Congratulations, Chipsticks! Great toons. The relatives have arrived. So far, so good! Keeping fingers crossed for President Obama on all the trade vote machinations. I really appreciated Bobfr’s take on what Nancy Pelosi might be up to because what was occurring in public on the House floor and in her op-ed for USA today made no sense at the time.

Can you find that and bring it over here, Judith? I saw it quickly last night and need to piece it together better in my head…I agree about Pelosi..it just didn’t make sense. I can snatch it if you know where it is…some here might need to ponder what Bobfr’s comments were, too:)

He certainly could do that, LP, but I think he and Speaker Pelosi might be co-conspirators in forcing not only a winning TAA vote, but also a winning vote on the DRIVE act – http://www.noodls.com/view/344D09BB0C97C7978A0E9D1FBD1B2EAB731BFE00?5516xxx1435082555

I thought it really curious – and perhaps a bit too obvious – that when PBO suffered his zillionth ‘katrina moment’ last week on the failed House trade legislation vote, one of the first ‘undisclosed source’ messages was that Speaker Pelosi was going to use House Dem votes to leverage a ‘comprehensive highway infrastructure bill.’ Not even 7 days later, Vitter, Boxer, Carper, Inhofe introduce the DRIVE act in the Senate.

That’s why, btw, why I was reticent on chastising Speaker Pelosi. She has been a stalwart supporter of PBO and what appeared to be a betrayal was just too divergent to be believable. (Won’t have long to wait to know.)

Everyone is aware that without Dem votes the trade legislation that President Obama would be willing to sign will not get to his desk.

Reality is that GOP are now caught in the worst possible conundrum – their corporate overlords want this trade deal to pass, they need legislation that PBO is willing to sign because no way do they have sufficient votes to override a veto, States and corporations are demanding we fix our infrastructure, and States and corporations know that comprehensive infrastructure appropriations will create 1M plus jobs which will mean more tax revenue and more sales.

Once again, President Obama has designed the conundrum algorithm, perfectly. And, if the outcome is as designed he will also have resolved yet another of President Clinton’s FAILS, i.e., NAFTA.

          Understood, LP.

I’ll wait to see who attends the signing ceremonies – for Trade and for ‘Highway Infrastructure’ – and how big their smiles and hugs with PBO are 🙂

Like I said, the apparent change in position and then the ‘comprehensive highway legislation’ caveat to get D votes seemed just a bit too obvious to me that PBO and Madame Speaker were playing the GOP for the fools they long ago proved they are.

What I know for certain is that PBO BBQ’d the ‘lame duck’ months ago and GOP better hope he’s not developing a taste for BBQ’d elephant 😀

Can someone please tell me why so many of these clowns are running for the Presidency this year? Geesh!

What on earth makes them think that they can lead this country? I am amazed at the arrogance of these clowns.

Iran’s supreme leader has hardened his stance on the nuclear negotiations with world powers, with the deadline for a comprehensive agreement only days away.

In a speech on Tuesday night, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei insisted Iran would only dismantle its nuclear infrastructure if economic sanctions were lifted first.

He also ruled out a freeze on research and development for 10 years, as well as inspections of military sites.

The demands appear to undercut a framework deal announced in April.

They could also limit the ability of Iran’s negotiating team to make key concessions as the self-imposed 30 June deadline approaches.

As supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei has final say on all state matters.

The White House has announced changes to how the US government handles hostage situations that involve American citizens.

President Barack Obama has directed the US government not to threaten the hostages’ families with prosecution if they attempt to pay captors’ ransom.

Mr Obama has drawn criticism for the long-standing policy of prohibiting concessions to militant groups.

The shift raises questions about whether it makes US citizens more lucrative targets for hostage-takers.

The changes come at the conclusion of a review into the US policy, which was ordered after the deaths of several US hostages in the past year.

The fact that many European governments regularly pay ransoms to free their citizens has frustrated US families as they have worked to win the release of their loved ones.

US ‘to help Nigeria search for stolen money’.

The US and other countries have agreed to help Nigeria recover money stolen from the government, President Muhammadu Buhari has said.

The new president said on Tuesday that the country’s treasury was “virtually empty”.

He vowed to recover billions of dollars “stolen” under previous administrations.

    Good Morning TOD Family.

I asking for your prayers this morning. The grandson of good friends of ours committed suicide on Monday. He was 16 years old. We found out last night and needless to say we are reeling. They took Jason in about a year ago because he needed the stability. He seemed to be happy and thriving. They provided that stability and love in droves and of course, as is always the case, they are tortured by what they DIDN’T do or didn’t see. They’re good people who did the right thing. They’re devastated and my heart is breaking for them.

    Thank you Family.
