Breathing more easily after watching a short piece of the documentary Lib_L shared. I find I cannot watch these in their entirety these days because somehow looking at man’s inhumanity to man causes so much more pain than before.

The fact that Blacks were treated(and sometimes still are) as no one would treat their animals is extremely hard to swallow.

NW – I came here grossly annoyed by two minutes of watching Babyface Tapper (who’s blocked me on Twitter – Ha), but then I saw your “flapping his gums” header ~ and now everything’s back on track for me. I might do popcorn.

    • July 22, 2015 at 4:40 pm

I saw that Menendez were going to talk to Tapper and I got my remote and turn to Dr. Phil. I did not want to see Menendez or hear a word he had to say, we know he do not like President Obama.

I think Chris Matthews reported yesterday that Menendez’s Defense fund is paid for by Jewish Lobbyists. Also giving him money is Hillary’s cash cow friend. I think his name is Saban or something similar Chris says that is why Menendez is against the Iran Deal.

Haim Saban. Second only to Sheldon Adelson as far as Israel’s and RW warmongering intruding on our political system. Saban is as ugly as Adelson, just not as well-known.

The media is all giddy over the Quinnipiac poll that shows Hillary ” sliding ” down.

Quinnipiac did not even break the top 30 in polling accuracy in 2012.

First they say polling means nothing this early and then they get all giddy over the results that ” don’t matter ” Do they ever listen to themselves ?

    • July 22, 2015 at 4:42 pm

The wacko media is the one who ordain Hillary Clinton, like they did in 2008.

      July 22, 2015 at 4:57 pm

Quinnipiac is not as reliable poll Firm.
They are always coming up with numbers, especially, whenever GOPers are having problems within themselves, there is always a Poll Firm eager to spout numbers to either deny Dems any Joy or to deny POTUS Favorable numbers.
The MSM have Glee in their coverage of Dems with loads of Negative Over-load in order to diminish, demean and demoralize the Dem Base.

Wonderful blog post, Thank you, Nerdy.
I liked the graphic posted earlier from a GOP CBO bigshot saying that Obamacare lowered the deficit and will extend coverage to another 19 million folks. It would work well as part of this front page.

This is what? Bernie??? modest? Not to me or the 30 million people now being served under the ACA.

      July 22, 2015 at 5:02 pm

No longer being able to be denied healthcare due to a pre-existing condition is not a “modest” improvement. Neither is free preventative care. Lucky for Bernie he has accomplished NOTHING, so he has never had to compromise. His “purity” is intact. I had the misfortune of having a conversation with some of these folks. They refuse to give PBO credit for anything. Either PBO did not do enough, or it was done too late. One dude said PBO is one of the 5 worst presidents, citing drones and Guantanamo. He then went on to say Sanders would be a great president. Clueless does not begin to describe many of these folks. There is something beyond policy disagreements that is fomenting this tantrum by the privileged left. Other than faux outrage and disappointment with PBO, legalization of marijuana seems to be the issue dearest to their heart. Barney Frank is correct that they are getting some kind of psychic payoff by rallying around Sanders.

The GOP first primary is in 2 weeks.
I haven’t heard anything about a Dem primary. Has anyone heard anything?

      Primary in 2 weeks?
I don’t think so. It is more like a so called Debate, hosted and moderated by Fox in OH in August.
I saw DW-S a couple of weeks ago and she was asked about the Dems Debate and she said that Dates and Times would be announced soon along with criteria and the moderators and sponsors of the Dem Debates.

      You mean the debates?

The Repubs is August 9th in Cleveland, Oh and the Dems will have one in either late August or early September in Iowa the date has not been determined yet.

I have been having a back and forth with Bernie’s followers on twitter. They honestly don’t get it! Sanders becomes President and all his wonderful policies will just get implemented. I even heard Thom Hartman say on his radio show that Bernie would just use more executive orders to implement policies. Now as smart a guy as I know Thom really is his brain is completely clouded by Bernie dust because he knows full well who controls the purse strings in government. I swear I think they have all lost their minds!!!

    • July 22, 2015 at 5:04 pm

As if PBO hasn’t exhausted every avenue for EOs. The Bernie Sanders movement just strikes me as all those people who have been “disappointed” by PBO since Day One.

    • July 22, 2015 at 7:38 pm

i think that they believe that the reason “more” things were not done because somehow the President was not an good leader and compromised too much…they think that somehow..Congress will be different for the white guy…who is a real leader…

    // ……………………………

Balancing the demands of politicians on Capitol Hill, criminal justice reform activists and working prosecutors is a pretty tall task. In terms of what she brings to the job, McMorris-Santoro provides this summary of her [Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates] previous work:

“During her career first as a deputy prosecutor and later as the first woman U.S. Attorney running the district based in Atlanta, Yates racked up big victories. She helped put the Atlanta Olympic Park bomber, Eric Rudolph, away for four consecutive life sentences and led prosecutions on a nearly a dozen Atlanta officials on corruption charges in the mid-2000s, including Democratic mayor Bill Campbell. She led the successful prosecution of three Atlanta cops who killed 92 year-old Kathryn Johnson, who was black, in a so-called “no-knock” drug raid that mistakenly targeted her home. Basically, if you can imagine a prosecutor prosecuting it, Yates has done it.”

Here’s how she sums up her commitment to this task:

For Yates, the movement is a personal one.

“At the risk of sounding really corny now, I’m a career prosecutor. I’ve been doing this for a very long time. And I believe in holding people responsible when they violate the law,” she said. “But our sole responsibility is to seek justice. And sometimes that means a very lengthy sentence, for people who are dangerous and from which society must be protected. But it always means seeking a proportional sentence. And that’s what this sentencing reform is really about.”

The officer that arrested Sandra Bland had just come from a stop of a car going 10 miles over the speed limit. That guy got a warning after some chit chat as to which classes he was taking at the nearby college.

Sandra didn’t use a turn signal and ended up dead.

The cop did a u turn and chased after her at high speed causing her to move over to let him pass no other car so she didn’t signal. She had not done anything when he started chasing her. He was looking for a confrontation: Black woman with out-of-state plates.

Watching SoS Kerry and SoE Moniz, along with SoVA McDonald yesterday, I was struck by the incredible degree of competency in the vast majority of PBO’s appointments. I suspect AG Holder will go down as one of the most influential AGs in history, the work done by the EPA has been phenomenal, and FEMA just keeps chugging along through one disaster after another with very few complaints. In one of the articles last week when PBO was in OK, it was noted just how much help the federal government got through to the residents of Moore after the horrific tornado last year. While there have been a few slips here and there, most notably General Shinseki and the head of the Secret Service, for the most part his crew has been amazing. And most notably he has had the right people in the right place at the right time. I suspect he specifically selected Sec Moniz for his nuclear expertise with an eye towards Iran. Articles do mention occasionally the lack of scandal in this administration but I am impressed with the level of competence. Without these individuals, PBO would not have been in a position to accomplish the long term change that we’ve seen. I do not recall any administration in my lifetime with this level of expertise. And they said he had no management or administrative experience. Sometimes, a high intellect makes up for a lot:-)

Ff, I have been struck for a long while now by the ‘incredible degree of competency in PBO’s appointments’, and how hard they work at their jobs. It’s one of the reasons I got involved sharing the weekly recap of what’s happening in the Dept of Interior. The work ethic of the members of this Admin is in direct contrast with what I’ve seen the GOPs (not) doing!

It’s funny, the second there is any screw up at all, it immediately warrants media attention. But the day in and day out work just keeps on going. And then all of a sudden we get a new policy announcement, a new set of regs, etc. The ego of any president has to be enormous simply to do the job, but PBO is not threatened by competence or anyone who might be smarter–at least in their area–than he is. I think this is the biggest failing of so many presidents, they simply always have to believe they know more than anyone else. PBO may end up with an incredible level of knowledge, but he values the expertise of others and what they can teach him. I think this was absolutely critical to the success of the Iran negotiations. By the end, he was totally comfortable with his “red lines” because of the knowledge he had gained and the assurances of those around him. It is in large part what makes him so very successful.

SS and DHS Sec Jeh Johnson must find out who all was involved and re-assign those AF personnel who were directly and indirectly involved in the breach. I have zero tolerance for any mist-steps regarding PBO and JB’s security. ZERO!!!

How the hell was there a security breach? Come on Kenya.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • 54 CBO
        July 22, 2015 at 6:17 pm

The security breach was on the US side.

His arrival time (which is normally kept top secret) was inadvertently leaked or released, – however you might phrase it – by a US Air force personnel (they fly Air Force One).

Kenya had nothing to do with that (ostensibly because they don’t and wouldn’t know)

The briefing on the Iran Deal is still going on……The vote for the Transportation bill is delayed…..( I can’t believe Barbara Boxed signed on to that horrible bill that guts SS and SS disability.) I bet she never had to worry where her next meal or housing was coming from.

Grrrr. I hope the other Dems block it.

It seems like the more successful PBO and his policies turn out to be the more Bernie Sanders attempts to minimize his accomplishments and the more dude bros. join his bandwagon. Since PBO cannot run in 2016 and Sanders is seeking the Dem nomination, his antagonism toward PBO makes no sense, unless animosity toward PBO is the thing uniting his supporters.

    • 59 Sandy1110
      July 22, 2015 at 5:58 pm

I think that’s exactly it. Bern supporters are the emos who’ve had the ax to grind against PBO from day 1 – he doesn’t like us, he doesn’t listen to us, he WASTED HIS SINGLE-PAYER OPPORTUNITY, not enough, not enough!!!

      That’s them.

    • July 22, 2015 at 6:01 pm

Instead of seeking to continue what PBO has accomplished/started, it seems that Bernie Sanders — and others — believe that they have to show that they are/will be better than President Obama. The only way they can give the perception of being better is to downplay PBO’s accomplishments and refuse to admit that the character, skill, and ability are above all others. President Obama has set a bar that few if any will be capable of surpassing.

Very gratifying to see these 2 together. Mayor Garcetti was one of the earliest PBO supporters. Bill Clinton worked very hard for a Dem named Wendy Gruel,or something, who tried to keep Eric Garcetti from being the Mayor of LA but, as with the Vast Majority of candidates Bill Clinton supported against PBO supporters—-Well, you know the rest.

Same result if VP Biden joins the 2016 race.

  20. July 22, 2015 at 5:19 pm

The far left is always captive of its own ideological fancy. It is sheer fancy to think a 74 year old independent socialist from Vermont, with zero support from minorities or centrists in the Dem Party, is going to win either the nomination or the presidency, just because he makes angry speeches about banks.

  21. July 22, 2015 at 5:20 pm

I’ve never hear May Garcetti speak before but, wow, is he impressive! And his Spanish is quite good. Do our TODer Los Angelenos agree?
