I am going to repeat the comment i posted at the end of the previous thread.
The important thing about BS is the enthusiasm he is generating.
If we can find a way to harness that for a worthy candidate we will keep the WH in 2016.

If instead we engage in a lesser of 2 evils conversation we have already lost.

      GM Vicki,

You make a valid point. One of my biggest concerns going into this election cycle was that all the excitement was going to be on the Republican side if for no other reason then because there was so many of them. The press was already coronating Hillary so things looked bleak to me. As a die-hard Dem I like seeing people excited for a candidate on our side. My issue is that if you listen to Bernie speak at his rallies you understand that he really is a socialist independent. He is not a Democrat. Therefore, the things that he talks about sound great in principle but you quickly understand that he’s marginalizing Hillary’s policies and to some extent PBO’s. Therefore he feels quite comfortable talking about what he sees as the “real unemployment rate”. He doesn’t even consider the Democrats position on that type of rhetoric. The crowds are giving him more confidence to show his socialist heart so I expect more of this intended or not.

My hope is that he gets all those “excited” followers volunteering and registered to vote during the primary season so that they become GE voters in 2016. I don’t see him winning a GE because the Republicans will tear him apart with ads talking about his “socialist” views. They’ll be comparing him to Russia and China and scaring the bejeezus out of people in that election.

I hear you about the “lesser of two evils” because any Dem is head and shoulders above any Republican so I cannot even put them in the “evil” category. I have never had any issue casting my vote for any Democrat.

        I couldn’t agree more, Donna.
Enthusiasm for any candidate that is Not GOP may generate voter registration which HRC cannot do. See 2010 and 2014. Distaste and distancing equal Democratic losses.

The GOP used excitement to get their people to the polls this very successfully, with some of the worst candidates imaginable.

Lambasting BS and/or HRC is a guaranteed way to sink our ship.

the goppers can handle dozen plus idjits and the dems cannot handle more than 2?

that’s a poor reading of the dem voters. I disagree.

I try to follow their campaigns so that I am not just getting snippets of speeches with comments taken out of content. I won’t tolerate any outright disrespect to PBO or his Presidency. I find it interesting because I’m learning that with Hillary she understands where the votes are and she panders to that base. With Bernie, he is trying to create a broader base of voters but doesn’t really have much interest other than lip service for minorities and he really doesn’t give a thought to what the Dems think or feel about how he is running his campaign.

Agree Vicki, while I do not listen to him, despite my emoprog bro sending me BS magazine articles, and I surely do not see him in the WH, that he is running as a Dem, and people are listening, this early in the game, can be a good thing. Herself needs to be aware she is not the only candidate, and none of it will amount to much definition until the primary, but he is game to keep people on alert, if they are paying attention. Maybe in his heart he knows he could never win, but he is going for it anyway, just to stir things up. If the GOP are quoting him, perhaps he’s playing that card too. And if that doesn’t scare the sh*t out of the leftisbest mob, they really, truly don’t care, they just like to weep and moan.

“The important thing about BS is the enthusiasm he is generating”

Every time I see BS I think Bull Sh*t. lol how appropriate.

I am not in the least convinced of any “enthusiasm”. When I ask folks about Bernie Sanders the response is usually….. who?
My sense is no one is paying attention to the Dem field at this point. Nothing to pay attention to. I think we will see more dems joining the race late Aug/Sept time frame. Plenty of time.

As it stands, I believe the Sanders thing is media driven to gin up a horse race against HRC and it isnt’ working. Both are never going to make it to the WH unless they are visiting.

VPOTUS will be POTUS in 2016. He will run and he will win. He has plenty of time. August end is time enough to announce.

  3. July 7, 2015 at 9:45 am

It is important to remember that when the Iran Nuclear deal is reached and it goes to the Senate for review and vote, President Obama has veto power and there must be 2/3rds majority to override PBO’s veto.

Excerpt From TPV: Even more importantly, the President can veto Congressional action disallowing the lifting of statutory sanctions, and the President will have 10 days to do so. In such a case, Congress has 12 days to override the veto. The previous version of Corker’s bill did not allow the President an opportunity to reject Congressional action at all.

    uncle joe

Just gaming the 2016 only on votes

Given the famed shellacking the thugs received in the last two presidential elections, immigration issue, Obamacare and SSM, you can bet your bottom dollar that the majority of take my country back white doods along with a sizable chunk of white women are sure gonna turn up and vote for whatever kkklown that oozes out of their primaries. No question about that.

    Against this, we have

pros – a good solid woman’s base, many white centrist dem voters, money

cons – unenthusiastic Obama base, bill clinton, poor campaign strategy & tactics and 100% hatred from rethugs which will drive their turnout

    saint sanders

pros – his loony left base

cons – his loony left base

    pros – ???

    cons – o who?

uncle joe + castro (no, the other one)

pros – solid obama base with their grass roots money and enthusiasm, will have appeal with some of the take my country back rethugs and the many white dems still squeamish about the kenyan, texas might be in play (castro factor), future prez candie grooming …. and oh, the kenyan and his wifey unit on the campaign trail.

cons – press (3rd obama term !!!), loony left and pumas

    Now, did I cover everything?

        GM Vicki.

As much as it pains me 😉 to agree with amk, agree that it won’t be de blasio. Despite his reputation as someone who speaks first and thinks later, years of Senate experience has forged a pragmatic politician with a true-blue progressive (fair shake for everyone) heart.

Was hoping that Deval Patrick would be Biden’s running mate, but amk has a good point (two east coast libruls) — so Joe will probably look west/south for a running mate with an emphasis on non-white and/or woman during the vetting process — but this speculation is a year away, so will put aside until this time next year.

IF Joseph Robinette Biden III chooses to run, we will see him fired up in a way no one thought possible. And this is a passionate, caring man who has been fired up before, plenty. But – if he is standing forward, much of the wind will immediately be deflated from the other sails, and this man who knows exactly what he is talking about all the time, will move people on a heart level, as he and his Brother, The Reverend President Barack Hussein Obama, lay out a plan for this country that even the dull and ignorant will see, and embrace.

      Well done, amk!

There is one more “pro” for HRC: there is a base of people who absolutely LOVE the Clintons. We don’t see it as clearly here, but it does exist. And they will vote enthusiastically.

And of course, next to the black guy in the WH the GOP loathes the Clintons more than anything else. It will be brutal. However, butality toward any Democratic POTUS is now part of the fabric of American politics. Nicely done.

Social studies books for Texas public schools will minimize the importance of slavery in the Civil War and omit any mention of both Jim Crow laws and the Ku Klux Klan, the Washington Post reported.

Lessons covering the Civil War will list the reasons behind the conflict as being, “sectionalism, states’ rights and slavery,” in that order.

As Business Insider noted, the new textbooks come five years after the state board of education revised the curriculum. Republican board member Pat Hardy stated at the time that he considered slavery “a side issue” in the war.

The books are set to be issued to the state’s 5 million public school students not long after the renewed debate regarding the Confederate flag, spurred by Dylann Roof’s terrorist attack inside a South Carolina church last month that killed nine people, including state Sen. Clementa Pinckney.

Dumbing down of Americans…let’s just erase what we don’t want to acknowledge and own….( this is the perfect example of why voting in every STATE election is so important!!! )

I don’t even think that he thinks about PBO. I honestly just think that he is so caught up in his own message that he really doesn’t care what Dems think. He has his followers right now and he thinks they are going to get him to the promise land. I just hope they all get registered so they can vote for the Dem Nominee in 2016.

The problem Sanders is stirring up is he is doing what EW is doing: making this about the familiar corporate and Wall St vs us. It’s the old OCCUPY strategy and he will alienate voters from the general. JMO.

Yeah I’m beginning to see that more and more each day. It will be interesting when the media starts challenging him about all these “great policies” that don’t have a chance in hell of ever getting implemented. I read in a comment section last night that it would take 10-15 million additional voters than PBO got in 2008 to even get close to taking back congress. If he can get that many more voters…more power to him but I’m not seeing it thus far.

I am often reminded of Dean in 2004. This was the type enthusiasm he got. Most expected him to walk away with the nomination. He seemed unstoppable. Yet voters in Iowa began to be turned off by the antics of his supporters who seemed to be camped out in the state and so enthusiastic caucus voters began to feel harassed.

It is unclear to me what Bernie Sanders’ end game will turn out to be. He makes insulting remarks about AA voting based on skin color (which is both factually untrue and unbelievably patronizing). Claims racism against Black folks is over in America. Segregates AAs from “hard working Americans” in his statements intended to appeal to folks who left the Democratic party in opposition to the ending of apartheid in this country. He made statements minimizing the importance of the ACA. Now he is basically calling the President a liar about the jobs numbers PBO (justifiably) touts. He seems to be running against PBO, which gets media attention and donations, but doesn’t otherwise make a lot of sense (especially since Joe Biden is not in the race). He is trying to divide the Democratic party along racial lines, alienate the Obama coalition and diminish PBO’s presidency. He basically using the Alison Grimes strategy on the presidential level (the one level Dems don’t need to pander to racists, as PBO’s two terms proves). He is especially dangerous because he REALLY seems to love the attention. Perceived power or popularity usually reveals a person’s true “face”, and in Sanders case it ain’t pretty.
