Charleston police later tweeted that they were searching for a white male suspect in his 20s after the shooting at 110 Calhoun Street.

    of course.

    this is going to be a very long and trying night especially for the people of Charleston SC;

I wish it was day time because I need to take a long walk and do some reflection – #TiredOfHate #TiredofGunViolence

People (and i mean people of color) can’t even go to church without some racist gun nut deciding to shoot the place up. Sick of this shit!

    • June 18, 2015 at 12:59 am

      “Sick of this shit!”

I am with you Dudette. It seems to me that white racists are hell bent on provoking a race war during the presidency of Barack Obama. And the so called Democratic, leftist, progressives, like Sen. Bernie Sanders, are going around loudly proclaiming that the U.S. has overcome racism.

Never was there more truth spoken – and I will always blame white media, white politicians and the 2008 McCain campaign for stirring up this racist hate.

Just home from a shopping trip & this greets me at TOD – why am I thinking “will it never end”

I seem to remember Hillary’s 2008 campaign first brought race into the forefront.

I didn’t follow the race before PBO became the nominee – but I do so remember the VP nominated by John McCain having a stump speech that ALWAYS attacked the person, not the policies.

I just saw this comment on my FB page.

“Horrible. This shooting was not a coincidence — it occurred on the anniversary of the Denmark Vessey slave revolt. This church, the Emmanuel AME church, was rebuilt by his son.”

This is absolutely horrible, JOB! It seems to me that the racist haters are intent on harming innocent Black people because they are angry that the majority of Americans voted for PRESIDENT Obama twice.

It’s heartbreaking, nath. No idea specifically why THIS hater did this, but these murders added to the other murders … it’s unbearable.

Because you stupid red states allow ANYONE to carry a REAL gun especially white males and they know white cops don’t care or are too afraid of people who are armed.

The SC Carolina Governor’s statement is so lame! She needs to take courses in the history of African Americans and Native (Indian) Americans.

And imagine if African Americans would start arming themselves in a similar mode to the white folks – perhaps that is the only way to get some control over people owing weapons. GWB should start a war against the WMD held within US states.

    • 38 susanne
      June 18, 2015 at 1:21 am

and if it’s promoting homosexuality to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple, it sure as hell is promoting murder and hate crime and a culture of oppression to allow the sale of weapons to racists.

      • 39 jacquelineoboomer
        June 18, 2015 at 1:25 am

And racists are everywhere and they’re not going to identify themselves before purchasing weapons, even if they had any forms to fill out.

When I heard about the shooting on the radio, I hoped it wasn’t another massacre.

Shocked, stunned about the cold-blooded intent of this murderer, especially after seeing the history of this church, in that most genteel of Southern towns (I’ve never been to SC, but I’ve read articles about Charleston).

We felt a similar chill and disbelief after Sandy Hook, but this seems somehow worse.

With too many reporters chasing too few 2016 stories, I wonder if the MSM will be compelled to push back on the gluttonous excess of the NRA?

Tucson happened before the 2012 campaign was in full swing, Sandy Hook happened the month after the 2012 election.

Will the NRA-fearing GOP clown show be confronted about this carnage? Didn’t TX open-carry on college campuses and other public places (like churches and libraries) take effect yesterday?

Think Obama administration, the creame de la creame of any management system. So here’s what’s likely happening. The President was notified shortly after the police learned one of the dead was a state senator. The state senator’s murder is considered an assassination. DHS Secretary and AG Lynch were also notified, prior to PBO. They have all had at least one conference call. FBI and DHS folks are on the ground. You can also expect the NSA is involved, which means they know who he is and probably his general location. They know about his family and friend connections, his criminal record, his mental health and school history and work history. They have also identified any others who may have helped facilitate his act of terrorism. THey have tracked his movement sover the last 72 hours. Those who have learned PBO know that he always works with his cards close to the vest until he has sufficient information to act or speak. I imagine his speech writers are working right now to prepare his statement as well as one for AG Lynch. I trust PBO in all things and under all circumstances.
