Amazing how far these parties have come. Remember that very first handshake at the UN between SoS Kerry and Zarif? It was a VERY big deal! From there to here……mind boggling.

The next few years in the ME will be so very interesting. While Saudi Arabia and the Sunni world overall are not happy about this deal, at least Iran will actually do something to help counter Daesh. It is just such a mess, need the Sunnis to step up but they seem absolutely unwilling to do so. More terrorists come out of Saudi Arabia than anywhere else, much less their financing. I love it when the Rs and Bibi scream about Iran but are willing to overlook even worse abuses in Saudi Arabia.

    I now understand WHY PBO chooses to conduct the negotiations/drafting of most serious policy changes with as little leaking as possible – until he is ready to announce something concrete;

    there are number of people in Vienna who seem to spend most of their time contacting the media and leaking stuff that is yet to conclude – the extent of progress gets confusing;

By the way, it seems FM Zarif’s favorite spot is the Corburg Palace is “the balcony”

One of the most important things to come out of these long, long negotiations is the benefit of having a relationship with Iran. All these many years that everything had to go through the Swiss for any communication whatsoever have not accomplished much. The relationship between Zarif and Kerry will not end here, both will be heroes at home, and you can bet they are on each others’ speed dials. That alone is just an incredible change. And as we have seen from past photos, there seems to be a genuine positive relationship.

OK, has everyone had enough of my stream of consciousness??????? As you can tell, this has been at the top of my “want” list for a very long time!

Thanks guys for putting up with me. A big part of this is guilt for me. Like so many, got busy with career, kids, sick parents, etc and did not pay enough attention during those awful Bush years. Voting was about all I managed. The first time I saw the torture photos I sat at my computer and cried that the US was responsible for these abuses. I have Kurdish friends and Jewish friends, and it has been difficult walking the line. I am probably the only person outside of these friends who believe that Iran has every reason not to trust the US given our history. From my perspective, the SL actually is more reasonable than the Rs that PBO has to deal with. So yes, this matters to me tremendously. I just hope that like with Cuba, this is happening with enough of PBO’s presidency remaining that things will be pretty well cemented and difficult to change once he leaves office.

Indeed, vc. Great Sec. of Interior. POB’s Administration has raised the bar in all things. We will keep his back as he continue to make great progress with this wonderful administration that he has put together.

Thanks Bobfr for keeping us up to date on the Iran progress.

So Chips, at what time are you going to bed tonight, and what is your estimated wake-up time tomorrow? [Asking for a friend who would like to catch the news live and knows (past being prologue at TOD) that when it *breaks* depends on whether you are sleeping or not.]

  19. July 12, 2015 at 3:11 pm

Anybody watch UFC 189 McGregor vs. Mendes last night? Conor Mcgregor had Sinead O’conner sing ‘Foggy Dew’ as his intro music.

That was the best fight card I’ve ever witnessed in either MMA or Boxing. It was truly epic!

I can’t imagine what it would be like in Ireland right now….or when Conor returns home…it will be something else.

It is so wonderful that we will have made peace with Iran. or at least a good start on the road.
Who else remembers Senator Obama’s campaign promise made at a debate, to engage in talks with Iran “without pre-conditions?” And the stir that created?
PBO was right then and I believed him. I bet most of TOD did too.

Taxpayers from each of the countries! For sure I will always gladly pay taxes for the best hotels and best food for these peacemakers than for the wars that kill and maim our own and others sons and daughters.

    I am besides myself happy.
Obamacare? according to the media (including Lawrence O’D) DOA. NOT!!!!!!
TPP? Bad for working people. No. No. No. wait and see.
Nobody’s feeling the so-called Obama recovery? Ask the 13 Million people with new jobs and the 30 Million newly covered with health care. security.
Obama’s weak on foreign policy? Uh, what??? Wars ending. SOS John Kerry on his way to Cuba to open an American Embassy in Havana.
Rouhani is declaring his campaign promises have been fulfilled. Our president hasn’t said much—-Yet.

One of our favorite tweeters has been in despair about PBO’s message team. For years now. I held my tongue, although I vehemently disagreed.

I think the Message team is 100% astonishing.
They understood what we have in Our President.
They understood that rope-a-dope has been brought to a new level in this administration.
A Chesty, triumphant braggart (GWB) wouldn’t have worked with a Black President. They knew to hang back and if the idiotic DNC lost in 2014, so be it. He couldn’t fight every battle.
So the ones that matter the most were chosen.

    So, here we are now.
    It could not be sweeter.

RidenwithBiden—–nothing and no one else will do. With Our Team all the way. 8 more years.

They don’t really BELIEVE the propaganda they spew. It is noise designed to put a negative spin on whatever PBO accomplishes. The “idiots” they hope never learn are the American people.

Jackie, Joe has said that PBO (and Himself, of course) have some big things to finish before he makes his decision. I take him at his word.

First Lady Michelle Obama and her two daughters brought their dancing shoes to the Saturday matinee of the hit Broadway show “Kinky Boots.”

The First Family, despite the efforts of Secret Service agents to get them to leave, danced and clapped in the aisles after the curtain fell at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, tweeted playwright Harvey Fierstein.

So all those patriotic displays honoring veterans before football games? Yeah if fans only knew that most of the NFL teams charge the Defense Dept (i.e. taxpayers) millions under the guise of appearing to selflessly honor veterans. Sickening. I don’t know if the same holds true for other pro sports in the US.

I think it goes even deeper than that. This is all part * parcel to bring this country down with the help of Goldman Sachs manipulating the information to even get Greece in the UE. This is all to keep the Greeks poor. They tried to do that to the US and it kind of backfired with the election of President Obama. Thenext few years are going to be something to behold. Thanks for all the updates Chips, bobfr, Foxfire. I am really one that doesn’t make too many comments, I usually read everything and just wait for it all to fall into place. I Trust President Obama and S.O.S. John Kerry.

Good to see the “experts” are realizing that an Iran nuke deal will allow the U.S. to pivot from the middle east to the pacific. TPP is designed to continue and accelerate the pivot as is PBO weaning this country from Middle East oil. I guess folks are not used to dealing with a President who says what he means and means what he says, because PBO has made no secret of his intention to make this pivot. Freedom from the Middle East will allow the U.S. to act in its own interest and avoid the blowback that accompanies having to back whatever evil Israel’s leadership decides to unleash on its neighbors. PBO’s is definitely one of the most consequential presidents this country has ever had. All the haters and propagandists who spoke so boldly of the end of his presidency A YEAR AGO look more small and foolish every day. While the haters spewed negativity, PBO and his team worked to make his vision a reality. We can all learn from PBO’s example and apply it to our everyday lives. PBO is not merely a president, he is a leader for the ages.
