Two beautiful, powerful and, yes, fabulous people with the grace to play shadow games with Girl Scouts on the lawn after dark. There will never be anyone else like them.

Hi, Yardarm! Well, having finally gotten to the blog, now I’m too tired to stay. But I love inspirational quotes, so I’ll read these and then pay a short visit to twitter, and then zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

This is out of control. Is it possible to station guards at vulnerable churches? How else can we respond to protect our churches? We need to do something immediately. What about the National Guard?

      • 21 CEB
        June 30, 2015 at 10:59 pm

Too many churches and there will never be enough guards to keep this from happening. We need a change of heart and spirit in those who support and carry out these crimes. This is the ongoing work of our country.

KKK wanna-bes. This must stop! National Guard could help in this situation if next targets could be predicted. Local law enforcement should be on high alert near all African American churches in the south.

            June 30, 2015 at 11:11 pm

Often the local law was complicit if not directly involved in these acts of terrorism in many areas throughout the South. As we have all learned recently when it comes to this, the past is prologue.

He, he, he! They are too much!

I love how my girl is rocking her version of outdoor camping fashion: white clothes and beautifully manicured nails (aqua?).

I worked for the Girl Scouts as a P R person many years ago. When I visited camps I looked nothing like this. MO is one of a kind.

Chips and TOD – “Thanks” doesn’t quite cut it. But thank you, my friend CanadaBarb, for posting an update on my son’s surgery yesterday (the second longest day of my life after the day I gave birth to my son 46 years ago – and you mothers out there know we never forget that!!!). Thank you to everyone who both prayed and sent up good thoughts for my son, before and after, and then made some sweet comments here about it. Barb emailed me a bunch of messages and then a bunch more, and maybe tomorrow I’ll read them all as a group. Love you all.

I was going to start fully describing what my son has been facing over the last many months, but I’m too whipped! (I’ve actually started it several times, but it’s a no-go tonight.) Let’s just say we were told after the previous two biopsies my son had that the large mass in his right lung “did not appear to be lung cancer,” and they were continuing to look at a fungal infection (who knew Illinois is a fungal paradise?), after many, many other lab tests proved negative. The pulmonary specialist finally convinced him to see the thoracic surgeon who said it “did not appear to be lung cancer but, if it is, we’re going to get it,” and when he went in yesterday morning, he found lung cancer and removed the right lung. We’re awaiting test results of the lymph nodes. It was still a very big SHOCK.

Spent six hours with my son at the hospital today, while his girlfriend worked, which I will never forget. He’s coming along, has great pain in the upper shoulder from the operation (eased by some very much appreciated painkillers!), is keeping his spirits up, still not able to talk much, but did have something from the liquid diet menu both at lunch and dinner, a good sign. The best part was just being there with him. Twice this strong 6-foot-tall man reached out and quietly held my hand, smiling at me. I told him, “You do know how much you’re loved, don’t you?” He would doze off and on, and once when he awoke, I told him, “You look like you’re dreaming and you’re getting a big smile on your face when you do.” He said, keeping his eyes closed, “I’m dreaming about the grandkids” (his two grandboys!). Of course, we have photos of the two action figures around his room, the moms have sent videos from Florida for him, tonight he spoke to all five of his kids and the two boys. Well, as he put it, “You all talk, I’ll listen,” because his throat hasn’t gotten back to normal from the tube from the operation yet.

I have profound faith that yesterday was the day my son’s health began getting to a better place, and I thank God and the stars above and through everybody’s good wishes that he’s going to have a good recovery and be on the mend. I also told him y’all had sent good thoughts from near and far, and he asked me to thank you very much.

    Thank you very much! ❤

Let’s hope that since the mass looked atypical it can be easily eradicated is there is anything left after surgery. Praying for a clean report on the lymph nodes. Love is the best medicine, and you are giving it to your son straight from your heart. Hope all the TOD love helps, too. Take good care of yourself, Jacqueline!

Good news on his first day after surgery — continued healing, strength and recovery to JO’B son.

Yeah…I chuckled at that:) Lower 70’s seems like amazing right now….if only! Storms around again tonight for us, too. Last night it was NUTS around here..had a microburst right down the road from me…saw huge trees totally uprooted and thrown around…for the first time ever, I saw a huge tree that had flattened a car….oh, my goodness. It’s a mess! Supposed to have more of that tonight….we need the rain, but little rain and lots of lightening isn’t good! Everyone stay safe out there!

Glad that you have a reprieve from your neighbor, MP…ENJOY!! Breathe deep:)
