Yes – about time too – may I tell you my very very very good news – which has nothing to do with Llamas

        What’s the news?!?!

          So glad you asked 🙂

Well MightyP and I had many discussions about the horrors of downsizing – and Mr 99 & I headed into the task about a year ago – and it surely seemed to be a never ending job as we shredded stuff, took stuff to the recycle centre, the rubbish disposal centre, the charity shops and a storage shed where we put what we know not what to do with.

We also had a house that is older than my daughter that we had to get ready for selling – hence the tradesmen and the landscaper and all the 1st world problems I keep mentioning. So a few weeks ago we got the photos taken of this house I no longer recognize, advertised it for sale – and the 1st prospect who walked in the door signed a contract to buy at an acceptable price.

I have been falling over in amazement ever since.

Oh – also too – the diswasher that was 2 years and 2 months old, with a 2 year warranty is going to be repaired under warranty (I know not why, but am not arguing). Sometimes good things happen – I fear it may not continue!

          • June 17, 2015 at 10:30 am

Wooooooooot, congratulations 99ts! Wow, the first viewer made an offer? Amazing! And congrats too on the dishwasher – that is the kindest, best company on planet earth!

The dishwasher was an added bonus – of course we have to wait for the sale to be finalised – but it’s looking good. Happy aussie at the minute – despite WAbbott still giving us grief. That too may end!

Congrats 99ts on selling your home of many years. Hope you are looking forward to new adventures and smaller home. I’ve lived in my condo for over 23 years and can’t believe how much one accumulates and it’s just me. It’s really hard getting rid of stuff you can’t wear thinking one day i’ll need it.

Thank you jojo – it really is a circular task – convince yourself to get rid of something – anything – then discover you still have way too much – and do it again and again!

We’ve bought a unit – about half the size of our current home – but interestingly, the same size as our very first house as a couple (we’ve only had the two). So in theory we should fit 🙂

Thanks 57 – it truly is amazing – could have taken months – and having to keep the place immaculate for continuing viewing is not my idea of how to spend one’s time – so we are thrilled. I probably shouldn’t have mentioned it until it is all finalised – so touching wood as I type!

            YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

I am beyond delighted 99ts, and Mr 99ts, this is so very synthetic with how the Universe works! You made a plan, stayed with it, did all the grunt work, and let the energy to work with you! Hallelujah! Good things WILL certainly continue to happen, and you will ‘know’ the right vibration for moving forward.

Well, I guess I have to surrender that I am very old. I want to add inches to the girls dress lengths.

Linda…I know right but when you’re that young and gorgeous with great legs you have inherited from Michelle. You get a pass 🙂 Shine on lil Queens

My family laughed at me for sticking kleenex up my shirt sleeve, saying… Mom….old ladies do that !

I came of age during the short skirts and could not imagine wearing anything close to my knee as being “too long”. Now I can’t imagine wearing anything above my knees as “too short”….

      • June 17, 2015 at 10:56 am

Linda I can agree with you, but I also know how young people dress today. The other day I saw a young girl with these tight pants, I mean tight and then tight, and then had on a short top with her stomach hanging out. Young folks.

I was young during the “mini shirt” era and the “hot pants” and the psychedelic colors. I have pictures. Oh my. But I will say that I wore hot pants sets – came with a short “dress” open in front. I had great legs (no brag just fact :D) but I was a little conservative to go out in just plain hot pants. 😀

I have not seen any media reporting on what Bernie Sanders saying that racism is gone in America….

All they talk about is that he is closing in on Hillary 509 days before the actual election.

    • June 17, 2015 at 10:51 am

The funny thing is the comments were made last November – was there any reaction from the media at all at the time?

        June 17, 2015 at 10:54 am

Last November ? I think they did not know who he was back then. Except for Ed Schultz, he was never on any tv network that I know of.

        • June 17, 2015 at 11:01 am

True. It would be nice if his remarks were highlighted now seeing as he’s running for the damn Presidency – even when PBO wasn’t given much of a chance, anything he said was analyzed til kingdom come.

Pressure the government of the Dominican Republic to stop its planned “cleaning” of 250,000 black Dominicans.
In just a few days, the Dominican Republic will declare around 250,000 Dominicans of Haitian descent stateless. They will have no citizenship and no rights. Many of these people have no ties to Haiti and Haiti cannot support an additional quarter of million people as refugees. This is obviously an enormous human rights violation and warrants immediate action.

A group called Americans for Tax Fairness released a report Wednesday alleging that Wal-Mart is dodging taxes using “a vast, undisclosed network of 78 subsidiaries and branches in 15 overseas tax havens.” The group also claims the retail giant doesn’t list these subsidiaries on their 10-K tax filings, which makes them harder to track. According to the report, at least 25 of Wal-Mart’s 27 foreign operations are owned by tax haven-housed subsidiaries. The majority of these subsidiaries are hidden in Luxembourg, Hong Kong, and the British Virgin Islands, which host a combined 47 of 78.

Girl Scouts subjected to racial insults after speaking out at Cecil County meeting
    Trang Do
    7:53 PM, Jun 16, 2015

A group of Girl Scouts is speaking out against racial remarks they say adults shouted at them following a public meeting in Cecil County.

A video taken after the April 29 meeting of the county’s Animal Care and Control Oversight Commission shows the tail end of a conflict between adults and Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Troop 176.

Several of the scouts spoke up during public comment to ask about the treatment of animals at the county’s animal control facility. Their concerns were raised after reading local newspaper articles about cramped, inadequate conditions.

“I felt really bad for the animals because that wasn’t a really good home for them,” said 10 year old Amayah Spurlock.

“We thought that it wasn’t right to treat our animals the wrong way, so I wanted to give reasons why they shouldn’t,” said Tamara Spurlock, 11.

The girls were standing outside of the meeting with homemade signs, when they said supporters of the county’s animal control vendor, A Buddy for Life, began shouting racially tinged remarks at them.

“They were saying, ‘Go back to Baltimore, where you belong,’ and they started pointing out me and my sisters,” said 13 year old Arianna Spurlock, who is African-American.

“I was like sad and mad at the same time,” Amayah said.

“They were calling us, like animals and stuff,” Arianna said. “And I didn’t really know why because if they are calling us animals, aren’t they supposed to be helping animals?”

House Republicans take aim at key family planning program
    06/17/15 11:20 AM—UPDATED 06/17/15 11:23 AM
    By Steve Benen
In the wake of the Republican gains in the 2010 midterms, House GOP lawmakers quickly prioritized the elimination of all Title X funding. Not surprisingly, the efforts faced massive Democratic resistance.

But now that Republicans control both the House and Senate, far-right members are pursuing their goal with renewed vigor. Laura Bassett reported yesterday for the Huffington Post:

The House Appropriations Labor-HHS Subcommittee released a budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2016 on Tuesday that zeroes out funding for the Title X family planning program, the only federal grant program that provides contraceptive and other preventive health services to poor and uninsured individuals who would otherwise lack access to that kind of care.

The program subsidizes 4,100 health clinics nationwide and provides no- or low-cost family planning services to individuals who earn less than about $25,000 a year. The largest demographic the program serves is reproductive-aged women between 20 and 29 years old.

Those who said the so-called “Republican war on women” is over may want to re-think their thesis.
