I do understand that – sometimes I think the waiting and wondering is worse that what is actually wrong! A couple of my older relatives used to diagnose themselves on the net – and rarely if ever did they get it right. I refuse to go there & just wait for my doc to pass on the news. Often it is much better than we think – so hoping all goes well for you.

Yesterday I came down with the “common cold”. First time in years I got a cold – after having a flu injection & now they seem to come every year. No idea where this one came from – can’t even blame the grandbabe as sadly (for us) they are living further away & we don’t see them as often as we did.

You are so right about self-diagnosis, 99. It can drive you nuts imaging what something could be from the information on the net, but unless you’re a trained MD you have no idea what the generalized information means for your own health. That’s why, I, too stay away from it.

I pushed “post” too early. Meant to say I hope you feel better soon. Colds at any time of the year are a bummer. Pamper yourself and get well soon.

Thanks jackie – We were supposed to be going on a road trip to an 80th birthday – but I’m glad we cancelled out – tis much easier to be miserable at home. We are going to do the trip in a few weeks and have a private party with the birthday “girl” ๐Ÿ™‚

            • June 12, 2015 at 9:25 am

99ts, I agree with you in principle about using the internet “only” to diagnose oneself. However, the Mayo Clinic website is very valuable in provide information to discuss with your Physician. Just saying.

I’m sure there are some positives RanMan – I just had some relatives frieking themselves out for no valid reason – so tend to stay clear unless I’m looking for how to dress a wound or the content of a medicine sort of stuff.

I’ve always preferred to let the doc tell me what he/she thinks. I am somewhat weird in that I really don’t want to know the details so rarely ask questions.

Lots of job stress for other than entry level jobs. I had a couple of jobs where I was on call virtually 24 X7 & expected to put 10 hours in at the office on week days – no idea now why I did it. Mr 99 got it right – he refused promotions cause he wanted to be the scientist – not the manager. Hard to refuse the money but it did make our lives much more enjoyable. The days of “sun surf sand” are sadly disappearing – especially with RWNJ government.

Rules that prevent net firms from blocking or slowing down online traffic can go ahead, a US federal appeals court has ruled.

A three-judge panel said it will not postpone implementation of net neutrality rules, despite opposition from firms such as Verizon and AT&T.

Federal Communications Commission chairman Tom Wheeler called it “a victory for internet consumers”.

But it is unlikely to be the end of legal action from opponents.

Mr Wheeler, who pushed the rule changes through, welcomed the decision.

“Starting Friday, there will be a referee on the field to keep the internet fast, fair and open,” he said.

“Blocking, throttling, pay-for-priority fast lanes and other efforts to come between consumers and the internet are now things of the past. The rules also give broadband providers the certainty and economic incentive to build fast and competitive broadband networks.”

Good morning all! It will be interesting to see if Boehner brings the TAA and TPP to a floor vote today. I’m trying not to stress out about it, the ACA ruling, or any other political issues today. Yesterday’s lung procedure really wiped me out and I’m trying to keep as upbeat an attitude as possible for the sake of sanity and health. Whatever happens, our President will know what to do and that’s the one certainty we can all rely on.

That 2004 photo is one I never saw before. I love it. Thanks, Chips.

Jackie, the beauty of all of this is that the American people know that President Obama has their best interest in mind. The American also people know that the ACA and the TAA and TPP is all about trying to make things better for everyday working folk. I don’t think President Obama is particularly worried about the vote for the TAA and the TPP or how the Supreme Court rules on the ACA. President Obama goes to sleep every night knowing in his heart that he’s tried his best to help the average American citizen.

    MOOOrning, TOD.

This had everyone’s jaw dropping last night. That moment a white woman in Spokane, Washington pretended to be Black for years and profited off it. She was exposed by her parents. The lengths she went to, to pretend to be Black…wow. The black face (she perfected it), her online presence (so many pictures passing off black culture as hers), passing off a black man as her father, profiting, erasing, and occupying space while other black women were struggling, having a business on the side which benefitted mainly because she passed herself off as Black.

    OMG.

There truly is no difference in blue and red states when it comes to taking advantage of minorities.

    • 69 vcprezofan2
      June 12, 2015 at 11:35 am

My question would be – Does she go back and forth or does she just ‘remain black’ in all her endeavours? Because (playing devil’s advocate, or tongue in cheek, or whatever), given that we are becoming more accepting of transgender individuals, couldn’t there be space for ‘trans-racial’ individuals (other than *genuine* ‘trans-racials’)? Do we know if this woman hasn’t felt black all her life? Maybe there was no intent to defraud, just to live like who she thought she was? At a glance at her credentials she seems more knowledgeable about the black woman’s life/struggle than some of us are, which would suggest she has done a fair amount of research.

      • June 12, 2015 at 12:01 pm

It appears she lives totally with a Black identity. She’s lied for years on job applications other legal documents, fake black father and children and on and on. But the worst of it is lying about acts of racism perpetrated against her. Some sort of attention seeking personality disorder. Why not be a civil rights activist as who you really are?

        • 71 vcprezofan2
          June 12, 2015 at 12:29 pm

‘Why not be a civil rights activist as who you really are?’

But, do we know if this isn’t who she really is….to herself?
Also, you and I both know she would have had major ‘credibility’ issues if she’d tried to be an advocate for black women ‘as who she really’ is.

My take is we never know what’s in the heart of someone, OG, and given all the people who show one person outside while living another person on the inside, I don’t want to be too hasty to judge.

In addition, I feel we shouldn’t forget the fact that many, many ‘blacks’ are white in colour. Heck, haven’t we also had blacks ‘passing’ over the years, and doing so to take advantage of opportunities? I haven’t given the matter much thought or researched what this woman has done, but how is her ‘passing’ as black different from blacks ‘passing’ as white? I’m surprised she would want to other than as an experiment [John H. Griffin’s “Black Like Me”], so I’d be interested in hearing *her* real motivation.

Her parents finally outing her now is troubling and suspiciously ilogical. Didn’t anybody go to school with her? In the age of the Social Media, with so many folks knowing so much of everyone, how did she ever get away with ID’s, and in obtaining a Driver’s License? Wow, in 2015? Seriously?

Good morning all. Hope all of you are doing well, and jackieg, yes the waiting is hard, but know that we are all with you when you receive your diagnosis. It is always good to know, not wonder.
Reading the tweets about PBO’s visit to the baseball game last night, I know why the Democrats are having a hard time with presidential possibilities. We frankly just all want PBO to be president for four more years, there is no one who can replace him, and we are having to come to grips with that fact. It is not just democrats, either. He would win in a bigger landslide in 2016 I firmly believe, if he could run. However, for his and his family’s sakes, I’m glad he can’t run, so he doesn’t even have to make the decision. They have given so much, they deserve to do what they decide to do and enjoy life, although, I think they have enjoyed these years too.
Like others here say….every morning I wake up, I’m thankful that Barack Obama is president of the United States, and therefore, it is a good day.

  10. June 12, 2015 at 10:02 am

Update from our trip to western NC and the annual conference for our church (UMC). The resolution regarding same-sex marriage ended up getting tabled indefinitely. The Bishop managed to work it so that it was LATE on Wednesday when it even came up. Sure it was planned that someone would make the motion to table. There was some discussion, but because it was SO late and HOT, people just wanted to ghet it over with. It will, however, HAVE to be dealt with at our General Conference in 2016. The delegation we are sending (lay and clergy) are mostly conservative. The first day we arrived, one of the first things I was handed was a list of conservatives (lay and clergy) to vote for to go to GC. Get this, once we got in our seats, my husband took that list, went through the list of nominees and marked everyone of the lay people as those to NOT vote for!!!! I am doubtful that he will ever be able to vote for a D, especially for president. However, he has definitely changed this last year.

Hiking the AT as a chaplain changed his attitude about a lot of things. He had to be very conscious to being a good listener and to never judge anyone………to let people know he was open to anything the person needed/wanted to share and that he wouldn’t judge. I also think the other thing that has changed is that he now totally sees the craziness of the extreme in the Republican Party. We’ve had numerous discussions about what the extreme wing of any group can and does do and how destructive it is. Believe he has finally accepted that the Republican Party of today is not anywhere close to what it was when he became interested in politics……..early-mid 60’s.

It was above the median forecast of 91.5 among economists polled by Reuters.

The survey’s barometer of current economic conditions climbed to 106.8 from 100.8 and above a forecast of 96.5.

The survey’s gauge of consumer expectations rose to 86.8 from the final May reading of 84.2 and an expected 85.

I believe Howard Dean is a lobbyist and cannot not be trusted at all.

      • June 12, 2015 at 11:12 am

I agree with this. Democrats can easily talk about the jobs that will be created, how this will benefit unions globally and all the safeguards in the TPP. But for some reason they’re clinging on to a world that doesn’t exist anymore.

        • 109 57andfemale
          June 12, 2015 at 11:56 am

What benefits American unions is a level playing field, which means better worker conditions worldwide. Sure we could “protect” our jobs here, but we need global markets, etc. And there is NO political will for the kind of protectionism that worked 50 years ago.

Let’s also understand that unions “protected” their workers into virtual extinction of their products. We were very slow to re-tool the auto industry when Japan was showing the way, because unions refused to be part of the solution. This is 50-year old thinking, without a powerful Democratic party that could make this work. We need solutions for the 21st century!!!!

That these traitorous Dems would stand up this strong against the GOP. Nooooo, just PBO.

Mayor de Blasio, who has said he wonโ€™t endorse Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton until heโ€™s convinced sheโ€™s got a plan to battle income inequality, is now calling on his old boss to speak out against a controversial trade deal.

Hizzoner said Thursday heโ€™s looking for a โ€œvery clear statementโ€ from Clinton opposing the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is loathed by the left but being pushed by President Obama.

โ€œI think itโ€™s very important she speak up, make clear . . . that this trade deal is unacceptable,โ€ de Blasio said on a phone call he held with reporters blasting the deal.

I am unhappy that Bill de Blasio is speaking out against the trade deal. Very unhappy!!!

His endorsement of Hillary falls in the category of an endorsement delayed is an endorsement denied. No matter what he says later on, Bill has denied her his Progressive Dem coalition based in B’klyn which HRC had been counting on.

Right after Bill’s refusal to endorse—about a month or so ago—–Hillary advisers stopped proclaiming her as a New Progressive leader. Her rollout changed dramatically. It is not surprising that the rally tomorrow will not be in a large convenient park in Brooklyn.
It will be on Roosevelt Island which is somewhat remote. Not impossible to get to. Just more difficult.
The Clinton campaign is saying they chose RI for some complicated policy issue which absolutely nobody will care about or believe.

Bill pushing Hillary now at the last second on trade is a hostile act on his part. it exposes her. and it makes me like him less.

I don’t know what de Blasio’s endgame is.
He and his ad guy—the number One best ad person working today—John did PBO’s winning anti-Mitt ads and the winningest TV ad ever–“Dante” —(ad guy is John Del Cecato) and Bill, John and David Axelrod have been absent from 2016 specific talk.
Anybody’s guess if they are waiting for VPOTUS or what. Who knows? Just clear that they are waiting for something.

I am not calling him because Bill has no vote today. Pushing Hillary seems like a cheap shot, but since I am short of facts, I will hold my fire.

          • June 12, 2015 at 12:22 pm

These guys sure don’t know how to do politics smartly. You would never catch PBO doing a move like this.

I think some are sitting on the sidelines on 2016 because even with all her donors & network, HRC’s “campaign” has been absolutely flat. I know she sees this rally at RI as her “official launch” but that just goes to serve my point. Her listening tour and refusal to face the press and the public on key issues just makes her look like a chicken. Sure she’s been touting some great issues but they are all low-hanging fruit, things you’d expect any Democrat running for POTUS to project. I sure hope she hasn’t signaled to Congressional Dems that she’s against TPP because if that’s the case, she’s an idiot.

Good day friends! This is in lieu of the sun I don’t have.

I’m having another rainy day here and the very overcast skies suggest it’s planning to settle in, so I’m more than ready and willing to share. Heck, I’d willingly give it to you, CA!

We all need to chill out on ttp/tpa/taa or whatev. It’s gonna pass with or without dems. If it passes with rethugs support, it will be another self-inflicted nose bopping for the dems. The world economy doesn’t care for partisan posturing.

    • June 12, 2015 at 11:33 am

Yup. The votes are there. And when it creates the jobs PBO says it will Dems will look extra idiotic. Someone needs to tell them the 1950’s ain’t coming back.

yup, dems totally suck at political messaging and long term strategies.

        • June 12, 2015 at 11:49 am

Republicans are crummy and cruddy but they know when TPP passes they’ll be able to run on it in 2016 and brag that they created x amount of jobs in their districts. Democrats? Well they can always run on the accomplishments of Elizabeth Warren. Yeah that’s a winning strategy. Stay losing Dems.

God, amk, you should read the angst and spin on twitter. Oh, no it won’t pass! We will defeat corporatist Obama! There are 44 Repubs who are voting against it!!!!! Good grief…….

As if there weren’t always going to be a good number of GOP who won’t give PBO the right time of day, much less any authority.

I think it will be close. I’m not ready to calm down. But this self-destruction of Dems who refuse to read or listen or learn, is driving me insane.

Me too. I have been blocked by several fellow Dems because I support President Obama on this. I trust him more than any other Dem because he has earned it. he has always been on the side of “we, the people”..

An Israeli military investigation has cleared its forces of wrongdoing over the deaths of four Palestinian boys in an attack in Gaza during the 2014 war.

It concluded the boys, killed in missile strikes on a beach, had been mistaken for Hamas militants preparing to attack Israeli forces.

At the time, the incident drew widespread condemnation.

What was the point of the investigation? Kinda like prosecutors in the USA doing an investigation of cops for wrong doing….we know what the results will be….

Just to give you an idea how the world market is at present. I am in bertcertland to win a contract where my competitors are from europe, uk, china and south africa. See anyone missing there?

    • June 12, 2015 at 11:54 am

OMG, this is so basic and important and yet the Democrats are cowering in the corner over NAFTA but refuse to change it.

What makes me crazy about this b.s. with TPP: sure, maybe you could “protect” American jobs if there was political will to do so, but there isn’t! We aren’t going to impose tariffs, it would cut into McConnell’s investment portfolio. We aren’t going to invest in workers, infrastructure, education and R & D. How the hell do you build innovation, industry and jobs with stupid workers, no infrastructure and no investment in education and research and development?

      The whole thing is NUTS.

AMK the far-only-if-it’s-perfect-left is afraid if USA was in competition the contracted work would be done in China or some other country. They don’t see the benefit of the work possibly being done in the USA.

Easy to say, OG, but try not to worry too much while you wait. Hope for the best. Plus, you don’t want to throw away 2 or 3 weeks when you could be ‘happy’ or calm before you get the results, whatever they may be.
