And does furst even matter when it’s just you and I jabbering at each other? Where is everyone?

🙂 They’re probably all partying on a beach somewhere – apart from VC, she’s probably shoveling snow.

A-hem. Some of us were out on the flippin’ freeway, driving our 15 year old American car to get the engine ready to pass the emissions test, required every two years. Which we passed! Yay! Then to the car wash, the filling station. And finally home for a welcome cup of Yorkshire tea. Whew. This was a big day for mp! Glad to be home, got already out there! Bbl.

I know, and the guy who tested her kept saying; “Great Car! “Great Car”, coz she is pretty and clean and well-kept. But I didn’t have the heart to tell him, UhUh, if it was a GREAT CAR, I wouldn’t be in an emissions station at all! To me, a Great Car, nowadays, only means a Tesla. Darn it, the more I see of them, the more I am just fascinated, and I don’t know why we can’t all be driving cars without gasoline powered engines. Earth would settle down pretty quickly if we could end the addiction. As it is, with this weird heat smashing into us, I fear for the future. I feel we just don’t have as long as we think we have. 😦 ❤

just an observation, but the president sure seemed relaxed and to enjoy his trip to germany.

also, Is it just me, or does it seem that these types of G7 or Nato, or whatever meetings there are, have alot more production and substance to them now? It seems to me that OUR president has played a big role in making these things more than just photo ops and blather. \

I love this picture because the president seems so relaxed and seems to enjoy seeing these other leaders pick up on his lead and run with it. Coming up with ideas together and working on common issues, together.

Of course, the tea parties loved to tease our president about him being a community organizer. but look who is laughing now, as our president successfully community organizes the entire world?

      GA Kid Kanga,

Had the same comment on the first thread of the day — MSM who pounce on body language are strangely (snark) on PBO’s easy manner this morning.

PBO’s body language says, “Yes! The USA got what it wanted from this brief G7 meeting…”

      Commitments from industrialized nations to:
-extend sanctions against Russia which expire next month
-signal the end of fossil fuel reliance
-plant the seed for increased exports to participating countries

Of course war-mongering MSM have latched ONLY on developing military strategy against ISIL.

Drives me nuts that terrorism has planted a firm foothold in the United States (perpetrated by white supremacists lynch mobs which MSM would have you believe died almost a century ago) but is completely ignored by MSM — they only have eyes for “Islamic Terror.”

I think these trips out of the country are good for him emotionally and mentally, and are physically relaxing, no matter how much he works. He gets to work with reasonable people, who respect him and look to him for leadership……what a concept! I know he’s sick and tired of dealing with mean Republicans and emotional Democrats. I look for him to travel out of the country a lot more in the next eighteen months……I wouldn’t blame him if he MOVED somewhere!!!!!

I DON’T WANT HIM TO BE AROUND HATEFUL PEOPLE….UNFORTUNATELY…MANY OF THEM ARE IN THE COUNTRY HE REPRESENTS….WHEREVER HE IS OR LANDS…I WANT HIM TO BE MOST HAPPY!

    • June 8, 2015 at 5:31 pm

carolyn POTUS is a grown man he can handle the mean Republicans and emotional Democrats. If he couldn’t he wouldn’t have run for the job.

      • June 8, 2015 at 5:33 pm

Despite all the B.S. he has had to deal with he has done a darn good job.

          June 8, 2015 at 5:42 pm

I know he can handle it…..he has for seven years, But, I like to see him so relaxed with people who obviously respect him and LIKE him. Handling the kind of abuse he has to deal with can wear down even the strongest. That’s why I think these visits recharge him and refresh him mentally and emotionally. He needs them.

My first thought when I saw the picture Carolyn – a group of people that want to discuss and compromise – and from very different parts of the political spectrum – the GOP have NO idea what the country will be losing at the end of 2016 – an absolute waste having to negotiate with such idiots in congress

In the picture were the cop is taking down the 14 year old black girl, did anyone fine out who that white guy is with the big stomach? He is wearing light color shirt with jean shorts on and old looking sneakers on. Is he a under cover cop? Just who is he because I didn’t like the picture where he is standing right close over that child.

    • June 8, 2015 at 5:26 pm

I just do not like the way those black kids were treated by that cop. They have no respect for our men, women or children. One day before he leave office it might be time for another one of those race speech by President Obama. Maybe more then one, maybe afew of them.

I have been wondering about him. If you watch the whole video he is there by the cop and not doing anything for those children. I believe he is as much to blame and the cop.

The weather here is becoming scary and it’s getting black as night outside. There’s a tornado watch for the area and severe thunderstorms. I hope people make it home safely from work and I hope we don’t lose power as everything in our home is electric. The storms this year are many times more intense than I’ve seen in the many years we’ve lived here. I have the feeling it’s going to be a very long night.

This time, JackieG, I hope your feeling is wrong. 😉 Crossing fingers here that everyone in the area of this turbulence travels home safely, and that you won’t lose your electricity. We had a couple of really heavy downfalls in my immediate area yesterday and the day before. It was raining heavily this morning too but right now there’s a bit of sun and the roads are dry – not so my new veg ‘garden’. I really don’t know why I am bothering this year, after the feast the animals had last year!

So funny you should ask because I have “a story” already just for you. Yes, they got here a little while ago, and are down at my son’s house for a bit. The little trooper and his Mommy escorted my son’s two younger kids on the plane for their summer visit (girl 12, boy 14). When my 14-y/o grandson sat down on the plane next to a “60-something” woman, the little 4-y/o trooper said to him (out loud, totally mortifying the teenager – Ha!), “I see you found that girlfriend you were looking for.” I asked what the woman did, and they said, “She just looked stunned.”

It’s gonna be a fun two weeks with him around, for sure! And a great summer. 🙂

“make sure that citizens, even outside of the city of McKinney, understand that they’re going to do the right thing and take corrective action and that this was not racially motivated.””

Quote from link – problem as I see it – this WAS “racially motivated” – no other way to describe it – both the people who called the police and the police were “racially motivated”

And I love that picture Ms Chips – guy on the left has an interesting expression on face 🙂 PBO looks relaxed – obviously easier to negotiate world issues than get sense from the GOP at home.

A good piece on what happened in Texas

    …………………..

Black children are not even safe from police violence at a pool party

    Steven W Thrasher

Watching a young black woman, vulnerable and almost naked in her bathing suit, being manhandled by a cop made me cry

Over the weekend, a video surfaced that showed police in McKinney, Texas violently controlling kids on a suburban street and pulling a gun on a young black girl. After I heard about it, it took a few hours before I could screw up the courage to watch it, because I knew it would make me cry. And it did.

The video made me cry because it showed me how black children are not allowed to play. How they’re not allowed to just be fucking kids. How their play becomes criminalized and how they’re socialized to become black adults who internalize that their very breathing selves are criminal.

The video (and the follow up interview with its shooter, Brandon Brooks) made me cry because they showed how a public space like a pool becomes the domain of a security guard with no accountability. Who calls the police. Who quickly assume guilt on every black child in sight.

It made me cry to see a gun pulled on these children. I only had a police officer begin to pull a gun on me once, but it scared the shit out of me and altered my interactions with police forever – and I was an adult. How scarred will these children be after such trauma?

It made me cry because, even though I knew before watching that no one was going to get shot, I couldn’t shake the terror that one of those kids was going to wind among the Guardian’s count of police killings. If my terror was palpable despite only viewing what happened on video, how much terror must those poor kids have endured?

It made me cry to see a young black woman, vulnerable and almost naked in her bathing suit, being manhandled by a cop. Who tossed her around like her body was his property. Who listened to her sobbing for her mother, yet pushed her face down into the grass, kept his knee in her back and handcuffed her.

A vanity film about the history of Fifa has flopped in the US, taking just $607 (£397) in its opening weekend.

United Passions was funded by about £17m of Fifa cash, and was completed before corruption charges were made against 14 of its officials in May.

Starring Tim Roth as Sepp Blatter, the hagiography of football’s governing body has had damning reviews.

The movie’s budget was estimated at between $25m – $32m (£16- £21m), with Fifa said to have put up about three-quarters of the money.

It debuted in the States on Friday, on just 10 screens.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the FilmBar cinema in Phoenix reported takings of just $9, meaning only one person bought a ticket.
