        Nickelby does this.

Careful 57, GGail will accuse Nickelby of being a deviant.

While I have ya, 57 – you know the way garlic is a no-no for dogs? What about wild garlic? I’m afraid to Google. Just realized where I take Danny by the river is COVERED in wild garlic at the moment, which might explain why his paws are currently smelling of it. It’s much milder, isn’t it? Before I nervously Google, do you know if it’s safe?

All close members of the onion family (shallots, onions, garlic, scallions, etc.) contain compounds that can damage dogs’ red blood cells if ingested in sufficient quantities. A rule of thumb is β€œthe stronger it is, the more toxic it is.” Garlic tends to be more toxic than onions, on an ounce-for-ounce basis.

            No on the garlic!

            • June 1, 2015 at 6:35 pm

Thanks a million DF, I was finally brave enough to Google it – was afraid I couldn’t bring him back there while the garlic was blooming, it’s his fave place on earth.

The main thing is that he doesn’t eat the wild garlic, I was just worried that if he was running through it and then started licking his paws it might harm him. But, as you said, it’s only larger quantities that could be an issue, so I’ll keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t start chomping on it.

The internet can be head-wrecking – I always just accepted that garlic could be seriously dangerous to dogs if eaten in large-ish quantities, here’s a site that says it’s not dangerous at all.

She is one of my favorite sports reporters in the business. I’ve followed her career from her early days at ESPN to now being the #1 correspondent at TNT Sports & CBS NCAA tourney coverage. I wish CNN didn’t screw up her weekly show that used to air on Friday nights (it would air one week…then get bumped for no reason the next). That show was a unique blend of politics/sports & extended sit-down interviews. If you notice all the athletes respect her too….they know she is fair but not a pushover. She is basically the only person Lebron will give an interview to after getting burned by the media when he originally left Cleveland.

        Rafael Nadal Parera…….why?
Didn’t he lose a $300K plus watch in 2014 or 2013 in a Hotel in either France or in Australia? It was later ‘Found” more like returned.
I know Rafa is a bit introverted and has these repetitious behaviors. C’mon Rafa, this one is just too silly. Why?
Your new and latest obsession? The watch is totally ugly looking.
Concentrate on playing well, better and getting healthy……please.
        Ranked 6th now.
It took him 4 sets to defeat Jack Sock today.

    Hi TOD.
Away all day and came home to the News That is Nutz.
Jeb, who doesn’t know what the SS requirement age actually is, opines that it should be raised to 70. Idiot!! Rich thief!!!
What should be raised or eliminated is the Cap on SS earnings which let the rich and selfish keep more what they earn. Raise the maximum amount from 100 thousand or so, to 500 thousand or so and the shortage of revenue issue is over.

Not to mention the Roosevelt Island venue. Brooklyn isn’t working out the way Clintonland had planned, clearly. Blame it on de Blasio.

Chips, I have a big favour to ask of you! Would you **please** cut this video starting at ~1:00:00 and ending at ~1:04:45? It’s the President’s answer to a question we have discussed here often – the reason to enter politics/public service. I’m thinking it would be great to have this segment standing on its own (and in reserve) to *share* with prospective candidates who want to know what voters are really looking for. In fact, IMO it would make a great segment to feature in a post somewhere along the line.

Long explanation short = Pleeease cut out this segment for meeeeee TODobots! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

Thanks! A lot! PBO really gave the perfect answer (because it’s true, and exemplified by his presidency) as to what a good political leader needs to have, and question and answer was less than 5 minutes. I hope everyone here will not only watch it again, but will share it widely during the campaign season.

Hi, Susanne. It seemed such a perfect response to a discussion we had here not too long ago.

aiyeee— sorry it took me so long to reply! our volcanoes are pretty calm for the moment. the lava level in the caldera has dropped, and though there is still a surface flow, it is sluggish and not threatening any structures. in short… all’s well here, thanks!

NP, Susanne. It’s kinda neat that our ‘village mail’ will be here waiting even though we inhabit different time zones. Glad to hear that the volcanoes have decided to calm down, so no one has to be displaced this time.

          June 1, 2015 at 8:17 pm

It’s interesting to me that both (WH & ABC) media zero in on the ‘willing to lose’ portion without the very important first part of his answer – which was to have a clear view of what you stand for; a core of things you will not compromise on. This is why I would love everyone here to watch his complete answer to this question. You’ll see what I mean when you do.

BTW, I wish you’d stop saying your eye caught this or that (hoaxing us) when you share all these pieces that others miss. There’s no way *your two* eyes would catch all that you catch without the help of the eyes of the 2 or 3 able, (and unacknowledged) assistants that you have. Would love to know how they are compensated and if they’d form the first volunteers in my as yet unformed establishment.

In addition to the truth in your tweet Miz Chips, what immediately struck me after seeing the Vanity Fair cover is the highly stylized and sexualized nature of the photo; the madonna type satin bustier, all the exposed skin, propping up “the girls” and the coy pose. He became a woman and she in turn is presented the world over in this one-dimensional “sex kitten/video vixen” stereotype. I wonder if this was happening in reverse, would we be seeing a half naked guy in his Calvins on the cover posing so coyly? Kind of makes me sad…

      • June 1, 2015 at 7:19 pm

Great point Purpleshoes, it’s as if they felt presenting her as a ‘sex kitten’ was saying, ‘wow, look, she’s a real woman!’ Because, as ever, that’s what a real woman looks like to them, just a sexualised object. I’d have preferred a beautiful portrait of her face, maybe in black and white, to focus on her as the person, not a pouty predictable ‘sex goddess’ pile of crap.
