Good morning all. I hope we can see our VP Biden laugh like that again. Seeing him and his family at yesterday’s ceremonies tore my heart.

On another note, I have a followup echo cardiogram this am and I’m hoping that I’ve made progress reducing the fluid in my heart. Fingers crossed.

    • 7 Roberta in MN
      June 5, 2015 at 7:44 am

What meds did they give you to take the fluids away? Since I had pneumonia I have t take a water pill if I go past 2-3 pounds in 3 days. It is not easy. I will have to talk to the Doc about changing this. I can hear my lungs when I have too much fluid build up so on to the pills.
Good luck with your tests today Jackie. Will be thinking of you. This heart tuff is no damned fun. (((hugs)))

      • 8 jackiegrumbacher
        June 5, 2015 at 7:54 am

Thanks, Roberta. The fluid in both my heart and lungs is the result of the viral infection that first attached my intestines. I’ve been on anti-inflammatory pills since it’s infection related.

        • June 5, 2015 at 9:09 am

Oh my gosh, jackie. Sounds like you have something similar to what I had last Fall but it didn’t include my intestines. I can’t imagine having that complication as well. I took both an anti-biotic for a week and then anti-inflammatory for several weeks. I became very anemic and was completely depleted. It took me 6 weeks to recover and I could hardly do a thing except bathe and rest.

My heart goes out to you. An echocardiogram is actually kind of fascinating. The pumping of our heart actually sounds like a washing machine!! I hope you’re getting the best care. I will be thinking of you. {{{{HUGS}}}} Please let us know how it goes.

            June 5, 2015 at 9:21 am

Thanks, meta. The complication of the intestines has meant that eating is problematic, so I’ve been struggling to get enough nutrients to fight the infection. It is very debilitating and I rest a lot. This is a follow-up echo. The first time, I couldn’t believe how hard our hearts work every minute of the day. It’s an amazing miracle.

            • June 5, 2015 at 9:27 am

Yes, super amazing. Oh, you must be feeling even more weak without proper nourishment. Hoping for good news today. The viruses this year have been super nasty.

          June 5, 2015 at 11:17 am

jg, what you are going through sounds a lot like what my husband went through last fall. He was told he had diverticulitis…..without any tests….the antibiotics tore him apart…..went to the emergency had a ctscan taken, showed no diverticulitis, dr. there said he was not sick…he WAS…..terrible diarrhea…..two weeks later back in the ER…..he had C.Diff. Another round of antibiotics, which cleared that up, we think…..dr. did no post tests. Seemed okay for a couple of months, then in Jan began to be strange…..physically and mentally…..had what I called the night terrors. Knew we had to change doctors, we did. then in March was diagnosed with pneumonia…..has been on antibiotics since March 8, still has infection…….had terrible edema……is on diuretics every day…..the infection is almost gone. His new doctor tests him every two weeks. Cannot walk on his own….uses a walker…..we don’t know which of the diseases he’s had has caused that…..is now in physical therapy…….we go for a test again Tuesday…….but we know he has been sick for over a year. When he told his doctor a year ago about his constipation at that time, he was told take Metamucil, with no directions, or explanation. By the time he got to the doctor in August, his intestines were in a total uproar. I know what you mean about not being able to eat……..he was on a basically liquid diet for the diverticulitis, taking strong antibiotics, with nothing to coat the stomach. He ate yogurt until he couldn’t tolerate it any more, he took probiotics, which he still does…..once the intestines are involved you have a vicious cycle.

I hope the doctors today can find answers for you. We think we are on the way…..I have said the pneumonia was a blessing in disguise, because something definite was wrong, and he has been given enough antibiotics to deal with all the infection in his body.

It has been a rough year, but the last visit the doctor said he can see light at the end of the tunnel. For that we are grateful.

To see a man who could toss railroad ties over his shoulder, move pianos and sofas alone, reduced to walking with a walker, and not able to stand for any length of time is heartbreaking. But…..I didn’t lose him during this time, which I thought was going to happen several times…so I am very thankful.

I am very interested in your diagnosis today. Blessings on you.

    • June 5, 2015 at 9:14 am

          June 5, 2015 at 9:55 am

          Linda. Surely you know this:

MSNBC is a tabloid style entity that exists SOLELY to drive the profits of the entertainment parts of the NBC Empire. That is why starting with Ronan Farrow, and ( honestly, before that with Lawrence) every “news” show has movie and/or TV and/or book promotions. All of them are steeped in star and celebrity gossip including a gossipy approach to everything they can manage to do.

NBC’s CEO said the goal of NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Universal Pictures, all their stations etc. was to promote—-in their word—–Symphony.

If your interest is in accurate journalism or even the news of the day you must go elsewhere.

      • June 5, 2015 at 8:51 am

Linda, now we know why CNN BULLSHIT poll came out about G.W. being more like then President Obama. The media want to be talking about a lameduck President, but instead they have a President who is still getting things done. The job numbers won’t be talk about, it will be UE went up, and that B.S. poll of CNN. And they will drill into stupid people head about the fight against ISIS being a failure, when I seem to recall the President never saying defeating ISIS would be a slam dunk, he didn’t give any time table, because he understand all the factors that are involve. There is no easy solution, unless they want to invade Iraq like that failure G.W. Bush did 100,000 American troops.

Not just NBC, it’s #MSM, aka-corporate greed America.

This news was buried after a commercial on the CBS “world news roundup” (extended version of network radio news) at 10 am EDT, and the “report” focused on an uptick in unemployment percentage (@JustinWolfers did in his tweets), but omitted:

GGail is lucky enough to live at the foothill of an 11K mountain, so her area is fortunate enough to get some rain from our usual June gloom weather pattern.

Zero attempt at rain here (northwest of GGail), despite the lack of sunshine here for awhile. And when it did rain last month, we got less than 1/4″ (I set out buckets to catch the precious substance, and was quite disappointed to see the results 😦 ).

US Media is always eager to overlook GOPers wrong doing. Just like they ignored GH Bush’s affairs during his Term and Laura Bush’s smoking habits and her stay for days at a DC Hotel away from GW Bush. No Dem could be forgiven for those since WJC’s terms.

Unions Subdued, Scott Walker Turns to Tenure at Wisconsin Colleges
    JUNE 4, 2015

CHICAGO — Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, who began building a national profile four years ago by sharply cutting collective bargaining rights for most government workers, has turned his sights to a different element of the public sector: state universities.

As Mr. Walker takes steps toward announcing his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination, he and leaders in Wisconsin’s Republican-held Legislature have called for changes that would give a board largely picked by the governor far more control over tenure and curriculum in the University of Wisconsin System.

Critics said the proposal, which is championed by Republicans in the Legislature, would burnish Mr. Walker’s conservative credentials as he is scrutinized by likely primary voters.

As a new and unknown governor in 2011, Mr. Walker quickly drew national attention by announcing legislation to limit collective bargaining rights for most public-sector unions and require workers to pay more for their health care and pensions.

He followed that battle — which included surviving a recall effort — by signing other measures that attracted notice from conservatives nationally: new limits on early voting, the expansion of school vouchers and, this year, legislation barring unions from requiring employees in private workplaces to pay the equivalent of union dues.

Republicans say the new proposal will give university leaders more autonomy and encourage savings and efficiency at a moment when the state is aiming to cut spending to balance its budget. But the plan has caused professors to express alarm.
