Thanks for the recap NW.
Thanks a traaaaaaaaaaaaazillion Nerdy – damn it, those hands! 🙂
I know Chips. Love those hands. 🙂
I am trying to remain calm, COS. Ish.
Paging sailor to isle 1, center seat – bring O2 and a mat, stat!! 😀 😀 😀
Sheer BRILLIANCE NW!!!! TY for another magnificent PD’s summary!!!
Bring enough for all of us 😀
😀
Ha – Sir Bob, you beat me to it…I was just paging the good sailor downthread! 🙂 🙂
🙂 🙂
I know, sigh…….
This comment referred to POTUS’ hands.
OMG! That photo stopped me dead in my tracks! Those HANDS!!! 😀
He really does have great hands.
🙂
Nerdy, I loved the summary of the questions–they were actually good–and loved the photos. So glad our President visited the Shrine of our Lady of Charity. He always knows the right thing to do.
🙂
I’m jealous of my POTUS. He’s navigating Twitter while I’m sitting on the sidelines 😦
Oh.Those.Hands /swoon
So distracted by unohoo hands, that I forgot to thank the hands that put this Post together – thank you NW 🙂
Paging Captain Yardarm with the naughty mats! I saw him earlier this morning – where did he go?!? 🙂 🙂
Sorry hf. I had to duck out for a bit of therapy…….Those hens have permanent mats strapped on. They don’t need a new set. 😆
HA – I think you’re right about the *hens.* Hope your therapy went well! 🙂
My body is throbbing with pain. Time for some rum & Tylenol. 🙂
Uhm…Rum & Tylenol? Hehe..Are you sure that this is what the Drs recommended for your pain? 🙂 🙂
Tried and true home remedy, thank you very much!
LOL – okay then. I won’t argue with ya 🙂

Wow!
Any more news on this?
Thanks, Meta 🙂
And his son is running for Aaron Schock’s congressional seat. Was thought to be a shoo-in.
Knowing how the GOP operates he probably still is a shoo-in
Didn’t realize you had posted this already, upthread! Just saw it from AP.
A little schadenfreude…….
Did I just read that Federal prosecutors indict US Speaker of the House John Boehner? Guess I was dreaming.
That is all.
Welcome home, POTUS!!
they have Ben Carson as one of the leading contenders….WHY??
People lie to pollsters? No way the GOP will nominate Ben Carson.
Yup! Herman Cain redux. At one time Herman was “leading” in the polls too…
Soon we will be calling him Casper Carson, He will soon disappear. Herman Cain needs to declare himself, there is space in the clown car. In Jamaica we say “Small up you self!” when the minivan is crowded.
Ha! Indeed Miss Pat.
People lie to pollsters or Pollsters lie to people?
🙂
ty Nerdy – wonderful recap & do hope you are staying safe amid the reality of nature overflowing its banks.
Meanwhile – I must truly be immersed in issues outside of politics and government as I’ve only just realised that the Governor of Texas and the PM of Australia share a name. We need to be saved from the abbotts
Thanks, 99ts.
This is HUGE. Thank you, FLOTUS.
Thank you FLOTUS.
“Hastert spent 20 years in the House representing Illinois, and was elected Speaker of the House in 1999 after former Speaker Newt Gingrich retired and the heir-apparent, former Rep. Bob Livingston, abruptly retired amidst charges he had carried on inappropriate sexual affairs.”
http://www.buzzfeed.com/johnstanton/former-house-speaker-dennis-hastert-indicted-on-federal-char#.wx6LrnL2p
How times change – the last republican carrying on an “inappropriate sexual affair” was elected to congress.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Sanford_disappearance_and_extramarital_affair#Post_governorship
I had totally forgotten about Bob Livingston, but suddenly thought I remembered why he resigned then and looked for the story. The trouble with Hastert’s being “in the news” again – no matter the issue – is that the RWNJs will bring up Bill Clinton’s old story again. Ugh! Here’s a little more on Livingston from wiki:
“During debate over the impeachment of Bill Clinton on December 19, 1998, Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flynt offered one million dollars for each unflattering sexual story about Republican members of congress. After one such story was made public about him by Flynt, Livingston acknowledged that he had had an affair and resigned as Speaker-elect. He challenged President Bill Clinton to resign as well. Livingston then announced he would vacate his House seat in May 1999. His leaving office came despite support from Minority Leader Dick Gephardt of Missouri that the Democrats could work with Livingston and not make a continued issue of Livingston’s affair. Livingston said that had he become Speaker, it would have been more difficult for the Republicans to carry out Clinton’s impeachment and trial. Thus, he removed himself from contention.”
Ugh, again.
I knew nothing about him jacqueline – or any of them – during the Clinton impeachment I was completely confused by US politics – with PBO on the scene I decided the time was good to learn how it all operated. Thanks for the info – seems times rarely change for the GOP – life is about sex rather than governing
You definitely picked the right time to jump in! President Obama personifies how it ought to be, for sure!
To be sure 🙂 – It took me forever to understand how primary elections worked – not many political systems have such a way of nominating candidates.
To Nerdy:
You’ve done it again!!!!!
Finger on the pulse of what is important.
Not simply the zeitgeist but the spirit underlying the events of the day.
This @POTUS and President Obama communicating directly with his people is THE BIGGEST THING in a long while.
Without filters and without pondering the political advantage of taking this position or that position, or coming out strongly for this or that, or calling for whatever—-etc. etc. etc.
Here we have the actual human being telling us in the moment what he thinks. Needs no consultants or advisers to rate the merits of what he thinks on a vast array of issues on his constituents minds
Unprecedented!!
We are very lucky to be alive and paying attention in the Age of Obama. And lucky that Nerdy and Chips are chronicling the awesomeness.
To contrast, if you want to know what Lady Walmart thinks about things go to her Issues page.
Oh, wait, what Issues page? She will have to get back to you on that.
.
THIS.
We are very lucky to be alive and paying attention in the Age of Obama. And lucky that Nerdy and Chips are chronicling the awesomeness.

AMENNNNNNNNNN!!

2.5 million followers @POTUS in what, 10 days?
Ugh! My Prius will never look the same to me after today. 😞
This may be old news, too. Just catching up with you guys!
Jeff’s response to this ugly story.
And the school treated her badly as well – the unnamed white lady called the police – we get short shrift if we call the police for minor traffic/driving events – no way they would attend based on the details I read.
Liberals are so creative … never miss a trick. 🙂
Remember our spelling bee champions are a constant and painful reminder of these racist Teabaggers’ serious spelling deficits….
This pretty much says it all.
Vomit. Yuck.
President Obama speaks for me and at least 75% of American Jews. After Bibi’s recent hateful acts, maybe not 75% but 85% of American Jews standing with PBO.
Just wow!
Absolutely breath-taking!
Simply beautiful. Thanks JER.
Dell will probably high-jack that photo of POTUS using their computer to use in their adds. Our PBO has been a one man stimulus for many companies big and small.
True dat!
It was a loaner….PBO probably uses a different brand.
😆
“U.S.A.! U.S.A.! In America, we play football with our hands and send our best lawyers to deal with FIFA. Attorney General Loretta Lynch just finished her press conference announcing a 47-count indictment against 14 FIFA officials and sports marketers. Most of the charges are for racketeering and corruption.Corruption in FIFA is an open secret. But there are two reasons why America is the only country that can really go after the international soccer cartel:
We straight don’t give a fuck about soccer.
This is how we roll, legally, post 9/11.
Let’s start with the second point. This century, America has been totally willing to flex its muscles to bring foreign nationals to justice in the United States. If we think you are a terrorist, we turn into Liam Neeson: We will look for you, we will find you, and we will kill you. But since the financial crisis, the Department of Justice has extended that logic to financial criminals. The DOJ has wide latitude to go after people and gather evidence from banks and other financial institutions. Don’t comply with the DOJ request, and your bank is going to have a hard time moving money around globally. The DOJ has a lot of experience prosecuting exactly this type of crime….continued”
I was falling asleep last night listening to BBC Radio 6, and a news bulletin came on. Of course, the main story was about Fifa. And as I was fighting off sleep, I heard the newsreader say that an anonymous source disclosed that Sepp was a target of the ongoing investigation.
Target of Swiss, U.S or both?
I watched BBC newsnight and 20 of the 30 minute program was was this. BBC radio also tweeted out a link to a profile they did our A.G. Lynch.
I don’t think people in the U.S really grasp how big of a hero A.G. Lynch is overseas…one example (although I think some of his conclusion are wishful thinking) http://www.politico.eu/article/seven-take-aways-from-the-fifa-arrests/
There can’t be a single soccer fan anywhere in the world who didn’t have the sports-lover’s equivalent of a righteous orgasm on learning of the arrest at dawn — by the Swiss police — of seven FIFA senior officials. As of this writing, these men were being readied for extradition to the United States, where they will be prosecuted for “racketeering” — a fabulous word that is America’s greatest bequest to the lexicon of criminal justice.
Here are seven short take-aways from the episode, some reflective of hard fact, others, perhaps, of wishful thinking:
The pantheon of world soccer has a new hero. To the names of Pele, Maradona, Cruyff and Messi, add another: Loretta Lynch. The US attorney general, confirmed by the Senate just three weeks ago by the most un-soccer-like score of 56-43, is destined to go down as the most consequential woman in the history of the game. She has burst into the Augean stables of FIFA with a team of industrial cleaners, determined to rid the governing body of international soccer of its legendary filth…continued
That i don’t recall. Just remember hearing “Blatter” and “target” and drifting off with a smile on my face.
I’m watching a OTL 1-hour ESPN special w/ Bob Ley on all this….Jeremy Schaap has done some of the most extensive investigative reporting from the worker deaths to corruption…check out the Sepp Bladder profile he did from a month ago if you have not: http://www.espnfc.us/fifa-world-cup/4/blog/post/2448567/sepp-blatter-and-fifa-e60-reports-with-jeremy-schaap
Ooo, thanks.
NP….some great reporting…the even got a woman who was part of the Qatari bid team (now a FBI informant) on record after turning into a whistle-blower and getting death threats.
Thank you so much, Nerdy. I was so disappointed that I missed this, but you saved the day for me.
😀 😀 😀
I’m gonna have to start following NBA again!
OT but a must.
Props to them both! And to PBO for picking them!

I loved him, he was in a “Everybody Hates Chris” episode as a date for Chris’s mom. I think he also played in the move “The Heist” with Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, etc., R.I.P, condolences to your family and friends,
replace one corrupt thug with another? yeah, that’s the ticket.
He is the King of Jordan’s brother right? ….the third dude dropped out so I don’t know who would be an alternate option…US Soccer Fed just announced they are voting for him
platini? figo? even the ill pele? going back to the same mucky pool ain’t gonna help. regardless of ussocfed’s vote.
Just saying kind of hard to vote for an alternate if nobody willing to throw their hat in the ring
