President Obama: A Champion For Women

Laura Bassett: White House Finds Way Around Hobby Lobby Birth Control Decision

The Obama administration on Friday issued its final rules for employers who morally object to covering birth control in their health insurance plans. The accommodation ensures that all employed women, unless they work for a place of worship, will still have their birth control covered at no cost to them, even if their employers refuse to cover it. Under the new rule, a closely held for-profit company that objects to covering contraception in its health plan can write a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services stating its objection.

HHS will then notify a third-party insurer of the company’s objection, and the insurer will provide birth control coverage to the company’s female employees at no additional cost to the company. “Women across the country should have access to preventive services, including contraception,” HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell said in a statement. “At the same time, we recognize the deeply held views on these issues, and we are committed to securing women’s access to important preventive services at no additional cost under the Affordable Care Act, while respecting religious beliefs.”

Hey Ice-cream buddy! I guess you won’t come out in the rain without a umbrella. That rain was unbelievable yesterday. We had thunder, rain, high winds, floods than muggy warm air all night and now today. The air is so thick it’s unbearable.

I just hope the Democrats don’t through women under the bus by allowing the Rethugs to make BC available over-the-counter and not included in medication still paid or reimbursed by insurance companies. I don’t know what that does to Medicaid patients though.

OMG! How scary smart is PBO???!!!!!

kid kanga – that article makes me see RED! Don’t these people understand that he has a Country to run – or don’t they care. Students at the university where he planted a tree is threatening to chop it down if he doesn’t visit them. Unphuckingbelieveable!

      July 20, 2015 at 3:23 pm

GG, that tells you all about how immature those people are. I know many around the world felt that POTUS’ elections were their own. I get that. But they should come back to the real world and listen when PBO says again and again that his first priority is to his country. Not to the country of his father and forefathers, or to the country of his siblings.

Of course, we people want to hear and think what we want to.

      July 20, 2015 at 3:56 pm

GGail, if that is true, then it really stinks that they have that expectation when no such thing was ever promised. However, I think we should take this Reuters article and it’s claims with the appropriate amount of salt.

First of all what exactly does the author mean by “many Africans?” Did they do a scientific poll/survey of people’s views?

Seems like this article is written by a gossipmonger looking to stir up something in the wake of our President’s visit to Kenya. Also, it reinforces unhealthy stereotypes of (Black) African people as lazy and looking for hand-outs. Just two years ago, during another one of POTUS’ visits to several countries on that continent, our very own Zizi posted an entire thread on the current economic, political and social development in various African countries – and she comprehensively detailed why it was in US’ best interest to visit those countries and forge economic and educational ties with the young people. They were NOT looking for handouts. Like other countries, they are looking to collaboratively expand their economies and provide increased opportunities for their citizens and foreign investors.

Hey HF, as part of a contingent looking to do infrastructure within Nigeria, I hope the story is just conjecture by Reuters, however, I will not rule out that there are probably some who do feel that way. Why should they be any different than Americans who feel he hasn’t done enough for them?

good points HF2, this one skipped past my MSM “news” filter. likely just more wishful thinking or concern trolling than any actual “news”.

      July 20, 2015 at 4:30 pm

The article states all the money China has invested on infrastructure in Africa. Hell the Republicans won’t even agree to provide money for infrastructure here at home. The media makes me sick. They should have pointed out that little fact.

      • 32 GGail
        July 20, 2015 at 6:46 pm

And that is not Reuters, that is a fact – China has been pouring money in to Africa so they can bring their people into Africa to get the best paid positions on the projects and barely train the locals. Plus their a whole lot of oil that Shell Corporation is taking advantage of and the infrastructure is needed for the trucks hauling and housing.

‘they do not see a comparison as apt’ = they don’t want you to see it as apt.

like everyone else here, i’m enjoying president obama’s 4th quarter tremendously, while hating that the ‘game’ will actually end. and the msm’s declaration that pbo is a lame duck, and the big story is his replacement, has infuriated me no end. i deny their premise, but i am enjoying the clown show.

It is getting harder to maintain the façade of PBO’s “failure” in light of all the major developments that prove otherwise. Folks who believed the media’s narrative are shocked by PBO’s successes and vindication, same as Fox viewers were shocked by PBO’s reelection.

Scott Walker is promising war with Iran.
    Jeb! is promising cutting spending.
They are same message in different formats.
Cut domestic spending to the 99%. Direct all money to the already stinking rich and entirely corrupt warmongers and hawks.

This is the RW and Neo-con and DLC AIPAC platform. Delivered to you in the party flavor you prefer. Mostly (R) but plenty of (D) as well.

I prefer the opposite message which PBO and VPBiden and SOS Kerry have been delivering.
    Peace. Promoting the general welfare.

Winding down the Private Prison Corporations by eliminating their profit generators A/K/A non-violent drug offenders. People sentenced harshly and unfairly are the way that the private prisons plunder the poor for their profits.
Some of our biggest corps are up to their necks in this disgrace. Good to see it ending. Or slowing down. Not just talk. PBO has been acting!!!!

There is so much to love about The Obama Administration that words now fail me.
