The US State Department has said that US and Cuban negotiators will meet next Thursday to discuss re-establishing embassies in each other’s capitals.

The talks will focus on the practical measures needed to reopen embassies in Havana and Washington.

Although relations have improved in recent months a US trade embargo remains in place.

Last month President Barack Obama said Cuba would be removed from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Havana had said it needed to be taken off the list before talks to reopen embassies could begin.

In a statement the State Department said it will host a Cuban delegation on 21 May.

Rest in Peace, BB King, legendary blues singer and guitarist. Died yesterday at age 89.

    GM TODville.

Like others here, woke to the sad news of BB King’s passing. What an inspirational legend, rest in peace kind sir.

And like others, have in mind that wonderful memory of BB King when PBO sang “Sweet Home Chicago.”

    On another, stunning note:

This case has received very little media attention, and it pains me that the only outlet currently reporting this is what RWNJs consider the “rabid left.” Many conservatives roll their eyes at the mention of Mother Jones, much like Obots dismiss anything “reported” by World Net Daily and its ilk.

Unfortunately this article refers to an anonymous source, but the truth must be investigated and uncovered.

    • May 15, 2015 at 9:21 am

This case haven’t received the attention because a city hasn’t burn down, the people haven’t been into it with the police, so the media haven’t been around.

Like Mike Brown before him, they don’t even have the decency to show any sort of compassion for a black body. Black kids can get shot down like dogs in the street and left to rot, but in Tamir’s case not only was he shot down like a dog he was also left to bleed out. Can you imagine the outrage of a twelve year old white child left to bleed out after being shot by the police?

      • 29 arapaho415
        May 15, 2015 at 9:29 am

        Unimaginable, in both cases.

Everything that happened during the Tamir Rice incident should cause all Americans to hang their heads in shame. Unprovoked, immediate weapon firing in broad daylight at a child sitting in a park? Tackling the sister of the downed child? Police acting like they were on a stroll in the park while the child they shot without provocation lies helpless at their feet?

        Tamir Rice cannot be forgotten.

      • May 15, 2015 at 9:38 am

Don, you are so right. I can imagine even those liars over there at Fox having a fit if a 12 year over white kid was shot down like that. And every night, everyday CNN would have that 12 year old white boy as their lead story. That 12 year old black kid was kill in December, it is now May. It is ashame how that Rice family has been treated..

Good Morning GGail and TOD Family. It must have been a good ole time because my computer can’t open it probably because of a lot of Stevie Wonder music and videos. I wish I could have hung around….can’t stay up with Dudette anymore she is one party girl. She is someone we all have to meet and party with before TOD is no more.

Good Friday morning everyone. Been nuts in my world…end of the school year. Much to do, little time. I pretty much fall into bed every night. Exhausted from the crazy day. Almost at the finish line:)

It is:) That said, I’ll still be tutoring over the summer. That’s the BEST time to tutor, as far as I’m concerned. Kids and I don’t have work day to deal with. More focused and just all around better learning goes on:) Still and all, happy that school is nearly over!! Morning, arapaho!

What the hell kind dumb mess is that? She knows damn well, NO judicial nominee can/should overtly declare how they would rule on ANY case that might come before them in court before evidence is presented. That would prejudice them to the defendants and disqualify them from ruling on the case. Unless the idea is you really don’t care about corrupting the court.

    Good morning, TOD.
Today I’m going to expand on a comment I made about President Obama’s press conference yesterday.

The President gave a very long answer and discussion about the Gulf and Mid-East without mentioning Israel. Not even once. A reporter asked something about the Palestinians and Israelis and PBO did answer that. Benjamin Netanyahu’s name was entirely Absent .
Later we heard in the news that the Israeli Cabinet formation and ceremony was an embarrassing shambles.
Not to mention Pope Francis’ comments on The Palestinian State.
Bibi is learning the true cost of his preening march down the Congressional aisle. A moment of glory in exchange for a permanent loss of face.

Once again I am thinking to myself, “When you come at the king, you best not miss.” The arc of history has PBO’s back.

      May 15, 2015 at 11:02 am

Vicki, their problem is that they think that they won’t miss when they come at the king. Yesterday’s presser was a thing of beauty and also it was an eye-opener for me. I will admit that I let this TPP business get to me, I let what Senator Warren and Senator Brown said about President Obama take me totally off my game. I let what they said affect me emotionally as opposed to dismissing what they said the way President Obama dismissed Senators’ Warren and Brown with a few words, but yes, they always miss when they come at the king.

    Good Morning TOD Family.

As I celebrate my birthday today, I will be thinking about the great B.B. King and all the joy he brought into my life and the lives of everyone. I was a little child when I first heard his music. We had some neighbors who loved to give parties, but would play NOTHING but the blues. I believe that may have been the first time I ever heard the story of how his guitar got the name Lucille.

The last time I saw B.B. in concert was about three years ago. He and Buddy Guy…oh what a great concert that was!

As I receive toasts for my birthday, I’m gonna be toasting him as well.

Rest in Blessed Peace King B.B.

What they say becomes increasingly ridiculous…

    http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/house-republican-pope-should-stay-out-politics

It was just five months ago that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said he wants leaders from the faith community to “rise up and engage America in the public square with Biblical values.” The likely Republican presidential candidate added, “The time has come for pastors to lead the way and reset the course of American governance.”

    After yesterday….. 🙂

After Pope Francis moved to recognize a Palestinian state, some gung-ho defenders of Israel suggested the pontiff should stick to preaching and stay out of politics.

“It’s interesting how the Vatican has gotten so political when ultimately the Vatican ought to be working to lead people to Jesus Christ and salvation, and that’s what the Church is supposed to do,” said Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), a hawkish defender of Israel.

      May 15, 2015 at 12:33 pm

Isn’t interestingly ironic that these same folks wanting the Pope to just mind his business are the very people wanting their religious ideology on US Laws, wanting a Christian Nation and wanting to dictate to Women and to regulate our bodies?
These people NEVER listen to themselves.

Ohio Republicans Propose Poll Tax For 2016 Election

Last week in the Ohio House of Representatives, 24 Republican members co-sponsored legislation requiring Ohio residents to pay a poll tax to cast a ballot. The idea of having to pay a fee to cast a ballot is patently unconstitutional according to the 24th Amendment, but these are Republicans and they have not shown any interest in adhering to, or recognizing, the validity of the U.S. Constitution since Americans elected an African American man as President.

The proposed Ohio legislation ‘permits’ voters who lack Republican-approved identification to vote, but only if they pay $8.50 for an official GOP-sanctioned voter ID card issued by the state’s Republican secretary of state. There is a very special provision in the voter ID bill that exempts some prospective voters, but their income dare not “exceed one hundred per cent of the federal poverty guidelines,” or less than $11,770 a year in annual income as of 2015; every other prospective voter will pay to vote.

For these idiot Republicans the only part of the Constitution that matters is the misinterpreted 2nd Amendment.
