Hey VC! Thank you so much. I had a very enjoyable birthday. In fact, it’s only 8:30ish here and a friend is coming to get me for a cocktail in a bit. Don’t do that too often! Spa day is next week.
Everything sounds good, Dakota – I particularly like the idea of having an entire week to anticipate your treat (I am one of those who doesn’t open presents right away 😉 )
Just heard from my dad that he’s been chosen for the next Honor Flight out of the Quad Cities – on June 2. He’s pretty excited – as are we all. That will be a very long, but wonderful, day for him. Of course, it just won’t be as memorable without Michelle Bachman there to greet them. 🙂
In 2008, The Quad Cities formed a local chapter of the Honor Flight Network, called Honor Flight of the Quad Cities (HFQC). The purpose of HFQC is to fly America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honoring their sacrifices.
Top priority is given to WWII and Korean War Era Veterans, or any veterans with a terminal illness. The intention is to honor our local and regional heroes who were selfless in their military duty with a free trip to visit their memorials. Veterans within a 75 mile radius of the Quad Cities are encouraged to apply. The program operates on donations from organizations and individuals. Volunteers of all kinds plan and coordinate the flight events, and special guardians are trained to help escort the veterans on flight days.
We have Honor Air here in Knoxville. Operates pretty much same way. Wonderful thing. Local stations always do a story/coverage, especially when the veterans return home. So moving.
Hey y’all – my daughter just finished building this website, and it’s worth taking a look! If you like, please LIKE and Share, and theirs is a worthy cause. I will send it to The Obama Foundation as well, because one never knows!! ❤ http://www.peaksforprosperity.org/

Hi Dakota, hope you have enjoyed a very, very happy birth day! Was today your actual spa day, or are you looking forward to the treat at a later date?

Fantastic news, muscatinegal. You must be very proud of your dad.
My eyes grew to the size of melons. Then I saw that it won’t really be implemented until 2017. 🙄

Had a good birthday today. Rained most of the day today which was great. We needed that and more.
Dakota, I’m so glad you had a good birthday. Didn’t have a chance to wish you a happy one earlier, so hope you’ll accept my belated best wishes.
Thanks JackieG. Much appreciated.
boston bomber.
death qualified jury???? what the hell is that?
and why is federal govt still killing people when many state govts have abolished death sentences?
It’s incomprehensible, AMK, and very barbaric. Most civilized societies should have moved beyond this by now.
