And I seriously saw some (Liberal/Progressive/Democratic??????) people suggesting it would have been better if it had been overturned so that in 2016 we could sweep the White House, House, and Senate and pass single payer. The demented loons are not all in the GOP.

    • June 25, 2015 at 12:45 pm

That’s the emoprogs for you. Don’t give a damn about real people.

    • 37 jackiegrumbacher
      June 25, 2015 at 2:03 pm

Maryl1, they live in a fantasy world of their own making and make up scenarios that would never have a chance of happening because they don’t have the skill or the numbers to bring them about. They are also amazingly cavalier about the numbers of Americans who would be hurt by their antics. And need we remind them, that ACA was passed when the White House, House and Senate were in Democratic hands and we could not get single payer passed.

      • June 25, 2015 at 2:57 pm

I know, jackie, and they were getting a lot of pushback. But they’ve heard those arguments for 5 years and it makes no difference. I was appalled that they were willing for millions of people to lose insurance for two years minimum on the CHANCE that we MIGHT be able to pass something better. They worried that is law will be so good that people will stop fighting for something better. Well, if it’s that good, maybe we won’t need something better. That is real right-wing thinking if you ask me. They don’t want to win or to make the hard governing decisions; they just want to sit on the sidelines and use their peashooters.

I have a friend who complains about the trade deal and how disappointed he is in Obama blah, blah. I had to bite my lip at the time in reminding him that he considered Clinton the greatest president and how Clinton supported and signed NAFTA into law. Wont bite my lip anymore and will mention this when I see him next.

      • 43 hopefruit2
        June 25, 2015 at 12:53 pm

Also, tell your friend that most of the GOP inthe House voted AGAINST this particular bill, and most of the Dems voted FOR it. Perhaps that will help convince him that this is in fact a progressive deal.

        • 44 57andfemale
          June 25, 2015 at 3:05 pm

A slight quibble: they have not voted on the trade deal. Just fast track authority and the worker’s assistance over the last few days. The deal itself has yet to be voted on.

I am so sick of hearing from whiny liberals that they hate NAFTA so they hate TPP, and TPP = NAFTA. They refuse to see that it fixes a lot of NAFTA’s egregious provisions. I cannot fathom how any thinking liberal would think PBO would set out to hurt American trade and industry. Every effing day he is out there fighting progressive causes like I have have never seen from a POTUS in my lifetime. But there they are, exposing their ignorance and prejudice as if they were the lefty version of the tea party.

The GOP hates spending money for re-training workers….they would rather they end up on public assistance so they can demonize them as lazy and takers.

Such good news today. The affirmation on the ACA has a very personal meaning for our family. Our precious grandson, Eric, was born with a condition called macrodactylism….he had two big toes. The regular big toe, and the second one. As you can imagine, this is a condition that needs to be corrected. Fortunately, they live in Texas, so they were eligible for totally FREE surgery at the Scottish Rite orthopedic hospital.
Eric had this surgery when he was 15 months old. He was in a cast from his toe to his hip for six weeks. When the cast was taken off, his leg and foot were beautiful and straight, with four toes on his left foot.
This is what would have been a preexisting condition that would have prevented him from getting health insurance the rest of his life, if not for the ACA. I finally wrote President Obama today and thanked him for fighting for this and told him about Eric. One of the commentators on MSNBC said not everyone is affected by this, so not everyone is cognizant of its benefits. Well, every woman knows, everyone with a preexisting condition knows……again, he’s talking about privileged white males who are not aware of the benefits. But, oh well…..

Also so glad for the ruling on housing in Texas, and the passage of the TAA…….will these people never stop declaring PBO dead???!!!!

My sister-in-law is a recent survivor of a serious form of uterine cancer. Thanks to Obamacare she can now not be denied health insurance and she can buy it on the exchange because she is self employed. Since Oregon recently closed down their state exchange and switched to the federal exchange, she would have been denied the opportunity to buy insurance through the federal exchange if this idiotic GOP lawsuit had prevailed. Today is a great day for her and all of us.

      Oh my.
The last time Claire McCaskill had my respect was in the primary season of 2007-2008. Claire was a frequent face on TV supporting Sen. Obama.
But, at a State of The Union speech she soon showed her true colors when she tweeted throughout PBO’s remarks.

Claire was joining the winning side (PBO) only temporarily as did Arianna Huffington and many others.

She is a Big Money Corporate Third Way Neo-Liberal DLC DINO. I am never interested in what she says or thinks, even if she gets it right every so often.

And bernie is a socialist and is very wrong about many things. But coming from Claire McTriangulator, who gives a shit?

Just a post on my FB news feed about national parks (eastern division) will no longer be selling the confederate flag. It was a tagged group of folks who do re enactments of CW. The comments won’t surprise you: PO is race baiting to start another civil war so he can stay in office. One said better start buying up all ammunition possible. Another has heard there’s a petition in SC legislature saying if the flag comes down, signees support SC ‘break away’. Another agreed with that and said there will be other states do the same, then back to PO is purposely doing this to start a civil war.

Geez. These folks are off the wall batshit crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
