Oh, Dudette, you are truly amazing. My father loved this song–it always brought him to tears. His mother lived in Italy and just when he was about to travel to Italy to see her, he died. I can’t hear this song without crying.

Aw JG! Though you’re missing him, I hope this song and those tears bring loving memories of your Dad more than the pain of his passing. Peace and blessings to you.

Thanks mtm! I’m missing my Mom! She’s out of town today. She and Dad went to attend one of my cousins’ graduation in Virginia (cousin picked up her 2nd masters degree yesterday — Wooooot!) Luckily I got to talk to Mom this morning. Will have to wait a couple of days to shower her with hugs and kisses when she gets home. 🙂

        Happy Mother’s Day!

What is this trend lately of Brits playing Americans lately 😉
      MLK and Loretta Scott King
      Abe Lincoln
      And now, Pres Barack Obama?
40M plus African Americans in USA. 60M in total of British Citizens?

        May 10, 2015 at 1:45 pm

An excellent point, Nena. I have been wondering about this and related issues for quite some time.
In Nashvile on ABC, two of the stars playing American country singers—Scarlett and Gunnar, are British. What? Not enough country singers in Tennesse, Georgia, Texas?

The only explanation I can come up with is that there are a lot of good drama programs in the UK or these performers have great agents.

      • May 10, 2015 at 2:14 pm

Hmmm…..is right. Must be the trendy thing to do.

One would think an American actor could be found to play PBO…….but I do notice the British actors are superb. They don’t over-emote, and they speak clearly…….Americans tend to chew their words and ham their roles………PBO is not an over emoter, neither does he chew his words, he articulates clearly……maybe this has something to do with the casting. I watch PBS a lot…..and also watch shows on Acorn (the British imports) and am used to the British acting. When I watch American shows…..which is rarely…..I find it depressing, the acting is so tacky and the articulation and pronunciation are so sloppy and lazy. That’s my two cents.

          • May 10, 2015 at 4:33 pm

I think it’s a trend or it helps to bring in dollars. I’m with you on the acting. I ADORE BRITISH shows because the characters and acting seem more…real. Authentic.

That’s a pretty interesting theory on why they chose a British actor over an American. Never would have thought of that, but it makes a lot of sense.

Is it so fucking hard for columnist to write President Obama, anywhere, somewhere in their fucking columns?

      May 10, 2015 at 3:32 pm

The more I think about this movie the more it seems odd, the only black actor they could find to play President Obama just happens to have had worked for Republican Governor Mitch Daniels. And the actor’s mother was a Republican city official in Indianapolis, I don’t know, the whole thing seems a bit strange.
