I’ve mentioned before that I’m skeptical by nature and don’t like to leap to conclusions, but since the death of Eric Garner, these are two beliefs I have until proven wrong.
1) KKK actively assisted Ferguson PD in learning how to assemble Molotov cocktails and the like during the police siege last summer.
2) Sandra Bland’s death may be even more insidious than Walter Scott’s. He was shot in the back by a police officer, which is murder during the heat of passion, but I think it’s likely that Sandra’s death was premeditated after the trooper was humiliated by Sandra Bland.
Who really knows, Arapaho? I’m uneasy and, if you want to know the truth, ‘scared’. Honestly, at the moment I cannot think of anywhere in the States that I would feel comfortable visiting. I keep thinking that with the number of publicized cases of suspicious death by police the officers would be more cautious in these confrontations but it seems like there is a new case weekly, if not daily.
Of course it’s just a hunch on my part — and my hunches are rarely right — but IMO the trooper panicked, realizing that what he did was wrong, and he didn’t want any witnesses (outside of domestic disputes, the primary reason for the murder of strangers).
O, I’m not discounting your feelings, Arapaho. In all of these cases though, I’m trying not to speculate – being murdered, or dying, because you made an error in the eyes of the police is too much for me to make sense of, especially when it happens so frequently. Don’t officers know what’s been going on across the country with all these public and inexplicable deaths? Don’t they know they are under greater scrutiny and do they simply not care?
Don’t mind me; I’ve been so gobsmacked (from the Mike Brown case and the shocking final verdict) that I rarely join in the discussion anymore when another case surfaces. A worry I have in these cases is how much time the police department have to doctor the evidence. Even if cases eventually get to federal investigations, I believe much tampering and fixing go on before the Feds arrive. As far as I’m concerned this happened in the Mike Brown case where that police officer was hidden for so long he could have done a world tour for all we know. IMO social media in its outrage points out areas of concern and the PD in question prepares rationalizations and explanations.
For example, today’s arguments pointed out the glitches in the uploaded video, highlighting specific looped areas, and the PD later uploads a newer shorter version. I haven’t looked at the ‘new’ tape but I’d bet the loops etc are no longer in evidence! We talk about the discrepancy in the medical health form, get no immediate answer, but will no doubt get a reasonable explanation down the road .By the time the case gets to an outside review there might even be a conveniently discovered video of Sandra tying the garbage bag around her own neck, and a suicide note which had been overlooked in the bottom of the garbage bin found in the cell (where she had conveniently dropped it after taking out the garbage bag)!!

They already doctored the dash cam…I’m sure the same goes for the supposed jail video (which according to reports, the portion released was only 8 minutes long) …some law officer on T.V. today said that they are only triggered by motion sensors to save date storage, but I’m not buying it. Finally…the jail cell was contaminated from the get go…they added a ‘new’ trash bag & today some reporter said there was now a bible in there. I have no faith in what is going on down there.

Why can’t police departments see the harm they are doing to the public trust? Do they need to have it nailed to their forehead?
