WOW, what a great way to wake up. Thank you, thank you. Before I got out of bed I was going thru twitter and especially BWD’s timeline. Boy the emoprogs are upset that the President set Warren straight. They are as bad as the teapartiers.

Yes mtmarilyn, they are the equivalent of the Tea Party from the left. They can’t see the gray areas in a situation – it’s with us or against us 100%.

And they always align against PBO. When he does something they actually sort of like, they either ignore it or try to take credit for making him do it. Nuts.

Morning all. Yesterday was such a lovely day that I’m really not ready to face a new week of aches, pains and Democratic meetings. We’re only one week away from a very contested primary and there will be lots of pressure to GOTV and then lots of wounded feelings when somebody inevitably loses. Sometimes running for office (however minor) brings out the best in people and you find something really outstanding in a person that makes you want to support them. At other times, elections bring out the worst in people and you discover a lot of petty, hateful anger that you would have been happy never to have seen or known about.

Good morning TOD from a very calm, clear lovely Oklahoma. We are between storms…..but the good thing is, our reservoir lakes are filling up, and the world is beautifully green. More storms expected by Wed, but at least today we can have our lawn mowed. Texas got the worst this weekend, as many of you might have seen on TV. Our son and family didn’t come up Saturday, as they got caught in a torrential storm in Denton (north of Dallas) and turned around. Good thing too, because later Denton had terrific floods, and people were being airlifted to safety.

With this part of the country it seems to be either drought or flood.

Have a wonderful week everyone. So glad to be alive and kicking in the Age of Obama.

      GM Carolyn,

I’ve missed quite a bit of TOD recently, glad to hear you’re doing well, considering that the lead story on CBS radio network news is about the unrelenting spate of tornadoes in the Oklahoma/Texas area.

ICYMI, did hear a single report on CBS radio yesterday that said President Obama called a few mothers who had written him, and mentioned that he doesn’t have a Mother to celebrate Mother’s Day with. 😦

Great site exposing the serious hypocricy of the .01%ers…. http://hedgeclippers.org/paul-tudor-jones/

Meet Paul Tudor Jones – hypocrite.

Founder of the Robin Hood Foundation, Paul Tudor Jones takes from the poor and gives to the rich.

Paul Tudor Jones claims he wants to end poverty but . . .

Rather than pay his fair share of taxes, Tudor Jones invests money in for-profit colleges, for-profit prisons and politicians he can manipulate for his own financial gains. Apparently he thinks blocking taxes on private yachts and helicopters is a better solution to income inequality than raising the minimum wage.*

    Good morning TOD folks!

    May 11, 2015 at 9:36 am

    Good morning, TOD.
Two items in the news today that are spun negatively for President Obama in the NY Times. Let me set the record straight.

Number one is that King Salman of Saudi Arabia’s decision to send his Foreign Minister AND his Defense Minister is not a snub of POTUS as Andrea Mitchell and The Times would like you to think. More likely, it is a decision signaling an intent to make policy. As a tweet on BWD says, “He reigns. They rule.”

Number two is the fear mongering about PBO getting the fast track authority he has asked for in the vote on Tuesday. The Times is uncertain that The President can get the support he needs in the House.
FAILING to mention that 150 Democratic Congressmen signed a letter of support and of course the GOP is for trade. The Times appears to be propping up the emoleft nonsense of EW and others, elevating it to actual threat level. I don’t see it that way.

    Am I missing something?
Or is the desperation to have President Obama fail at something, anything completely obliterating common sense???

    • 43 desertflower
      May 11, 2015 at 9:43 am

Same shit, different day…we can add different players for different reasons. Meanwhile, in real life, PBO just keeps moving forward and moving the world to a better place. I’ll take that any day!

Good Morning, Vicki! And it *is* a *good* morning – we are alive in the Age of Obama!

FTR, the desperation to have President Obama fail at something, anything, completely OBLITERATED (political and media) common sense *years* ago!

Whiners, moaners, critics and haters aside, have a joyous Monday!

    • May 11, 2015 at 10:05 am

Vicki, the snub of President Obama by the Saudi king were all over the news cycle this morning, that is all I heard. Starting with CNN to CBS.

      • May 11, 2015 at 10:10 am

I wore my fingers out flipping the channels, putting it on mute. And then this guy who has written some book about the WH lied about something dealing with they got bin Laden. I see now why I had stop watch the morning news, specially cable.

    • May 11, 2015 at 10:20 am

Don’t forget they’re now trying to run with the story that President Obama lied about the bin Laden raid.

      SMH, so damn desperate.

      • May 11, 2015 at 10:34 am

AxelFoley, some journalists name Seymour Hersh is the one who is saying that the WH lied. Just what the right wing love to hear. But I do not believe that the President lied. And Peter Bergen of CNN is not believing Seymour Hersh either.

      May 11, 2015 at 10:36 am

Vicki this is no different than what we’ve seen for the last 6 years. How many “Katrinas” has he had at this point? Even PBO laughs about it. Why would you expect anything different at this point? It isn’t going to change now, if anything it is going to get worse as he refuses to play the lame duck role the media and GOP want him to play. And like the countless ones we’ve seen in the past, a few months from now you will see no mention of it.

Personally, I am through with the media, have been for awhile, and just intend to enjoy his accomplishments. As we all know, he’s gor more to come!

        May 11, 2015 at 11:48 am

Foxfire—absolutely agree and I don’t expect anything different.
I do however enjoy mentioning when the NY Times tells 1/2 the story. That still amazes me although, obviously , it shouldn’t!

This may have been mentioned here already … I heard late last night that Raul Castro – following his visit at the Vatican with Pope Francis – reportedly stated that he may return to the Catholic Church (having been an atheist in Communist Cuba, according to what he said), because he’s so impressed by the current Pope. He reportedly added, ” … and I am not kidding.”

I laughed to myself because just as some of us mention that our President seems to “sprinkle magic Obama dust” on some naysayers, winning them over, Pope Francis sometimes causes a little dust-up of his own! Sad that the President and the Pope are seen as rare individuals in the 21st Century, but I’m glad they’re around to make some other worldly issues bearable!

Good article on the medical tax the LW in Congress want to repeal. HRC has also stated she’s in favor of considering a repeal. I’m not hearing any proposals about how to replace Obamacare funding, though.

      May 11, 2015 at 11:49 am

Not that you’re not on fire all the time, but you have positively kicked into campaign mode, these last few weeks, meta! You’re covering a gazillion issues, too, keeping some of us slugs educated. You go, girl!

      • May 11, 2015 at 11:53 am

Oh, thank you so much. I guess I’m feeling like I have to stand up for POTUS 24/7 but especially now that he is also facing incoming fire more and more from our own party. It’s so reprehensible.

But I do have to say these mopes are starting to wear me out.

ALSO: Thanks so very much for being our conduit to Canadian Barb. She’s been with us for such a long time and I’m thrilled to hear she’s really on the mend. Such a great spirit.

i have been following this issue also, meta, and it is Infuriating.
The goal seems to be to destroy Obamacare by any means necessary.

Warren is joining the Dems “must lose” strategy of 2104. If she and other PUMAs keep this up they will get their wish in 2016.

      • May 11, 2015 at 11:58 am

It’s thoroughly frightening. Sometimes I can’t believe what I’m hearing and seeing.

That piece from CBPP is very thorough and convincing, IMO. There’s zero evidence for EW’s hyperbole. And like all her arguments: entirely speculative. Like POTUS implied, it’s like she thinks she’s still teaching law instead of legislating.

One of the things that makes our President special is his ability to listen, and think things through to address the problem in a complete and comprehensive way to actually solve it without letting the usual politics of the issue get in the way thus ACA aka Obamacare was born. It was designed to work and bring DOWN the cost of the healthcare system. It requires sources of money coming into it. Changing the parts constituents do not like is the political thing to do, like it has always been, but it throws the carefully crafted comprehensive program into the Government over reach entitlement failure category the GOP like to rant about.

      • May 11, 2015 at 2:02 pm

Precisely! PBO and team worked on finely tuning ACA for a very long time and it’s working splendidly. But everyone else wants to put their fingerprints on it. UGH.

Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame…..Shame on H. Seymour.
Those in the media trying to once again marginalize a Heroic Accomplishment by Pres Obama……these people are pathologically wicked and evil minded.
