Men of color are hit especially hard. Studies find that white male and female job seekers with records have better employment chances than black or Hispanic applicants with records.

The REDEEM Act (Record Expungement Designed to Enhance Employment) will give Americans convicted of non-violent crimes a second chance at the American Dream. The legislation will help keep kids who get into trouble out of a lifetime of crime and help adults who commit non-violent crimes become more self-reliant and less likely to commit future crimes.

Really Cameron Crowe? How old are you – 60? and you are just now becoming aware that people want to see?
“If any part of her fine characterization has caused consternation and controversy, I am the one to blame,” he added.
The filmmaker concluded his blog post by sharing that the “Aloha” outcry helped him realize moviegoers want to see themselves reflected on screen.
“I am grateful for the dialogue,” Crowe said. “And from the many voices, loud and small, I have learned something very inspiring.”
“So many of us are hungry for stories with more racial diversity, more truth in representation, and I am anxious to help tell those stories in the future.”

No rain today, thank goodness. Another day where those who lost a lot can continue the sobering task of rebuilding their lives without more floods to hamper their efforts.

Thanks for checking in, Ms. J’OB. Hope things are good in your neck of the woods?

Glad to hear things are calming a bit there. I’m sure it’ll take everyone a long time to “get over” that, even if they weren’t personally impacted as harshly.

All’s well here in the Midwest for now – thanks!

This officer is *sick*! Anybody who did what he did in the manner in which he did it cannot be mentally healthy. It might have been difficult to prove that *his* bullets were fatal but it sure shouldn’t be difficult to determine that he has a few humane screws that are missing, or that he treated bodies with animal-like disrespect. There should be a legal name for that – Baltimore’s SA Mosby could likely find it.

How can two unarmed people participate in an “exchange”?
Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams were killed in the exchange.

Twitter peeps, y’all need to check Mediate on their word choice.

The ‘exchange’ between the cops? I have no quarrel with Mediate because whatever they call it, my view is that this creep should be held accountable for his rambo-like attack and that rests with the justice system.

Good tweet. I think I heard the county prosecutor has appealed the not-guilty verdict-by-judge, too.
