Oh, I did want to mention this, Chips.

I was watching the Slovenia v England match, and I must say this: I think Wayne’s plugs are falling out. The top of his pate is definitely balding again.

I just got a call from the Ann Kirkpatrick campaign. She is one of the few Dem members of Congress, and barely scraped by in the last election last November. She is running for Senate and her opponent is John McCain. I am so excited that we have a Dem running against him and hope we can all support her, although I haven’t always agreed with her on PBO issues.

I sent a small donation to her campaign after she announced she was running.

Yesterday, I stopped giving monthly to DCCC. For now on I’m going to give to individual candidates.

I know since she represents Arizona that she will not agree with the President on everything, but she’s certainly better than McCain or any other republican.

My sophomore year of college (1967-68) I attended the University of Pavia, which is just 45 min. south of Milan. It’s the second oldest university in Europe (Christopher Columbus studied there). Years ago I used to be quite familiar with Milan, as it is the rail hub to go nearly anywhere north or south. My wife and I visited Milan again in 2012 after she retired.

      • June 17, 2015 at 4:38 pm

Milano is a beautiful place with the definite feel of a hub! And FLOTUS has already mentioned how much she and Malia love Italy. They must be having a grand time.

All rolled into a little nutshell: http://www.salon.com/2014/07/16/i_was_poor_but_a_gop_die_hard_how_i_finally_left_the_politics_of_shame/

…. I felt my own poverty was a moral failure. To support my feelings of inadequacy, every move I made only pushed me deeper into poverty. I bought a car and got screwed on the financing. The credit I could get, I overused and was overpriced to start with. My wife couldn’t get or keep a job, and we could not afford reliable day care in any case. I was naive, broke and uneducated but still felt entitled to a middle-class existence.

If you had taken WIC and the EITC away from me, my son would still have eaten, but my life would have been much more miserable. Without government help, I would have had to borrow money from my family more often. I borrowed money from my parents less than a handful of times, but I remember every single instance with a burning shame. To ask for money was to admit defeat, to be a de facto loser.

To make up for my own failures, I voted to give rich people tax cuts, because somewhere deep inside, I knew they were better than me. They earned it. My support for conservative politics was atonement for the original sin of being white trash.

    Today’s Must Read and Pass….

      taken from the article…
“Sadly, it took me years — decades — to see the illogic of supporting people who disdain me. But I’m a super-slow learner. I wish I could take the poorest, struggling conservatives and shake them. I would scream that their circumstances or failures or joblessness are not all their fault. They should wise up and vote themselves a break. Rich people vote their self-interest in every single election. Why don’t poor people?”

      Thanks DF!

The president is a superior terrorist hunter. He has also neutralized a profound existential threat to U.S. allies in the Middle East, and denied ISIS access to vast storehouses of deadly chemical weapons. So why does he get no credit?

Where is this going? I don’t understand the endgame here!

      • June 17, 2015 at 4:33 pm

Re vote in the senate on TPA with the promise of a separate vote on TAA separately after…basically calling House D bluff by passing TPA and saying if you don’t want TAA we will leave you in the dust.

        • June 17, 2015 at 4:37 pm

Right but PBO already said he won’t accept TPA without TAA, so all it amounts to is the same drill in the House and pushing PBO farther into a corner.

          • June 17, 2015 at 4:48 pm

I think it is the opposite by putting the onus on Pelosi & Co…..plus I think PBO is just taking that public position so he doesn’t ruffle any more spineless House D feathers in hopes of getting both passed.

…from an article I posted earlier

“Now Republican leaders are trying to figure out a way for the Senate to vote for the fast-track bill without TAA. In the scenario envisioned by GOP leaders — which they haven’t yet committed to — the House would pass the fast-track bill without TAA and send it to the Senate (though fast track already passed, the House would still need to vote on it again for procedural reasons). Then pro-trade Senate Democrats would be asked to vote for the fast-track bill with a promise that the TAA bill would also pass the House and be signed by Obama later. That’s a tall order in and of itself. ***But the idea is that if fast track has already passed in the Senate, then House Democrats would have nothing to lose by backing TAA and it’d be much likelier to pass.”**** that is where I believe PBO creates leverage….and I have always maintained that PBO will sign TPA/TPP w/o TAA if the D’s don’t end up playing ball.

This reminds me of Reggie Love when he said that then Sen. Obama said to him “if I have to do your job and mine, I don’t need you”

House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) told Archuleta and OPM Chief Information Officer Donna Seymour, “You failed utterly and totally.” He referred to OPM’s own inspector general reports and hammered Seymour in particular for the 11 major systems out of 47 that had not been properly certified as secure—which were not contractor systems but systems operated by OPM’s own IT department. “They were in your office, which is a horrible example to be setting,” Chaffetz told Seymour. In total, 65 percent of OPM’s data was stored on those uncertified systems.

      June 17, 2015 at 11:17 pm

This is a contractor problem, which needs to be addressed first. Was it a contractor that hired symsadmins in China and Argentina? Let’s get that info first before we point fingers at OPM staff.

    • June 17, 2015 at 5:31 pm

      See….

We all know that the only reason idiot Dems voted against TAA was b/c they were linked and it was the only way to kill TPA(even though it passed) By decoupling TPA & TAA and passing TPA as a stand alone the morons will come along and pass TAA as a stand alone as well all while looking stupid in the end. I think this will work out in the end minus the freaking embarrassment/circus it displayed.

Here is the shorter version of what is supposed to happen tomorrow:

      • June 17, 2015 at 5:36 pm

I understand but I just don’t see this happening. Pelosi has gone WAAAAAAAAY out on a limb in various ways over the last week to express her deep resistance to TPA. But we’ll see. Again, I REALLY hope I’m wrong.

        • June 17, 2015 at 5:37 pm

And Clinton has given her cover!

        • June 17, 2015 at 5:44 pm

We don’t know what kind of internal pushback she has gotten, but in some ways if the Senate D’s pass TPA stand alone and Pelosi still won’t free her caucus I have a feeling POTUS has obtained a large block of House GOPers to replace the D votes needed. Last week McCarthy said he thought he had ~80 got a 100…I’m sure that is why PBO was chatting it up w/ Boehner yesterday and giving the middle finger to Pelosi.
