Ok, AMK, that dad is a creep. Unless he’s lost the use of both arms, he could clean up the snack and the counter, put the baby in a stroller and take both kids for a walk (to the hardware store), allowing mom to take a peaceful bath and pamper herself. He could return with roses and the ingredients for lunch that would allow mom to sit and enjoy a meal in peace for once.

Morning all – had a wonderful mothers day – grandbabe & her Mom came to stay overnight & as we hadn’t seen them for a few weeks – was extra good. I cooked mother’s day dinner – as you do – :).

    • May 10, 2015 at 8:51 am

“I cooked mother’s day dinner – as you do”

Hold it – that is NOT how it works!! πŸ˜†

        May 10, 2015 at 9:02 am

Tis in my household – my next marriage will be to a man who can cook – Very similar to amk’s toon above – “Happy Mother’s day – what’s for dinner”

        • May 10, 2015 at 9:03 am

“my next marriage will be to a man who can cook”

πŸ˜† Did I mention my father once gave my mother a frying pan for her birthday? He had noooooo clue why we all thought that was hilarious, he thought it was a brilliant gift.

            May 10, 2015 at 9:16 am

Did you father survive the day without a serious dent in his head? If so, he was a lucky man.

          • 48 99ts
            May 10, 2015 at 9:16 am

Around about the first anniversary ( 37 years ago) I realised Mr 99 was not someone who was good at choosing gifts. I usually find what I want & then take him out to buy – avoids disappointment πŸ™‚

            • May 10, 2015 at 9:18 am

πŸ˜† Does he wrap the gift and present it to you? And do you act all surprised and delighted??

              • 50 99ts
                May 10, 2015 at 9:34 am

But of course – he usually asks me where we keep the wrapping paper – but he does ALWAYS select and buy a card – and I always say “that is perfect, great choice” and then we burst into laughter.

It is so much better than trying to smile at something you know is going into the back corner of a cupboard never to be seen again.

South Africa’s main opposition party, the Democratic Alliance (DA), has elected its first black leader.

Mmusi Maimane, 34, succeeds Helen Zille, who resigned unexpectedly last month.

He faced party chairman Wilmot James for the job, and was elected at a party conference in Port Elizabeth.

The DA has long battled perceptions it is a white party representing those who benefited from apartheid, the BBC’s Andrew Harding says.

The party increased its share of the vote in the 2014 elections, but has struggled to present itself as an alternative to the ANC, who have governed South Africa since the end of apartheid.

Ms Zille herself has suggested the party needs a black leader if it is ever to unseat the ANC, our correspondent adds.

Cuban President Raul Castro has held an audience at the Vatican with Pope Francis, who helped broker Cuba’s recent rapprochement with the US.

“I thanked the Pope for what he did,” Mr Castro said, adding: “I will resume praying and turn to the Church again if the Pope continues in this vein.” πŸ˜€

I hope that all the mom’s out there have a day spent doing what you love, with who you love!

    Morning everyone!

Our son and family tried to come up yesterday from Dallas for today…..however, the rain and flooding forced them to turn back. We have now had over TWENTY inches of rain this year…..as opposed to two inches this time last year. Our soil is waterlogged, but I’m not complaining. It’s either drought or flood with us.

Five years ago we were in Italy for Father’s Day….St. Joseph’s Day in March Where we ate the waiter told us about it, and encouraged us to order the special Father’s Day cake…..it was delicious! To validate my memories, I just googled this day, and sure enough, the big celebration for Father’s Day is lots of feasting and dancing, and also special pastries……

Everything good in my life comes either directly or indirectly from my wife Kim. We have spent the last 16 years together, but we married each other 10 years ago today. If I can have another 100 years sharing life, laughter, and love with her, it won’t be enough time.

I just about dislocate my shoulder patting myself on the back every day because I am so happy with my wife. I feel like I have gotten away with something, like life’s karmic bank teller didn’t notice all of their bills were sticking together when they dealt with me or something. I don’t know anybody who is more happy than me in their marriage or who has a wife that is as good to them as mine is to me. In my life I have done some things very well and some things fairly poorly. I suppose that we all have. I hit it out of the park with who I married. It is just ridiculous that a guy like me should be so lucky. I married way out of my league and I intend to make preserving that luck the singular, highest priority focus of my life. Doing that so far has made me deliriously happy and I cannot imagine that life would be anything but tragic to me if I ever had to stop.

I rarely find myself incapable of conjuring words sufficient to express myself, but they all fall very short where this love and what she means to me and for my life are concerned.

I know. I promised No More Talk about Scotland.
So just a final word or two.

If you are getting your info from BBC The Guardian and other MSM outlets
It is the same as in the USA getting your info from Wall Street Journal, NY Times, All Cable news. FOX!!! UK invented propaganda and remember George Orwell wrote 1984 in the 1940s. American media are beginners in the Lying Game.

Instead start reading a blog called Wings Over Scotland, which offers accurate views in the same way The Obama Diary does.

    • May 10, 2015 at 10:26 am

Vicki, I have my problems with the Guardian, particularly for their Greenwald-Snowden pimping, but there is nooooooooo way they are comparable with Fox.

The BBC aren’t either, although their use of that Tory shill Nick Robinson for politics coverage is amazing.

    • 96 amk for obama
      May 10, 2015 at 10:39 am

sorry, bbc, for all their faults, is no way pox news. nor is ed miliband a gop lite.

    • 98 Nerdy Wonka
      May 10, 2015 at 11:22 am

Nope. Going to disagree with you. The BBC and the Guardian have their faults but they are in no way comparable to Fox and some others.

Labour losing as it did and hands changing as they did in Scotland is not all positive for the 99%. It’s not some progressive agenda. It’s taking Labour’s platforms and bastardizing it in a way that makes people believe the current winning party will serve them well. Labour has its faults, but it is better than what is going forward in the new government.

      • 99 Vicki
        May 10, 2015 at 12:38 pm

The point I am making is that the views in BBC are not the only views to take.
Defending or attacking British media is tangential.
Nobody is as offensive blatant and disgusting as Fox.
That doesn’t mean that the Washington Post is accurate.

How we see the universe differs dramatically from our media in the US.
Wings Over Scotland is like that as well.

      • 101 Vicki
        May 10, 2015 at 12:48 pm

Nerdy. Not all positive for the 99%. That is absolutely true.
But neither is maintaining the status quo, which is a system that has plundered Scotland for years, enriching the wealthy few in England.

Miliband ran on austerity-lite as opposed to Tory austerity. So did the Liberal Democrats.
England Not Just Scotland, voted for real Tories not the lite version.
With Scotland or without it, Liberal Democrats and Labour were wiped out.

        • 102 99ts
          May 10, 2015 at 5:15 pm

Late – but you may see this Vicki – I didn’t like the BBC commentary at all – they were pro tory from the get go – and sounded like tories. The guy on the RHS of their panel who seemed to be running the show was downright rude to anyone who wasn’t a tory. I was unimpressed and disappointed with the commentary – above and beyond the election result.

Loved the Scottish leader who when asked how come Cameron won – in a condescending manner – said it was nothing to do with her party – ask labour and the LDs why they couldn’t get the seats in England/Wales.
