump, whomever it is will have managed to be even more alienating and vile in the eyes of that ~ 70 %, plus, Trump will run as an Independent and wreck the GOP to an extent it likely, even on the State level, will not survive.
2016 will be seismic, we’re already experiencing considerable tremors ….

but i do not have much faith in the Dems ….esp after they did not vote in 2014….
The starkest contrast in any election, including 1860 and 1864, is on the 2016 horizon, pf58. We’ll see if most Americans don’t get it. Not all that long to wait, for sure.

I am awed by the TOD coverage of POTUS in Kenya and now Ethiopia. He is loved wherever he goes.
On Bob’s, jackieg’s and prettyfoot’s discussion about Cruz and the GOP implosion, I am closest to pf’s take.
I see the GOP’s goal since January, 2009, as one of total destruction of our government and in a way, our country.
PBO was the most obvious target but if you take into account All the evidence—random comments demeaning the Supreme Court, for example, it is not hard to see that this is about more than winning the WH.
