Holt donated $8,500 to Cruz and his Jobs, Growth & Freedom Fund political action committee, records show. He also donated $2,250 to Paul’s super PAC and $1,500 to Santorum’s 2012 presidential campaign.
A Cruz campaign spokesman told The Guardian that the senator would be refunding Holt’s donations immediately. A Santorum campaign spokesman told the publication that the former senator “does not condone or respect racist or hateful comments of any kind,” but did not say Santorum would be refunding Holt’s donations.
A spokesman for Paul did not return The Guardian’s request for comment.

The Scotus blog discussion is useful in giving reasons for why a decision is now/later – but basically I think arapaho is right – the important ones are left to last – your idea on “flying out fast” could be close to the mark. 🙂
After listening to the WTF podcast, I have to chuckle, because PBO stated with confidence that ACA will survive and he laid out the reasons and explanations for what will probably end up being decided.

Couldn’t figure out why so many speculated (aka MSM) that SCOTUS decision would be announced last week.
Historical precedent for rulings on hugely anticipated decisions are announced just before SCOTUS skips town until the first Monday in October.
Which will probably be next Monday. There are 7 outstanding decisions after today. Four were given today.
King v. Burwell (ACA) was argued in February which is why some folks think the decision should be ready. There is still 1 case outstanding from January, 2 from February, 1 from March & the remainder from April – so they seem to announce vaguely based on length of time since argument.
…..or they have not finished making all their travel plans and bags packed to make a speedy exit out of town so they won’t have to deal with the fall out….

I absolutely LOVED the WTF interview with Marc Maron. He asked intelligent, thought-provoking questions with openness and respect and POTUS answered them in such a lovely and ebullient way, it was a complete joy to listen. I especially loved the part where he talks about being fearless and competent and how he would run an even BETTER campaign the third time around. YES, no doubt!!
What really upsets the pundits and the GOP politicians – it doesn’t matter what questions are asked – the President does not have to “prepare” answers. Give a pundit or a GOPer an unexpected question and they either give garbled stupid replies or refuse to answer. I don’t remember hearing such an eloquent educated President – on any topic – ever in my lifetime (probably starting with JFK as the first President I heard speaking).
I think you really hit the nail on the head. PBO never hesitates to answer any question or situation because he ALWAYS speaks from his heart. Ordinary politicians either get caught up in their lies or have to wait for their focus groups and polling operations to weigh in. Just watch him at town halls when he’s being heckled. He just goes with the flow and then says, “OK, that’s enough, let me move on.” On some occasions, he’s even followed up with the hecklers by inviting them backstage or speaking with them in the rope line. He is fearless.
There are so very few politicians who can do this. On occasion I listen to question time in our parliament. It is like a group of students when the teacher has left the room – yelling at each other – calling out those with whom they disagree and being generally disruptive. Our parliaments in times past used to be known for eloquent speaking and interesting debating. It has been a long time since this ever happened.
Well, I think that’s an apt metaphor for the entirety of our politics these days. PBO and VP Biden are my only exceptions.
