Hello, Ouapiti. Reading your comment I wondered for the first time if the Obamas ever take their own private family pictures since arriving at WH.

Love the photo, Chips, although it makes me a little weepy to see how young, fresh and full of hope our First Family was in those days.
They could not imagine the toll the presidency would take on them.
Morning Jackie! The thing though is that despite everything the family has been through since PBO became President, they still look so happy and joyful when we see them together, I don’t think anything can knock them down, they keep on keeping on.
Which is a great role model for the rest of us mere mortals.
Thank you, Forus. The injunction to “open your eyes” is a critical one. Too often people look away because they can’t endure the implications of what they’re seeing. The important thing to remember is that Sandra Bland isn’t “the other.” She’s every human being who finds him or herself in circumstances that escalate beyond their control. The agony Sandra’s family must feel seeing this photo has to be almost unbearable.
Jaysus, that’s a scary analysis! Even with all the evidence that some cops & PD departments are ‘evil’, it would be hard for me to accept that they’d do all this to protect *one* cop’s villainy. In fact, it would seem to me that one cop couldn’t do all this on his own.
Quite frankly, I would add “racist” to the second panel. I have no reason to believe that cop would have treated a young, White female in the same hostile and violent manner.

I don’t have the link (didn’t save it as I only got 70% in an area in which I
havehad supreme confidence) but one of these days you should try the spelling bee one. It was very, very long but ‘neat’ because it was in part challenging. Consisted of ALL the winning words from past Spelling Bees, and came with a pronunciation link for each. I only used that link when I totally didn’t know the word; for some unknowns I figured out the spelling from clues in the definition given. As I said, it was neat, and enjoyable, I found.spelling bee???? you’re kidding, right?

I’m far away. It’s not an over-populated area but they are beginning evacuations today.
The fire was started by a car crash. A lot of these hill areas are very, very dry.

Austria is cracking down on personalised number plates used by neo-Nazis, by banning lesser-known codes with hidden far-right symbolism.
Letter combinations such as HJ or NS – denoting Hitler Youth and National Socialism – have long been prohibited on personalised plates in Austria.
Now transport officials have published a list of more than 30 more cryptic codes that have been banned.
They include number combinations such as 88, which represents “Heil Hitler”.
New legislation, which came into force on Thursday, also outlaws the use of IS or ISIS on personalised number plates in a bid to stop people showing their support for the Islamic State group.
