    Lucky day?

“….House Republican lawmakers will move today to extend consideration of the trade package until July 31. The extension would give both House lawmakers and Obama time to come up with a plan that could win enough votes to pass legislation to provide Obama with expedited powers to secure trade deals, as well as a measure to extend a program that provides aid to workers displaced by trade deals.”

Because there is such confidence in the Clintons’ expertise re trade!

        • June 16, 2015 at 2:15 pm

She claimed a couple of days ago that “there’s no tougher negotiator on trade” than her.
          So there you have it.

IMO HRC doesn’t even believe what she says in these media/campaign sessions! If she was so tough on trade she’d be confident enough to state her opinion before having to test the direction of the trade winds.

          • June 16, 2015 at 2:49 pm

So the idea is to destroy all of president Obama’s work and wait for Hillary Clinton to negotiate a new deal ?

Oh yeah… and in two years China will be there, and blow things up. ANd the USA will end up with having to agree to a deal dictated by China.

Democrats will finally see the light, president Obama will be vindicated. But USA workers will have lost.

The problem of President Obama ? He doesn’t put enough of a good “show”; “fists on the table”, never uses demagoguery and irrational arguments… He just does the right thing, presents his case, and thinks that rationality will win the day.

Unfortunately, he often underestimates the potential for absurdity and hysteria in Washington politics.

One other thing: there has been this narrative built that he is not a tough negotiator. People are fools. They mistake his conciliatory demeanor for weakness. He’s willing to make concessions, yes. But these are always careful concessions, and he always keep his main goals in mind.

While other politicians are often good on rhetoric, but you look past that, and in effect they give up the store.

            NAFTA anyone ?

            • June 16, 2015 at 3:06 pm

Yes, perfectly stated, Lovepolitics. It’s such a waste of his talent to try and make these people see the light when they’re terrified into resistance by lobbyists.

              House Dems drive me nuts.

Saw the headlines last week about this, didn’t click on the article, but this how thin-skinned the traitor Dems are. Their fee-fees are hurt and the gradeschool WHPC plays along.

Cannot stand the obstruction and challenges to our President, by both Dems and MSM/GOP/Kochs/Comcast.

I have no clue what they are doing, but I still maintain President Obama should go all “Luther” on them tomorrow

I figure the president will go underground on the trade issue now, and come up with a surprise in July, like he has so many times. He’ll work the House in some ways we don’t know, as he is always working behind the scenes, and when they think it’s all over, is when it works best. I rarely take Steny Hoyer’s pronouncements seriously…..let them think it’s over…….always, the looooooong game. He’ll recoup his strength and resources and storm the battlements…..in a quiet, persistent way, like he has built the digital cohort in D.C.

      You said it, Nena.

Transracial is made up bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit.

Blackness is not a costume one puts on and takes off at will. Blackness is not self-tanner, bronzer, and wigs. Blackness is not taking our struggle, culture, and triumphs and using them for mockery without having any true lived experiences.

Rachel Dolezal is a disgusting person.

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors are investigating whether front-office officials for the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most successful teams in baseball over the past two decades, hacked into internal networks of a rival team to steal closely guarded information about player personnel. Investigators have uncovered evidence that Cardinals officials broke into a network of the Houston Astros that housed special databases the team had built, according to law enforcement officials. Internal discussions about trades, proprietary statistics and scouting reports were compromised, the officials said. The officials did not say which employees were the focus of the investigation or whether the team’s highest-ranking officials were aware of the hacking or authorized it. The investigation is being led by the F.B.I.’s Houston field office and has progressed to the point that subpoenas have been served on the Cardinals and Major League Baseball for electronic correspondence.

The attack would represent the first known case of corporate espionage in which a professional sports team hacked the network of another team. Illegal intrusions into companies’ networks have become commonplace, but it is generally conducted by hackers operating in foreign countries, like Russia and China, who steal large tranches of data or trade secrets for military equipment and electronics. Major League Baseball “has been aware of and has fully cooperated with the federal investigation into the illegal breach of the Astros’ baseball operations database,” a spokesman for baseball’s commissioner, Rob Manfred, said in a written statement. The Cardinals officials under investigation have not been put on leave, suspended or fired. The commissioner’s office is likely to wait until the conclusion of the government’s investigation to determine whether to take disciplinary action against the officials or the team. “The St. Louis Cardinals are aware of the investigation into the security breach of the Houston Astros’ database,” the team said in a statement. “The team has fully cooperated with the investigation and will continue to do so. Given that this is an ongoing federal investigation, it is not appropriate for us to comment further.continued”

This is too cute. And I will not be surprised if some people believe that it’s true. 😀

I don’t mean to be a Blackhawks-mania buzz-kill, but before we get too swept up in the Stanley Cup celebration, let’s acknowledge one simple fact: Barack Hussein King Mussolini Obama is using Chicago’s hockey team to get himself a third term as president.

For those of you who haven’t already reached this crystal-clear conclusion, let me lay out the evidence:

Everything Obama does is nefarious. That’s just a proven fact because I’ve heard it repeatedly on the radio.
Since Obama took office, the Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup three times. Prior to that, they had gone nearly 50 years without winning a championship. Clearly, Obama had a hand in this.

Yeah. That leaped out at me too. Even those who haven’t been tuning in, – which on the issue of racism and what’s been going on in the news, it’s really hard to plead ignorance – for crying out loud, the horrible incidence of police brutality in McKinney, Texas just occurred.

How anyone, much less Sen. Sanders, thinks America has overcome racism is jaw dropping in its ridiculousness.

      • June 16, 2015 at 3:42 pm

I hadn’t seen his comments before Allan’s tweet, they’re just extraordinary. In just two paragraphs:

What you got is an African-American president, and the African-American community is very, very proud that this country has overcome racism and voted for him for president. And that’s kind of natural.

Oh my God, the condescension, I don’t where to start.

“… this country has overcome racism”

        Is he ****ing serious??

“You should not be basing your politics based on your color.”

        I just can’t.

“In the last election …. you had an abysmally low vote for the Democrats among white, working-class people. And I think the reason for that is that the Democrats have not made it clear that they are prepared to stand with the working-class people of this country….”

What? Is he seriously putting African Americans and “the working-class people of this country” in to separate categories?

This honestly could be a Ted Cruz speech.

        • 81 Nerdy Wonka
          June 16, 2015 at 3:55 pm

          Exactly, Chips. Well stated.

          1. America hasn’t overcome racism, Bernie. Just stop right there.

          2. The notion that the majority of black people only voted for President Obama because he’s black is bloody ignorant and insulting.

          3. Democrats in positions of power like Bernie, will never learn. Stop chasing after the white working class vote that will never show up for you. You can give them healthcare, subsidized education, farm subsidies, etc. and they will still come out and vote for the GOP. You have a much better and broader coalition with minorities, women, and younger whites.

          4. In every election, Black Democrats deliver for the Democrats and now issues of racism, immigration, how a lack of good jobs and income is often tired to one’s race and the environment one grows up in, is suddenly persona non grata for man running to be President of the United States?

The fact that he separates African-Americans from the working class is mind blowing. Doesn’t he understand that sometimes your station in life and how your family is faring is also tied to race?

I apologize in advance, because once again, I don’t get what is happening.

If the Dems can forcefully speak to what matters to working class folks, is it not at least possible that even the most racist will vote their pocketbooks?

Or is it absolute that white people would rather starve on low or no wages, go without healthcare and destroy unions geared to help them, in fact do anything if you tell them it is good for black folks as well?

Dems who hid that Kynect is Obamacare are the dangerous ones. That was the Dems in Kentucky.
I believe that a Dem could win in Kentucky by identifying that Obamacare is the wonderful new thing in their lives.

They’ve been trying that for a long time Vicki, and it hasn’t yielded any huge voting bloc of white working class Americans. What is being pointed out is the hypocrisy and insulting nature of Bernie’s comments. Bernie tells People of Color not to vote for candidates based on color – when he knows that POC vote in huge numbers for white Democrats time and time again – then he turns around and wants us to focus more on white working class voters.

He completely negates his point by making it about color; specifically, white working class voters. He seems to believe they are the only voters Democrats must concentrate on in every election. Not the minorities, women, and younger white voters who come out for them. Not issues like voting rights, police brutality, immigration, etc. that matter to POC. Nope. Just white working class voters who no matter how much you make things better for them will still turn around and vote against their interests.

Plus, Bernie also seems to separate the fact that often, one’s race plays a huge role in access to education, healthcare, good jobs, income, etc., so tossing aside POC and our concerns is not smart for someone who wants to be President of the United States.

              • June 16, 2015 at 6:40 pm

it is not that Dems should not try to include white folks in their election strategy…but why when they do so does it have a racist edge…why is it necessary to diss blk folks.( the Dems most consistent constituency)..in order to win white workers…andddddd and as we discovered in 2014…it doesn’t work any way….they still lost the Senate….

and let us be clear….they are not just trying to win white workers…they are trying to win racist white voters….NUFF SAID

                • June 16, 2015 at 6:46 pm

That’s what’s so disgusting about Sanders’ comments, Prettyfoot, he could easily have said something like “the Democrats have not made it clear that they are prepared to stand with the working-class people of this country, of every class, color and creed“, but he only spoke of “white, working-class people” to appeal to that constituency. I really don’t give a crap what good this man has ever done, or what involvement he had in the civil rights movement, his mask slipped with these comments, he truly revealed himself. He can go screw himself.

      June 16, 2015 at 4:02 pm

Seems to me that Sanders wants to have it both ways. He says it shouldn’t be about color, but he turns right around and makes it ABOUT color by referencing the “white working class” voters. That’s disingenuous to the max.

And I’m glad people are calling out this bullshit. Because those same “white working class” voters whom Sanders so lovingly referenced are the same damn ones who very well voted based on color. Because they didn’t want to support an AA President, and didn’t want to vote for Democrats who supported his policies, and instead preferred to vote against their interests by disguising their bigotry behind Libertarian nihilistic ideology such as “all governments are bad” or “no difference between GOP & Dems.”

It blows my minds when people I respect say that they’re supporting Sanders. He’s a loose cannon and he is not electable on a national level. He is also incapable of getting done any of the things he says he cares about.

This idiocy from Bernie is exactly as bad as everyone has said it is.
What is interesting to me is that a tone-deaf and dumb statement from last year becomes big news on the very same day Bernie comes out strongly standing With PBO on Bibi.

With The President and against AIPAC. Bernie stressing why he stayed away from Bibi’s speech demeaning POTUS.

Then, her Brooklyn born Jewish opponent standing with President Obama against the blood-soaked Bully from the ME.

  26. June 16, 2015 at 3:52 pm

    So the latest on TPA:

House GOP is considering holding a vote maybe this week on a stand-alone TPA bill. GOP says they think they have the votes to pass it. So it look like they think the can detangle the TPA from the TAA. That would then require the Senate to figure out what to do with TAA at some other point in time.

This possibility of this option was asked at the WH briefing today and Josh refused to discuss tactics and process until there is a clear path. Not sure how PBO would react to this idea. Dems would most certainly FREAK OUT.

    STAY TUNED………..

    • 107 Vicki
      June 16, 2015 at 3:58 pm

Meta, at this point I admit to total confusion.
I want President Obama to win. I get that this is not the noblest intention but it is my truth.

The dems have given me no reason to trust them, but PBO has provided thousands of reasons to trust him.

      • June 16, 2015 at 4:06 pm

        I hear you.

One thing PBO can do, if he really wants this done, is to have TPA pass and say he’s “confident” Dems will act on TAA at some point before it expires on Sept 30th. He would be calling their bluff BIG time. Not sure if TPA alone could get through the Senate but Boehner seems determined to try. He could be out to just embarrass PBO again but I do think the feels he needs to bring this one home for business interests and CofC. Sorry, but I think the Dems have this coming to them.

          I still don’t get it.
          I give up. Almost.
I thought Boehner is going to pass the TAA now. Then Boehner and PBO win. No??????????????

          • June 16, 2015 at 4:27 pm

The Dems said today it’s a dead issue. So they are not playing. That’s why Boehner is scrambling to try something else. I know he’s spoken to POTUS but we don’t know if they’re still working on this together or if Boehner is just doing what he can on his own to get it back on track.

Does that help?! I know, it’s crazy.

Meta, I hope a stand-alone TPA passes at this point. He told the damn Democrats not to vote TAA down to destroy TPA, and they did it anyway. I REALLY don’t understand why Nancy Pelosi would collude. Wasn’t she supposed to have something up her sleeve to pressure Boehner, like an infrastructure or highway bill as a bargaining chip? Did she really just throw in the towel? I wish President Obama would cancel the Congressional picnic. He had his party last weekend with the people who care about him!

          • June 16, 2015 at 4:50 pm

I really don’t know if they thought they would just give TPA up or kick the can down the road to August when they must do something about both the Highway Bill & TAA. PBO is likely fed up with waiting, who knows. But I’m with you – just get it done now and stop the games!

As I said to Gus on Twitter, is that an excuse for Sanders to speak like that about AAs?

There is No excuse. And you’re right—what is he saying in private if he is this wrong in public??

Also, it is important to consider the history and source and timing.
“As far as I know he is not a muslim”

please do not confuse me with a Bernie apologist.
That is not what I am saying or what i mean.

What should be looked at is that Bernie is trailing Clinton in NH by only 10 points now. It was 50 points a few weeks ago.

        • June 16, 2015 at 4:27 pm

I expect Bernie to do well in what amounts to his own backyard ( I take polls a year before the actual primaries with a gigantic gain of salt) but after New Hampshire it’s over for him. The Democratic base steps onto the playing field big time and he’s done imo. It was always going to be tough. Making idiotic statements just made it that much worse.

Needless to say Vicki, I’m not excusing Hillary for that, it was disgusting and shameful – I have no enthusiasm for her, but if she’s the nominee I hope she’s elected. But Sanders is held up as Mr Purity by emoprogs – and funny, emoprogs never seem too concerned about racism either.

        Hi Ms. Chips and TODers!

Personally, I took Sander’s remark as an insult. Are AA’s so stupid that we don’t vote on issues? If so they why didn’t we vote for Keyes, West, Cain, if color what’s important? I asked as much of him on Twitter.

When people like Sanders are speaking about AA like that in public – you can only imagine the ugly things they say behind closed doors!

Excuse me while I go barf…#DISGUSTING

I asked the House Democrats, Nancy Pelosi et al on Twitter if they don’t want TPP, which fixes NAFTA then what is their alternative. Is it the same as the Republicans alternative to “ObamaCare”? ugh

The O Foundation has not yet started their fundraising campaign but you can make individual donations if you like.

If you wish to make a contribution by check you may do so by mailing it to the following address. Please make checks payable to The Barack Obama Foundation.
